Tyrese Haliburton: “I’ve been taking unbelievable amounts of medication to try to get rid of [shingles]. It hasn’t worked. It’s obviously caused me to gain weight … That’s been a topic of conversation through social media.”
Man, he is STILL dealing with shingles? That blows dude.
I had shingles when I was 25. The biggest key is getting to it early. Luckily had a friend in med school and he ID’ed it and I was at urgent care within 36 hours. After the first 3 days even good anti virals can take a long time to get rid of it
If I’m not mistaken I read that he didn’t get it diagnosed for a bit so it’s possible it really took hold
Of course at the end of the day it affects everyone differently, took mine about 3 weeks to fully run its course. Social/emotional health are big factors and I imagine a public figure may have trouble maintaining the equilibrium to help an auto-immune style issues go away
At 25?? From what I’ve heard about it here in Sweden, people usually get it much later in life. Damn man. Glad you got through it well (and early).
Yeah, so people that are immunocompromised or have auto immune issues (I have psoriasis as well) are more prone and if you’re run down physically/mentally/emtionally, that’s when it can emerge
I had just started teaching full time in a difficult NYC middle/high school and was going through my first adult relationship breakup, so the perfect storm emerged
The initial symptoms (skin tingling and common cold stuff) are also easy to miss, and then when the rash pops up it’s rarely what people go to.
And thank you! It absolutely is incredibly painful. It’s inflammation of nerve endings. I had it during winter so anytime I got chills (aka doing anything) it was like a fire running up and down my body. Showering, wearing clothes, sitting in a car; can all become incredibly painful. Def don’t wish it on anyone
the name of it in my country is hellfire , bit more fitting describing the pain
Haha yes I would definitely agree with that
Had it in my mid twenties as well. Over 10 years ago. I think I triggered it through stress and body strain.
I felt like crap. Had it on my face. Luckily my eye was safe.
But I have damaged nerves on my side nostril.
The doctor didn’t know what it was initially. Was in the hospital for 2 weeks.
It wasn’t common. “Only older people get it.”
Yeah that’s the toughest part is that so many don’t take it seriously
In retrospect the best thing I did was reach out my med school friend, I still remember his exact text “keep an eye on it as it may be an unlikely case of shingles”
And when I went to urgent care and lifted my shirt the doc just went “oh yeah that’s shingles”
Sorry your experience was rougher
I also got it dealing with the toxic ending of a seven year relationship. Stress is a big trigger.
I hear that my man, hope it didn’t get you too hard
Oh it ruined all of 2020 for me along with COVID lol. But I’m with someone much better now and doing well, thank you!
And if anyone else reading this is going through a bad breakup - might be hard to believe but you’ll make it and meet someone better too.
Ugh man sorry to hear that. Glad to hear it’s over with
And yes, therapy is the best, go get some!
I got shingles when I was in college, I remember being sick as fuck at a party and then going back to my dorm. After that it was just the sores I got that sucked I was dealing with it in a dorm by myself and I was completely fine in a week. I didn’t even feel sick after the first night it was literally just the scabbed over sores that hurt like hell.
I was told it’s better to get it when you’re younger but it’s more rare. I was like 18 or 19, Haliburton is only 26 but still maybe it didn’t hit me as hard bc of my age. That first night was hell tho.
Psoriasis twinsies <3 I was running amuck in high school so my immune system was in the gutter and that’s when it showed up for me. And just like you said even wearing clothes was the worst thing ever. I literally had to run around high school with no bra. What a time lol
Yeah wearing a shirt was hell
The worst would be eating a hot meal. I’d take a sip of water and get what would normally be a tiny chill and shingles made it a fire streak down my right side
All of this. Was in a very similar boat at that time, and got shingles around that time as well.
The human body is a minefield.
Got it at 12 lmao I am cursed
Wait, you got shingles at 12?? Not chickenpox?
Yes, dead serious!! Had chicken pox when I was too young to remember, then got shingles at 12, still have the scars on my side hah
Damn, that sucks.
