[Highlight] Gary Payton II gets ejected from the game after his halfcourt off the whistle hits the crowd (with replays)
imagine missing so bad they gotta T you up
One of the stranger ejections
I could be wrong but I think he had both a flagrant and a tech earlier in the game. It was a really weird game with tons of fouls. The whole warriors team decided to beat on Devin Carter, push him down, hit him in the face every chance they had. Then they’d go back to the bench and giggle about it
I mean carter and cardwell were also clearly leaning into it and no one was taking it too seriously, everyone was laughing with each other and clearly just goofing around with no hard feelings
The sequence where cardwell scored and started barking then horford scored and the entire warriors bench started barking back until steph got t’d up was hilarious
It was a very fun game to watch, especially the third quarter
That ain’t no replay
Why the hell didn’t they use the opposite backboard camera 😂
This is garbage. He shot the ball and missed. Are you serious.
The title is kind of misleading. He got a second tech for it, he wasn’t ejected just for the shot alone. Getting a technical for what the refs perceived as heaving the ball into the crowd isn’t that crazy. I don’t think it helped that he did it on the wrong basket either.
And that he missed it so badly it left the actual confines of the court.
Yeah. He only got ejected because it was his second tech and, though he heaved the ball at the basket, the ball ended up going into the crowd.
It was a weird game. Steph got a tech for stepping on the court and waving a towel. How many times has he done that before and nothing happened? Yet, somehow Draymond managed to escape the game without a flagarent or tech. 😆
Also explains why no one is outraged or like mildly confused and arguing for GPII in a tie game in the 4th. It’s even the GSW announcers who are happy to promote any homer take/angle and they are just like, “here’s what happened.”
Love GPII but he wouldn’t have gotten a tech if he had just tossed the ball to a ref. Not sure what he was thinking there.
He was shooting the ball after the whistle like many players do, just happened to go into the stands
“Shot” at the wrong basket?
He got a second tech for doing something that players rightfully get techs for.
It’s the same as a delay of game tech – regardless of intent, the ball went into
It’s technically different than a delay of game tech. Delay of game techs aren’t considered sportsmanship techs, so they don’t qualify as the 2 techs you’re allowed each game
Someone needs to post a super cut of everything that led to this. It was one of the crazier games I’ve ever seen
Clock is stopped dawg
Since when can you not attempt a shot and miss after the clock stops?
When you’re shooting at the wrong basket and launching it all the way into the crowd
[removed]
Imagine getting triggered this easily that you resort to name calling. Wild.
It’s simple. You either understand the rule or not.
It’s simple. You’ve either watched a basketball game or you haven’t. There’s a shot after literally every whistle. The issue was it going into the crowd.
Be nice. If nba player shoots the ball at the hoop it’s a shot. It doesn’t have to count. They do this literally all the time.
He turned around and flung it at the wrong basket
Are y’all stupid?
Learn the rules.
You know you can get a technical foul when the clock is stopped, right?
Dawg you know damn well players ALWAYS shoot after the whistle. Half court heaves too.
The difference of which basket seems to matter to you a lot more than to anyone else here.
Irrelevant whether it matters to me vs anyone else here. I guarantee it matters to the refs
Did he get the tech for taking the shot, or the ball hitting a fan?
Do you genuinely not know how techs work? If you don’t I apologize for dunking on you so hard
It’s always ref’s discretion, usually a combination of factors/circumstances. And fans don’t get to be privy to them
He got the tech for throwing the ball into the stands, which there is a clear, unambiguous rule against. It was after play stopped and in the wrong basket, so it wasn’t a valid shot attempt. It doesn’t matter if he meant to do it or not. If you rear-end someone in your car you don’t get to remove liability by saying “But I didn’t mean to.”
This is very easy to understand.
Yep. We’ve never seen players take a shot on the wrong basket after stoppage.
You Karens are the stupid ones at the moment.
Dude had a flagrant and a tech prior to this. He was begging to be ejected all game. Notice how he doesn’t even care
Ratioooo 🤑
The fact you get your validation from Reddit votes says a lot. Your post said nothing worth anything.
I gave you an upvote.
Hehe that’s exactly what they always say when they lose the argument
I knew I could bait you back in. Numbers don’t lie fam
You still aren’t saying anything. Let me know when you do. This is some very rudimentary trolling.
Rudimentary enough to get you piled with downvotes. Or did you do that yourself?
Yeah man show me a few examples of a stoppage of play for 4-5 seconds and then someone heaves the ball into the stands. I’ll wait.
