Wemby lineups this year have been more dominant than any regular season from LeBron, Shaq, Kobe, or Jokic. He is 22 years old
As the regular season wraps up in a week, it’s fun to reflect on how absurd Wemby’s season has been.
In the 64 games he’s played this year, Wemby lineups are obliterating opponents with a +16.4 Net Rating. Net Rating measures how many points per 100 possessions you outscore your opponent by.
This is a higher value than any of LeBron, Shaq, Kobe, Jokic, Dirk, Giannis, Wade have anchored throughout the course of a single season.
Now, Wemby playing just 29 minutes per game is a fair caveat, and the Spurs are a strong roster. And I’m not saying Wemby is exerting more impact than LeBron’s peak regular season, but this is still absurd to me in terms of the heights Wemby is able to lead lineups to, at such a young age.
My hot take is that Wemby might be the first player in NBA history to break the +20 net rating mark when he hits his peak. The current highest mark ever is 2016 Steph’s +18 mark.