My sister got it at 13, up around her face too. Doctors were concerned it’d get in her eye and blind her, but fortunately the anti-virals worked quickly enough. Shit was rough
My niece had shingles in elementary school.
Ahh yeah I was in 5th grade at the time!
Well that’s around the age Hali is
I got it at 20, doctor told me stress could be a big factor and I was deep in an addiction I was trying to hide while failing school so that seemed to fit.
Got it at 20.
No clue why. No stress or anything weird . Perfect health other Wise
It depends on your immune system and how well your chicken pox immunity is, I got them at 29, on my face, it was brutal but we caught it early.
I got diagnosed last week at 33. Was kind of shocked when my dermatologist told me that’s what it was.
I got shingles when I was 28. The doctor I went to told me she had seen an increasing number of shingles cases in young people post-covid.
its also totally absurd most docs wont even give you the shingles vaccine if you arent over 50.
Right?! Did you see a recent study released where the vax also reduce heart disease by almost 50%? I would want the vax more for that than shingles lol.
It’s easy to get the vax at a young age
You just have to get shingles first
Nope, I’ve been denied it multiple times despite getting shingles in my early 30s.
Same. I had it at 25, too. It’s so frustrating
That does not sound easy. 😭 😂
Oh that was a typo. I meant it’s excruciating and miserable
Had shingles, still wouldn’t give me the vaccine
I did actually, and iirc there was a pretty decent study showing a link to alzheimers after developing shingles as well. Just seems silly not to offer it to people who want it
Serious risk of developing shingles after 50 years of age, versus low-risk, low-fatality rate in people under 50.
Sure but the people who do get it, especially immune compromised people, suffer for weeks or months if they do get it.
Insurance wont pay for it. If you say you will pay out of pocket they will give it to you.
I got it much earlier, but I’m in Canada so maybe we have different rules. I’m also severely immuno compromised because I got a transplant last year and I’m on immuno suppressants
I got shingles when I was 28⁄29 due to stress and working with young children with special needs who were exposed to chicken pox recently.
I got my symptoms in reverse I got a crazy fever and nausea then after that cleared I got the rash/open wound on my hip that was sticky and took forever to heal.
By the time I got to the doctor he basically said it already had run its course and gave me some light antibiotics or something.
Took like 3 years before I felt normal again
I got it 5 years ago at 37. Mine started as just a back ache that wouldn’t go away, then 3 days later the rash started. It went from the middle of my back, across my pec to the center of my chest. Imagine sitting in a chair, the first part of your back that touches the back of the chair is right where the rash started. It was not a fun time.
Five years later and I still don’t have any feeling in the area. Could be worse, though.
Got it 33 on my face/eye. It was the most excruciating pain I’ve ever experienced in my life and I’ve broken multiple bones and torn a couple ligaments (football).
All of it was dwarfed by shingles. It was like someone was pulling shards of glass through my pupil for about a minute at a time. Then it would stop for 5 mins and ramp back up. For about 2 days until the nerve blockers finally kicked in and that the edge off.
I thought I was going to lose my mind and it permanently messed up my vision in that eye.
So yeah, not fun. For any older people out there, if your doctor offers you the vaccine, take it.
I got it very mildly around the same age. Basically just a small rash and a bit of nerve pain, never had to seek treatment or medication. My dad was a doctor and told me that it’s actually very advantageous to get it at that age because the older you get, the more serious it can be.
I’m honestly surprised he’s suffering from shingles this young! That poor man - one of my dad’s employees, who never called in sick, had no choice but to cave in when he got shingles. That’s when my dad knew to book a vaccine for it - because if it was enough to take out someone who never called in sick and make him bedridden for a few weeks (and even then he still he wasn’t quite 100%), he didn’t want to also suffer that torture lol.
Apparently it can be triggered by a weak immune system and stress in younger people.
I can see how tearing your achilles could weaken your immune system and cause stress.
