Less than 4 years ago, Chris Paul went for 33 points & 14-14 shooting in the playoffs
Just remembered he had this game, was absolutely insane to watch at the time. It’s crazy to think how quickly he was out of the league after this.
It’s crazy that his terminal decline in form came at age 40 and not sooner.
Respectfully disagree. His game was never based on athleticism. It makes sense that he had the longevity that he did with his bball iq
While he has an all time bbiq he also was one of if not the quickest players in Nola.
Imo it wasn’t his quickness that gave him an edge in those days, it was his change of speed.
And he was always sneaky strong for a guy that size
He was always capable of hitting a huge 3 to cut the opponent’s lead down
He was at his best when cutting the lead to 42
No he wasn’t lmao he just could decelerate well like Luka
You need a certain level of athelticism to play in the NBA.
Absolutely. CP3 was athletic. It just wasn’t what his game relied on, so he could still play well for a long time once it declined
He obviously had great basketball IQ, but it’s still extremely impressive that he remained a very productive player into his late 30s. You certainly don’t get that with just basketball IQ.
Especially at his size. Its basically him and Stockton who were that productive at that age and size
And then a couple of days later he turned 37 and immediately fell off a cliff.
It was wild to watch in real time
“Is this the dagger”
“Ooohhhhh”
Paul cuts the lead to like 40 something
it’s actually insane how he stopped being the player he once was literally the game he turned 37
4 years is a long time
Wait till you get older, it’ll feel like yesterday
That was literally the game before he lost his superpowers
Nah he was great the first 2 games against Dallas. Game 3 and on he was never the same.
I mean he still look solid last year with the Spurs but you can’t deny that sending him home this year was a turning point in the Clippers season
He look solid in limited minutes
Yeah he relied a huge amount on his midrange shot and would look really good only in the fourth quarter. His defense was bad too. Really amazing for his age but he wasn’t a great player.
Solid as in he was most certainly in that state of matter yes
He literally played all 82 games with the Spurs lol
i remember he declined right after that, like RIGHT after. there was some stat how cp3 turned 37 in the Dallas series and played significantly worse after
I honestly think he could’ve played a bit longer if he didn’t commit to a retirement tour. He got too comfy in L.A but he looked geniuenly good last season
Opened the eight gates like Might Guy and never looked the same again
He also hit a huge 3 to cut a big lead in the decisive game 7
