Bronny James in the win @GSW: 10/1/3 with 2 steals on 4⁄7 FG
https://www.espn.com/nba/boxscore/_/gameId/401811025
10 points
1 rebound
3 assists
2 steals, 4⁄7 FG, 2⁄4 3PT
It scares some of y’all that he can genuinely grow into a good role player. He’s shown potential.
It annoys the living shit out of me, he was a 5 star recruit. His heart fucking stopped beating, he came back. If he died we would get the Reddit sympathy but instead he lived and is fine for his acumen
He wasn’t a five star recruit. But yeah think he can make a career being an impactful 7-8th man off the bench
I’d like to see him do that. From an outsider he seems like a decent kid
https://nypost.com/2023/03/07/bronny-james-climbs-recruiting-rankings-officially-a-5-star/
he can clearly play in the league to an extent but so can a bunch of fringe two way guys. if the point here is that people who said he absolutely didnt deserve any type of shot are wrong, then yeah they were. but i dont think he has a super long career ahead of him.
7⁄8 men that actually have value are usually guys who used to be starter level players like nic batum was for the past 5 or so years. if you’re a young guy and you don’t make any noise as a potential starting caliber player by like 23 you’re gonna be bouncing in and out of the league like killian hayes
It’s his second year and he is 21. He has outplayed JHS (gone) and Dalton (one more year until he’s out the league) who were first round picks. Can’t wait to see what he does year 3. Max Christie followed a similar timeline. Let the kid live, he has earned the spot everyone said was handed to him. He has beat out other players on the team fair and square. But folks just want to hate on him.
lmao this had like 20 upvotes last i checked now down to 5 never seen anything like it. laker nation strong as shit
i have nothing to add to this, however the bronny james in my basketball gm game i’ve got going is a starter for the bucks and very solid, which i just think is pretty funny.
I had Spencer hawes basically become KD for my wolves. I had t Mac become Jordan and bill russell infused being a 13 time champion on hard mode
that rules LOL
What game is this
His stats at USC were so bad that they didn’t even show them in the graphic. It was clear he wasn’t good enough compared to other prospects, but got a job because of his Dad.
Nobody would be hating on him if he played 1 or 2 more years in college before getting drafted.
https://awfulannouncing.com/college-basketball/pac-12-networks-bronny-james-winner-team-player.html
Kid could be the next Jamario Moon!
Everyone’s gangsta dragging Jamario Moon’s name until he pulls up to your local Lifetime Fitness and bodies everyone.
I’ve played against D1 dudes that couldn’t make it to the league and got absolutely bodied. People are dumb. As if a 4-6 year NBA career is some kind of failure.
The rest of us would call that an absolute dream come true.
Not in the US but I once played pickup with Evan Gilyard when he was playing in my country. He completely dominated every matchup we threw against him. It’s not like some random dudes, the people guarded him were pros and former pros, or at least had some experience with competitive basketball. At that time he hasn’t even got minutes in the G League.
That experience opened my eyes a lot.
I was highlighting how good even D1 players are but I actually played against Luke Ridnour when we were in high school and that was absolutely unreal. Unfortunately I was the best defender on the team and was tasked with defending him. Didn’t go well. At all.
Dragging?!!?
Jamario was a legit player with great athleticism and hops. Not the most well-rounded player, but he was super entertaining and had some good games for the Raps.
All hops, no brains… was still fun to see a Harlem Globe Trotter beat out a former lottery pick for a contract though
Reddit Is full of weirdos
I care about him just as much as every other 10th-13th man in the league
Sure, but these are such dumb stat lines to post.
What annoys me is the Laksrs think the same thing too. I remember last year he wouldn’t even go on the road with the south bay Lakers to get reps to help his development but would instead be stuck on the Laksrs bench only getting minutes in blowouts
All the haters that said he is worthless when he has shown improvement year after year.
2.3ppg last year and 2.5ppg this year. Are you talking about his instagram?