BLUF: When you’re in the age range/your PCM recommends it: DO IT!
I’m almost in the age range for the shot and I have a weakened immune system. My MD said by next appt I should really get it. I scheduled with my pharmacy. 3 days later, I was itchy. Immediately scheduled with my MD. He sent a Rx to the pharmacy. We caught it early. But it was still miserably painful. Two months later I still have the rash, pain and itch. The worse part is the itch. You scratch and it hurts. But it follows the nerve. So, I scratch my stomach/chest and I feel the pain go from the front to the back and vice verse.
Oh, and the meds are Valtrex. Which I used to joke about bc genital herpes. But thank God for Valtrex. I mean like holy crap. Again, I was lucky. Hali had it on his eyes so i feel so bad for him.
Get the shot before RFK kills it.
Valtrex is a godsend for several things besides genital herpes
I got it at 17. I’m 38 now and still have symptoms. Get the vaccine when you’re eligible, folks.
I got shingles last month. It is absolutely no joke. I’ve still got lesions in my eye that I’m taking meds for. It’s going to take months for this shit to fully clear up.
My girlfriend’s dad got shingles on his head and it affected the nerves in his eyes. It’s been over a year and he still has severe nerve pain in his eye. He’s had 3 different procedures done to try and alleviate the pain with no success. Shingles is no joke. If you get it in the wrong area it could be a terrible thing to have.
I know someone who got ocular shingles and had a stroke because of it. 60 year old man- previously very intelligent and able-bodied- will now require assistance for the rest of his life. Both his cognitive and motor function have been severely affected, and the lives of his wife and children forever altered.
If you get Ocular Shingles, the risk of stroke in the next year is about 8%.
Get the vaccine!!!!
Shingles is BRUTAL. Poor guy. Get well soon
Yeah. There’s a YouTuber (Jonathan Morrison) who got it in one eye, and he has been dealing with the damage for years.
He goes by Johnny TV now
Took me a minute to realize that you’re talking about a different guy lol.
Ain’t no make believe.
My wife got it while pregnant, and while we had a young toddler. Do not recommend.
The highest highs to the lowest lows.
Please come back stronger than before, Haliban!
As we all know, the haliban always returns to power after seemingly being defeated
Dread it, run from it… the Haliban arrives all the same.
Let’s be real, his current low is still pretty gat dam high. Aside from the fame and fortune he seems like his spirits are high and has a good support system
Your highs become your baseline so anything below that just feels worse.
Chris Rock had the best line of “if Bill Gates woke up with Oprah money he’d jump out a window”
I really don’t like joking about it because it still hurts to think about. But you can’t get much lower than laying on the floor screaming…
Either way, NBA needs him to come back. He’s a phenomenal player with an awesome personality.
He looks like he runs a vape shop right now. Rest up king.
The medication is absolutely making him bloated. I have had shingles before, you feel like a fucking pufferfish.
It’s almost hard to believe just how much weight you can gain from being on certain medications if you’ve never experienced it yourself. I took Seroquel for less than 3 months and I felt unrecognizable. It did its job though
he’s literally talking about people online yapping about his appearance while he’s suffering through an illness. wtf is wrong with yall
I think most people are pretty judgemental in everyday life, and that’s exacerbated when the person you’re judging is just a face on the screen who will never acknowledge you personally.
To be fair some of the memes are funny
Tyrese has had some of the funniest nicknames. Haliban is an all timer and Haliburger, while a little mean spirited considering what he’s going through, does crack me up a little.
People were super quick to judge. If anyones ever seen photos of him younger he’s always had a thin build, some might even say “scrawny” figure. He’s too young to suddenly gain weight. Especially for a professional athlete, doesnt matter if he’s been injured, they still work out and rehab as much as they do when they’re healthy. Seemed something was up, he wasnt just sitting on his ass eating cupcakes lol. Sucks he has to address it, hope he heals up soon.
I think everyone understands why and can agree it just sucks.