Intention matters. He took a shot and it was horrible and went into the stands.
He didn’t chuck it into the stands intentionally.
I don’t need to show you a damn thing champ. Players will literally stay in the court and take multiple shots. Especially when they’re off.
Also “intention” doesn’t matter because intention isn’t something defined in the rules. Only time intention is mentioned is intentionally fouling or intentional physical contact with officials. You’re just making up shit now 😂
Gary Payton didn’t intentionally hit fans with the basketball.
Your first post was about shooting after the clock stopped.
I’m really not sure why you keep emoji spamming. It doesn’t make me look dumber and it didn’t help your shitty stance on getting tossed on a play made every single game.
I posted a single emoji. Intention doesn’t matter. Why can’t you get that through your head? Rules are rules.
So you got nothing. Thanks and SYBAU in the future.
No I actually responded with the rule but you’re too stubborn to admit you are wrong.
Cool so you’re talking out of your ass. GP3 shot it on his own basket too champ. lol. What a fucking hill to die on. 😂
You didn’t say anything with this response. The laughing emoji tops it off.
Bruh he “shot” the wrong way. If you’re gonna follow basketball at least understand the rules or you come off as a dumbass.
Point the rule out that says you’ll get tossed for shooting at the wrong basket after play stops.
“Any player who throws or kicks the ball directly into the stands with force, regardless of the reason or where it lands, will be assessed a technical foul and ejected.” THE INTENTION DOES NOT MATTER DUMBASS.
I gave you the rule but I’m sure you’ll dig your heels in and make up some shit about intention.
Who is Temu GTA on the Kings? He looks like someone tried to draw Alvarado from memory
Give him back.
No, sorry! You can have his doppelgänger on the Kings tho! 😇
i deadass was confused at first, like “huh, i thought alvarado was on the knicks earlier this week”
Devin carter
He chose to get this technical foul
GP2 was probably just done being in the poop-cream jerseys
Embarrassing. Take a lap.
Bob Fitzgerald’s constant whining tone makes my ears bleed.
Was he whining in this clip though?
He was crying about Devin Carter having 29 points like he had just stolen them from some old lady in a parking lot.
The dude can’t acknowledge the Warriors getting shit on without diminishing the other team along with it.
Also his neck spills over his collar on the days he somehow wraps a tie around his neck. I don’t like that either.
If that’s what you think crying is then you’ve had a nice life
Subtle whining, but yes
I stopped watching dubs telecast and life has been significantly better.
You being dramatic.
The fitz haters love to complain . There is far worse commentators in the league. Yes he is a homer but he ain’t that bad 🤷🏽♂️
The only other “far worse” broadcast is the OKC TV team.
I don’t even mind Azibuike though.
The start of this clip was Bob’s first 15 years with the Warriors. “<any role player> can’t play any better!” Every damn night
If they call that, they need to be petty and call everything else that goes on in this capacity.
Check the refs friends bank accounts
He already had a tech. 2 techs and you’re out. You’re going to get a tech anytime you throw the ball into the stands way after the buzzer.
Soft as baby shit jfc this shit worse than fifa
Refs on that weak sauce as usual
This is a horseshit ejection by the young officials.
I saw many years ago, Ruben Patterson, on the Trail Blazers then…..halftime buzzer goes, he takes the ball and kicks it WAY into the air and crowd…..the younger officials were already leaving the floor but the vet stopped and watched…..the ball came down, just as an elderly woman was getting helped out of her chair by an usher and the ball connected with her head sending her into the usher, and both spilled into the aisle.
THAT was an IMMEDIATE EJECTION. Justified too. The crowd that wasn’t rushing for the bathrooms stood up and applauded their own player being tossed. Always loved Portland!
The Kobe Stoppa
He already had a tech from earlier in the game. He wasn’t just randomly ejected just for this.
It was quite a mental lapse by GP3. Left his teammates hanging out to dry because he wanted to fuck around and do something that everyone knows might get you a tech.
Ok, ok. That ejection was kind of fucked up. But can we please talk about the guy at the start of the video? When did the Kangz sign the lead singer of Ninja Sex Party?
It’s pretty stupid, the refs can use discretion when a ball is thrown in anger vs a random shot.
Dumbass rule. Players get commended for wildly throwing their 230 lb bodies into the crowd to save a ball with no chance, but a basketball accidentally going into the crowd is too far?
The fuck.
one is a live basketball play, this was way after the whistle to the opposite basket and apparently hit a fan. there’s no way there’s this much confusion here