He looks a lot less lost this year than last year. His shooting is still iffy, but it has improved dramatically(still bad though haha), probably from a confidence issue more than anything, because of the amount of hate he got. His ball handling has gotten better and haven’t turned the ball over as much as before. The biggest improvement has been defense, where he is serviceable.
So yeah, eye test-wise he is better, but hey, keep hating.
Are you serious? Dude can’t handle the ball past his own half. I dunno what kind of potential you saw there
Bronny’s not a primary ball handler. He can do some when needed and is still improving, but he’s a defensive role player.
It’s against the lowly warriors and the parasocial obsession with LeBron is laughable
Why are Thunder fans always in a bad mood unless you praise SGA? Seems like they want all the attention to be on OKC.
It’s because they have the unfortunate reality of living in Oklahoma. Can’t blame them for being angry all the time.
I’d rather you praise Ajay Mitchell. Taken picks before Bronny.
OKC fans aren’t SGA fans. They are a fan of the team and not lazy like player first fans
Are you really jealous that someone made a post about Bronny James? Please, someone make a post about Ajay Mitchell so this guy can quit whining.
I have nothing to be jealous about.
Ajay Mitchell is the better player and NBA champ.
You sure? You seem upset my this post. It definitely hit a nerve.
I’m not. There’s a reason your comments have a lack of engagement when the Lakers lose and a lot more when they win.
Just an observation.
word to the wise my friend, pride comes before the fall…
True af, when the thunder implode, its gonna be spectacular.
word to da wise, rememba pearl harba 🤘🏼
Right. We can’t say anything bad about LeBron and his kid here or else his loyal subjects come to his defense
I must be loyale to my capo
We stealing dort from you cry about that too
That’s great. Luka still can’t play defense and roster composition is still horrible. Maybe you’ll lose by 30 vs OKC instead of 40.
You’ll settle for some bum like Deng or Mosgov. Other than LeBron, those are the only free agents the Lakers attract.
Lakers will get Dort to start diving at knees not worried
Haha
Lose by 29 then. Imagine thinking Dort is gonna magically turn the team around when you lose Lebron AND Reaves.
You’ll stick with busted ass Marcus Smart and you will like it!
It’s hilarious seeing an OKC fan getting triggered this badly in a Bronny post of all things lmaoo
It’s always the unflaired Lakers fans that only show up when they win
LMAOOO keep talking bud, drive up engagement on a Bronny appreciation post and more people will prob see it, keep it up!
Lebron ain’t gonna read you glazing his son champ
Thunder fans are so strange. Most people are happy when their team wins the chip but they instead become so miserable. It’s fascinating.
Miserable? Buddy project more lol. Dont be reddit pilled
i agree but you cannot be talking when your account is entirely based on dort 😭😭 of all people too.
School night. Go to bed. If you think my account is based on Dort, you are online too much.
He’s also lucky being lebrons son and the lakers coaching staff having a vested interest in developing him. No other late second round pick is getting the chance to play through his mistakes on a team like this especially when they showed early on they were not ready yet
Wtf are you talking about, when did Bronny get a chance to play through his mistakes? He barely played this year, and had to grind through the g-league the whole year
Yea and it looks like it might pay off.
Ironically the Warriors wanted to draft him for this very reason. They love their second generation players.
it would pay off for a majority of players coming to the league, that’s th epoint lol
Max Christie literally got to do the same on our team. And then we traded him and AD for Luka.
So what? This sounds like straight jealousy. If my Dad was in the NBA I would gladly accept the nepotism lol
Nepotism has been in professional sports, including the nba, for a very long time.
Everything *
One decent not even good game and now yall think he’s gonna be a “good role player”
Ledickrider fans strike again
Bronny’s entered the rotation over the last 9 games. It’s more than just one good game.
is it? His last 8 games:
Tonight: 10/1/3
OKC: 4/2/2 on 2 for 9 shooting
Dallas: 5/0/1
OKC: 10/0/1
Cleveland: 0/0/0 (only 7 minutes)
Wizards: 6/1/1 on 2 for 10 shooting
BKN: 3/0/0 (only 4 min)
Indy: 4/1/1
where are the good games?