If people were calling him a lazy good for nothing fatass it would be uncalled for. Making a joke and rooting for him isn’t the end of the world.
Omg
Bro 😂😂
Hahahahaha god dammit
Shingles is terrible. Had a close family member with it and it took him months to feel like himself again.
If a guy with Haliburton’s resources can’t shake it, you know it’s a hell of a disease.
Herpes variants are notoriously hard to treat, which chicken pox/Shingles are.
I don’t like this information
Fun herpes fact: About 65% of humans have herpes simplex 1 and a further 13% have herpes simplex 2 (the genital kind). It’s endemic in our population now.
Didn’t have fun at all
“Fun”
herpes simplex 2 (the genital kind)
Slightly incorrect! You can actually get either type 1 or type 2 either orally or genitally. But, you can’t get the same type in both places, or both types in the same place. So it’s FAR more common to get infected by type 1 orally at a younger age, which prevents you from also getting type 1 genitally, so then when you encounter type 2 your genitals are free real estate
Did he not get the chicken pox vaccine? I thought everyone born after ~1990 didn’t have to worry about this because the vaccine became common around then.
Shingles is a mutation of the chicken pox virus. So if you have had chicken pox or the chicken pox vaccine that strain basically stays dormant in your body until it mutates into shingles. If you havent had the vaccine or gotten chicken pox as a child you are susceptible to getting shingles from someone that is contagious with it though.
I don’t remember if I had the vaccine or if I actuallt got chickenpox as a kid but i developed shingles (in almost the same place as hali (in my eyebrow, scalp, and a bit inside my eye) when I was 21-22. To this day (10+ years later) the nerve endings in my eyebrow are still a little messed up, they itch and burn like crazy from time to time and nothing helps
Unfortunately, he was born before the 90s (we’re old on this side!) and he never had chicken pox as a kid. So it was a double whammy apparently.
Shingles fucked me up. Late 30s. Never had a migraine before and then my head pounded for 3 days straight and I wanted to die. Finally on the 3rd or 4th day I developed a rash so I went to urgent care and they diagnosed immediately.
My story exactly.
I told the Dr “I have a headache so bad my hair hurts, and I just got this rash on my neck”
She said “shingles” immediately.
Interesting. I had it at 38 (ribs) but no headache. The area where it would later appear was super itchy for a week though. Thought I had an allergic reaction to something.
didn’t know shingles can happen to younger individuals
It can happen to anyone that had chicken pox. My wife got it when she was 27, I’m not sure how old Halliburton is but probably mid 20s.
He’s 26. He was born on Leap Day in 2000.
Incorrect, he’s only 6 and a half
Modern day nba players got terrorized by an actual baby during the playoffs last year 😹
Makes sense. His parents probably brought him to one of those pox parties then
Born in 2000, so 26ish. I was looking to see if he was young enough to be around for when the MMV vaccine was suggested to all children, but it was hard to find that specific date as well.
I’m pretty sure I remember getting chicken pox as a kid before the vaccine was widespread in the mid 90’s.
people got that vaccine then, i was born in the same year and i had it
I am 32, and i was the first one in my family to get the vaccine. Never had it.
I’m also 32, but from what I can find the vaccine wasn’t available in Canada until 98, and the first widespread immunization program didn’t start until 2000.
I knew someone who got it when they were ten or so 😬
I had chicken pox when I was little, and I’m terrified of getting shingles popping up at some point. I’m in my late 30s.
I got it at 27 (had chicken pox as a kid, no vaccine). Thankfully not too severe and got it treated pretty quickly. My face was a disaster for a bit and my eyes were swelling shut.
He’s 26.
My wife too. Thank god for the nurse that recognized it because her daughter (around the same age) had just gone through it. We got her on the right medication just at the right time, it had already been about two weeks of dealing with it.
Is increasingly common with young people. Anecdotally know a good amount of people sub 40 who have gotten it.
Aren’t you supposed to be immune if you get the varicella vaccine rather than the full-blown virus?
Apparently you can still get it because the vaccine itself is a weakened version of the virus, but it reduces the chance of getting shingles by 80%.
That’s how all vaccines are
No, there are many different types of vaccine mechanism.
https://www.hopkinsmedicine.org/health/treatment-tests-and-therapies/vaccines
The vaccine didn’t roll out until 1995 in the states, and even then it was a couple of years before it had mass adoption. So there’s millions of people in their 30s who had the virus before the vaccine was available.
Sure, but Hali was born in 2000. Apparently the first shot was only 1 dose and it’s less effective than the current 2-dose version that was implemented in 2006. The 1-dose was pretty effective (reduced cases by 75%) but still left some room for it, which is probably what happened.
Yep. They really need to bring down the vaccine eligibility age for the remaining window of people who were too old to have gotten the chicken pox vaccine as kids. Many people get it as adults now from typical stress.
Makes you wonder what percentage of young medical-related problems/deaths stem from that false belief that some things are exclusively an ‘old person’ thing.
Not many
Yeah my fiancée got it in her early 20’s, much rarer but it happens. Apparently if you had chicken pox in your youth it’s more prevalent
If one had chicken pox, they have the virus and it can manifest in shingles for a variety of reasons (typically when our immune systems weaken when we’re older but any sort of stress can trigger it).
Bro I’m 35 and I have gout. Shit hurts like a mfer too. Lmao. Shit like shingles, gout, etc can happen at any age.
you drink a lot of beer? Cause ya i got that and my doc told me to lay off on the beer lol
It’s definitely from beer and It seems to only happen when I drink what I consider shitty beer. The worst flare up I ever had was like 3 years ago when I drank about 7 Budweisers on my buddies bday. Couldn’t walk for a week. Haven’t touched a Budweiser since
No disrespect to those who like Budweiser
I’ve had both and am 37. I’m in shape and healthy too. If anything I’m underweight.
Has nothing to do with your level of perceived health. It’s typically triggered by stress on the body. Mental, physical, emotional. Doesn’t matter. It can trigger shingles.
I had it when I was 13. I remember being at the hospital all day until a doctor brought like 12 med school students to show me off. Then I blacked out for a week on whatever meds they gave me.
Yeah lol I got it at 27 and they took pics (with my permission) for their textbooks.
I got mine at 23 and it was some of the worst pain I’ve ever felt.
Got it when I was 15. Nasty scar left on my stomach. I also accidentally spread chicken pox to some girl in my science class. Sorry Kelly.
My mom had chicken pox when she was pregnant. I got shingles when I was 2. I’m worried it will come back any day now.
I got it when I was 19, in the same area he’s referencing in the video. After a week my delt was sore AF from constantly lifting my arm up so it wouldn’t rub against the rash. The pain was pretty rough, can’t imagine having it that long.
Hard to say what caused it so young but I was working at a bar at the time and between working late and then going out drinking after I was definitely not taking care of myself very well.
My wife got shingles when she was 16 sweating over maintaining straight A’s or she’d be grounded and have to miss a concert she wanted to go to.
Feel better man, shingles is awful. I had it at like 29
Tyrese is only 6 and his seventh birthday is coming up soon. he will heal and be better.
No fucking way I didn’t know this
The fact he mentioned the discourse on social media is disappointing. I thought people would have learned after the criticism of Chadwick’s weight loss, but social media gonna social media.
People suck. They don’t give a shit what the cause is, they’re only on twitter and YouTube comments to bring others down to make themselves feel better. Truly the bottom feeders of society.
I thought the jokes were funny because I was convinced it was just a bad angle or a little rehab weight. Seeing this and knowing it’s from the shingles I feel for the guy.
Do you not pay attention to what people constantly say about women or does it only matter when it happens to men? Nothing has changed since Chadwick died. The stars of Wicked are a glaring example of that
If you honestly expected anything else then you don’t know social media enough
This is why you get your kids the chickenpox vaccine
It is less common and less severe, but you can still get shingles even if you had the chicken pox vaccine.