Bruh none of those stats mean anything without watching the games lol. And even with that, you never use full game stats for limited minutes players. Role players dont get a lot of stats. If they had good per36s with low minutes they wouldnt be role players unless they were like a permanently hobbled star player like Dwight was.
Bronnys first two years are currently “better” than terry rozier’s first two years for an example that did become more than a good role player.
Edit: to be clear you should use per36 for role players but per36 is still better than comparing/looking-at full game stats lmao.
and bronny entered the league a year younger than rozier did. he’s still only 21.
You can’t just stat watch. Bronny’s a defensive role player. He gets limited minutes and plays hard in his shift. He can to some good defense, get some good reads and steals. He’s got good finishing for his size. His three ball is going well. He looks for his teammates. He’s gotta work on his handles, but he’s contributing to his team’s defensive scheme.
He’s being left open and his defensively impact is a media narrative
are you expecting him to drop 30 point triple doubles or something or are you incapable of understanding what a role player does
but he’s not a role player right?… he’s a fringe rotation guy that’s recently getting more minutes because of the injuries to the Lakers.
you don’t even know simple basketball terms but come on here and spew bullshit?
what did i define wrong? role players play more than just blow-out game situations.
The nicknames is wild. Immature.
I said he could grow into a good role player. No guarantees, just he’s shown signs of potential.
I mean, I’m sure a lot of second-rounders could grow into role players if given the amount of development/resources that Bronny got.
I do love how the goalposts on this sub moved from “Bronny will never be an NBA player” to “Yeah well a lot of players could’ve succeeded in his position.” Never take the L
Bro was 55th and gets lottery pick hate.
It’s ironic because so many people talk about the idea he has favorable treatment/reception from the fans because he’s Lebron’s son, and yet in truth on the flipside there is a ton of people who overscrutinize and attack him when no one would even be doing so if he wasn’t.
As you said, he is absolutely fine for where he was drafted at.
The worst part is Bronny actually has a great story. He literally almost died, worked his way back into shape, and yeah he struggled in college, but you could see him slowly getting back into form and slowly developing into a role player who can become a good addition to a team. Anyone else this is an incredible story.
He doesn’t even get treated special. He just be in the g league 90% of the time and gets minutes here and there if players are out just like any other end of bench guy. He just gets a lot of attention, unprompted by him btw, because his name gets clicks
Exactly he got pick 55th and gets 55th pick treatment.
Yep, proves a good system and support can make a basketball player out of anyone if they have the right tools and mindset.
Sounds like it would be smart to do that with second rounders if it makes them better players.
Dont worry theyre gonna post the clip of him turning the ball over and its gonna have 5000 upvotes lol
Was always a dumb post
Cason Wallace does that to All-NBAers too
Makes me think of the stephen A segment of him begging Lebron to save Bronny because Tyrese Maxey was scoring on him. All-star, all-nba guard was doing what he does and all of a sudden bron is a bad parent. what are we doing
His sole purpose in life is to generate views and as long what he says gets attention he’ll be successful
That play you’re referring too was a nothing burger and honestly more of a coaching / play calls issue having your 2nd round pick that still heavily under development bring the ball up against Cason Wallace
I think what OP is referring to is a play in tonight’s game where Bronny was bringing the ball up and he slipped and turned the ball over right around half court.
Honestly those slips and similar turnovers used to happen way more often before these past few weeks where he’s been getting minutes. Dude used to hardly be able to bring the ball up at all and now he’s consistently doing it and very occasionally slips up and makes a poor play. He’s clearly getting better with each game he plays.
Oh, you mean as opposed to him taking a normal, everyday shot and it getting 10k upvotes?
He’s been improving, I hope he gets a better season next year
If Bronny was on the wizards getting 30 min a game he’d average 17/4/6
So what’s everyone’s guess after Lebrons gone next year? Do they trade him to where Dad goes?