Adding a link for those who care to read
CDC
“Some people who are vaccinated against chickenpox get shingles (herpes zoster) years later. This is much less common after vaccination than after chickenpox disease.”
Yup my friend at work just got it despite the vaccine.
I’ve had shingles myself as a young adult. It really sucked. It felt like second-degree burns across my torso, I couldn’t do anything except sit in a reclined chair for an entire week.
How was he born in 2000 without the chickenpox vax
Chickenpox vaccine came out in 95
It was pretty widely adopted by time he should’ve had his first dose, though. I wonder if his parents were skeptical about it/vaccines in general. Shit, I got it and I was born in 91.
I have questions for John Haliburton
But that’ll make them gay! /s
Some of us were born and got the chicken pox before the vaccine 🙃
Man if I am a pacer fan this is concerning to see
I dunno about concerning, according to him in this interview the Achilles rehab was going good and he was on a similar trajectory as Tatum, but shingles set him back a good while.
Plus at the end of the day the season starts in October, so at least another half of year of rehab and getting in shape
I agree. His first report of shingles was back in Feb. usually shingles last 2-4 weeks. This is starting to run into PHN territory. Now if it resolves next month its probably fine. But the longer this goes the worse the prognosis is for him. I have patients who have had PHN for years. He’s probably gaining weight from meds like nortriptylline rather than steroids. I had no idea he was still dealing with the shingles, i just assumed he was just getting fat. Vaccinate your kids people!
Having seen him in person it also really looks like fluid retention that is mostly just noticeable in his face, which makes sense since I can only assume he’s been on some sort of corticosteroid for the severe inflammation he apparently had in his face with the shingles. And prednisone is known to give a moon face effect. Shingles really sounds like hell.
I got my vaccinations as a kid thankfully
I’m 40 and got chicken pox as a 2 or 3 year old. I think the vaccine was still pretty new and not widely administered yet. Most of my friends my age also got chicken pox. But Halliburton is what, 25 or so? You’d think he would have gotten the vaccine as a kid
I think the vaccine was still pretty new and not widely administered yet.
The vaccine was first commercially available in 1984, but did not become licenced to be administered in the USA until 1995.
Ah well there ya go. Makes even more sense why everyone I knew got the chicken pox as a kid
You can still get it after getting the vaccine as a kid. My gf just did this week and she was vaccinated
I’m surprised he didn’t, he’s well within the age of people who could have gotten vaccinated as kids. I’m a lot older than him and still got vaccinated from it.
Exactly
You can definitely still get shingles after being vaccinated lol
Something has gone drastically wrong it seems to me with the scheduling of chicken pox / shingles vaccinations.
I got my shingles vaccination way ahead of the supposed age, after having had chicken pox as a kid.
Researchers now think that older people who have had chicken pox kept their immunity against shingles up by coming into contact with younger people with chicken pox, and they only got shingles later in life when their immune system finally weakened. Now that we have widespread chicken pox vaccines, people are having less and less contact, and therefore weaken against shingles earlier.
My father suffered from a shingles outbreak last year and I had never seen him so broken by something in his life.
It lasted months. He went through insomnia-like episodes because he couldn’t get to sleep through the pain. He ruined his bed by having to constantly cover his outbreak spots in ointments to alleviate the pain. Eventually he rigged up some cardboard boxes to keep his blanket from touching his skin while he tried to sleep.
Get your shingles vaccine, and encourage others you know to do the same. It’s truly awful.
Got singles on my face last year. It sucks. The pain isn’t unbearable, but it’s constant throughout the two weeks you’re dealing with the brunt of the virus. That mixed with the medication makes you light-headed. I literally stayed in one of my rooms completely isolated from my family when I had it. So on top of everything else I was experiencing cabin fever.
It’s been over a year now and while the scarring is ~98% gone the area of my face that was infected is still numb. Shingles absolutely destroys the nerves it infects.