He’s not leaving. He just doesn’t want the lakers to low ball him
It’s weird to post these stat lines like they mean anything. He again was in during garbage time including a wide open 3 pointer in the last seconds of the game.
This dude has been slowly getting better each game. He can legitimately be a solid rotation player in the league or even starter with hard work.
He survived a heart attack . This is amazing
I don’t know about starter just yet but he’s absolutely proven that he can be a legit lower end bench guy at worst.
These threads are so fascinating to me. There’s a group that despises him and a group that’s victory lapping an okay 10th man stat line and talking about how he could be a “legit lower end of bench guy.”
Just about anyone getting minutes could be a legit lower end of bench guy. You can pick any random game and find someone who you’ve never heard of putting up 10/1/3 games.
True.
However, the vast majority of Bronny’s draft class are not as good as him. Objectively speaking. He’s in the 75-85th percentile roughly.
So 🤷🏾♂️ if everybody deserved minutes, everyone would play. Some guys get a DNP marathon. I don’t think it’s wrong to appreciate a guy who has worked his way into the rotation despite everyone saying he doesn’t deserve a contract.
For a 55th pick, a 10th man on the bench is kind of a good outcome already.
No, not anyone can get minutes just because. He has earned his spot during practices, scrimmages and gleague games. Getting to lower end of the bench means battling it out on games that we aren’t seeing.
I’m curious what some of the people here were saying when he recently was getting bitched by Cason Wallace (obviously a very very good defender but still)…Like its ok to pump the brakes just a little.
I have my praises for Bronny he has certainly been exceeding my expectations. But my expectations have not skyrocketed to suddenly like being a starter or really good role player. He can obviously grow into that but he still has significant flaws in his game that he needs to improve on.
He got bitched by a guy who well kinda bitches most players.
Obviously? My point is that there were popular comments from that Thunder game saying some wildly different things about Bronny after that performance
Such as… “Bronny is waste of a roster spot and everyone including Bronny and LeBron know it, but no one will say or do anything about it because it’s a small price to pay to keep the King happy.”
And all I’m trying to say is now we are seeing popular comments in the wildly opposite direction, when tbh I am not swayed in either direction regarding how I view him as a player.
Yeah you can see him out there learning new things every game he plays
Cardiac arrest which is worse. I would go as far as saying that this is way more underplayed than what people are seeing.
Majority of this sub thought they could beat Bronny in basketball btw
But could Bronny beat Scalabrine?
Who is closer to LeBron, I wonder. Might be Bronny because I think they may be related
I mean, they have a father son relationship and share DNA. You can’t get any closer than that.
idk man scalabrine’s half a foot taller
Genetically speaking, Bronny is closer to Lebron than Scalabrine is to me.
Tbf you haven’t seen the majority of this sub play
Would this sub rather play against a single Bronny-sized duck, or a hundred duck-sized Bronnys?
Provided exactly what was needed off the bench but I’m sure haters gonna hate.
I got downvoted to hell in another thread for suggesting he has more potential roster value than Thanasis
The haters are so ridiculous
Shit he’s got more roster value than anyone the Lakers drafted in the last 3 years
Our best pick since reaves lol and reaves wasnt even a “pick”
I mean Christie is good lol
Big Bronny fan but Max Christie clears
i saw something on youtube that claimed he was the worst NBA player of all time which is just so fucking stupid it is hard to comprehend. ive seen keljin blevins play. bronny is 10 times the player he was, at least.
Exactly. People are blinded by their hate with James Sr. that they cant see Bronny is overachieving for his position in the draft. Sure, he is undersized but he is stronger, faster than most of the 2nd string bench warmers in the league in his position.
Alex Antetokounmpo is playing in the NBA btw
The hilarious thing about people hating on bronny is that he’s miles better than Knecht who was taken 17th lol
Omg… I forgot about him. Is he still on the team?
Unfortunately
Lakers bench is full of bum, LMAO. It’s sad at how many blunders our FO have made in recent years.