Varicella zoster, the gift that keeps on giving.
Social media and people in general are brutal
Dude this absolutely sucks. Shingles itself sucks.
Also I’ve been on a med that made me gain weight and people were lowkey so weird to me about it because I was always lean before, and I’m not in the public eye as an athlete. I really feel bad for him
Here’s a video by Hank Green explaining why younger people are getting singles
Damn dude, imagine having all that money, the best care in the world, and still dealing with health bullshit on that level. Plus the devastation of the Finals injury including endless rehab bullshit. And then online you’ve got people clowning on the way you look. This dude’s a soldier, his mindset is really respectable
I know the feeling. Prednisone courses fkn suck
I genuinely did not recognize him until I read the caption
Damn I hope he gets better. This is why I didn’t comment on that Picture of Hali when it was floating around. I saw people making fun of him, and ai thought people learned from the Chadwick situation to stop doing that.
I’m 33 and had the misfortune of having it twice. The first time was on my belt line, which wasn’t so bad. But the second time was in my right armpit and it was fucking brutal.
Oh bud. That fucking sucks
Damn. Leave that man alone.
Get your chickenpox vaccine
The Pacers commitment to tanking is unrivaled
The internet is fucked up cus theyll just see someone gain weight and start making jokes. Not knowing its health reasons.
Bro looks like me and all my friends when we were three years removed from high school
I feel bad for the guy. First he blows out his Achilles and then shingles. That’s just plain misery.
He’s too young to not gotten the vaccine for chickenpox must be some other way to get shingles I don’t know about
Had shingles in my mid-20s. It’s about as bad as I’ve ever felt.
I remember the doctor told me it would affect my emotions and I kind of wrote it off, then a couple days later had the thought “I might never feel right again”. Took me a minute to connect the dots there.
Shingles sucks. I’m glad he’s advocating for those over 50 (in the US; or those with qualifying risk factors) out there to get vaccinated if you’re able. I wish they’d open up the eligibility since many otherwise healthy younger people (presumably like him) get it as a result of various stress factors. It seems like a situation where they just didn’t initially test for safety and efficacy among lower-risk populations so they gave it an unnecessarily high age indication that hasn’t moved enough. There’s still a window of people too old to have gotten the chicken pox vaccine as kids but too young for the shingles vaccine who could benefit (I was one who got it in my 40s from work stress and my neighbor got it in her 30s from divorce stress).
Prednisone is sometimes prescribed with shingles meds and it will make you gain hella weight.
I got shingles in my early 20s, it sucked ass but mine went away fairly quickly. Crazy that he still has it
Varies person to person. One of my lifelong friends had it when he was in his early 20s, and it took over a month to go away - even with medicine.
Respect and best wishes to TH
Shingles is no joke. Had it a year ago. Feels like skin is on fire. Any piece of cloth that even touches your skin hurts so much
That’s just his Wisconsin body
He’s such a grounded dude, can’t help but really like and respect him. Hope he fully recovers soon. The NBA is better with him in it.
Shingles blows. Feel better my man 😂
Maybe I just don’t follow the pacers but this is the first I’ve heard of it, it could be because I don’t use social media aside from reddit if you count that
I had it at a young age. around 25. it sucked but I was better after a week and a half. couldn’t imagine going months
You would think people would chill with the jokes after Chadwick, but go to the speech he did for Pacers’ last game and look at the comments
somebody called him haliburger but man shingles. i’m praying for dawg.
Everyone shitting on Hali are assholes man.
one time my wife had shingles and we were sitting in the waiting room room, and the nurse came out to call her back but instead of her last name she yelled “CLAIRE SHINGLES” and we couldn’t help but laugh our asses of despite the terrible HIPAA violation. At least she didn’t say “CLAIRE HERPES”
My dawg looking like Montez from workaholics lmfaoooo
Had it on my eyelid, went to urgent care, NP gave me a prescription and it completely cleared up within a couple days.
Fans can be unbelievably fucking cruel.