I wouldn’t go that far. Bronny is above him in the depth chart. But JJ just hates Knecht. Knecht needs a new team. He’ll be okay if he gets another chance. LeBron and JJ killed his confidence so now he’s too scared to do anything.
Knecht got plenty of opportunities. He’s just not that good unfortunately.
Knecht isn’t even a basketball player
He is really bad and was playing poorly even before the trade
Lebron James Jr. is closer to Lebron James as a basketball player than you are to Lebron James Jr.
Is it fair to say Bronny is closer to LB than Scalabrine is? I think so, at least genetically-speaking.
Can yall stop the giannis brother comparisons. He’s an actual nba player
Have you seen Thanasis highlight reels?
If bronny headbutts Blake Griffin I’ll put him above Kostas
I was at the game tonight, nothing like seeing the Curry vs James matchup we all wanted to see when Seth was bodying up Bronny. Amazing stuff.
#SeeingDouble
The Father and Son were enough to beat the Warriors, but we’re gonna need the Holy Spirit to win a first round series.
I feel like if hayes and smart are back there’s still a decent chance. Anything to get ayton to play the bench.
He’ll be a solid role player
Feel like he could become a defensive menace similarly to Marcus Smart. Definitely has a role somewhere with the right developmental minutes.
It’s really his height that’s his biggest obstacle at this point. If he was 3-4 inches taller, he’d be a solid rotation player.
Actual tragedy how short he is because if he was taller he would’ve looked as much better prospect… and would be able do much more stuff
He doesn’t need the height though. If he can shoot near 40% from 3 in NBA games then he will be a legitimate rotation player. Think he just has some nerves cause I’m pretty sure he’s already shooting 40% from 3 in g league.
Question is would JJ replace Vanderbilt with Bronny if he was shooting 40% from 3? Vanderbilt is 6ft 8 so rebounding is easier, but he only shoots 30% from 3.
I’m unironically a Bronny fan, the kid is a dog and I love seeing him improve. Seems like an awesome teammate who just loves to hoop and play Call of Duty.
Nobody cares
The bar for post worthy stats gets lower and lower
Its happening…
He deserves to be in the nba no matter what anyone says. Even if he’s only gonna be a role player
Nepo baby gets unlimited tries because of Hall of Fame father and scores 10 points for once. Wooooaaaowwwww.
LeBron owning the Warriors as usual.
He is going to be a good role player in 3 years as long as he gets playtime to develop.
Having your oldest player’s son show up and fix your team’s need for a defense-first guard is the most rec-league story I have ever seen in the NBA
There’s a lot of funny takes in this thread from both sides. Will be interesting to see what happens
He is still a long way from making an impact consistently at the NBA level. The only thing he really does decently is defense. Everything else is pretty bad still.
GOAT
Haters are seething lmao
Honestly if you look at it objectively, he can genuinely be a decent role player
He has potential to be good in the league
Nepotism and fans parasocial LeBron obsession is through the roof. Wouldn’t surprise me if casuals think he’s the best 2nd round pick of last years draft when Ajay Mitchell exists
Bro is all over this thread lol. You are the same as all the “parasocial” fans
Nah, I like talking about talented players that aren’t on the roster cause their senior citizen basketball player played GM
Nah you are definitely just as obsessed just in the opposite way
Sounds like cope. Enjoy your cute little win today though!
How old are you? Serious question.
Not answering such a predatory question. Also flair up
I’m guessing it’s under 18.
Again, mega predatory question.
Pretty hypocritical accusation, no? Almost like you’re projecting…
A lot of Thunder fans are wild and immature. Whenever they’re not the center of attention they act like this. Let someone make a post about Jokic or Wemby being MVP. Thunder fans run in with pitchforks.
Says the Lakers fan feeling good after beating the Curry-less 10 seed.
Are you ok?
I am. You came at me and I responded. Go to bed. School night.
You need a hug.
School night. Shoo.
