OG had the same surgery in 2019 just before the playoffs and he missed the entire playoff run

I think OG’s appendix had ruptured though so maybe Embiid’s recovery won’t be as long if his appendix is still intact

Probably done for the season. Had appendicitis surgery myself last year and for at least 3-4 weeks if all goes well without any infections you cant do any exercise. So at least that, + whatever time it will get to get conditioning

I am tired of suffering

Depends on what kind of surgery, 1-3 weeks do a laparoscopic surgery, if it’s open surgery it’s like a month. So he has a chance to comeback in time but minutes will probably be heavily restricted for 2-3 more weeks after.

I thought the basketball gods were giving them a break front-loading the injuries so they return right at the start of the playoffs. Guess not.

People literally give him shit for being injured but if you ever go back and watch those injuries he is absolutely crushed by them.

He’s been one of my favorite players and least favorite players multiple times throughout his career

A joy to watch when he’s locked in, a disappointment to watch when he’s clearly flopping/lazy/etc, and ultimately a sympathetic watch when you see him gut through injuries only to get fucked again

I feel worse for Embiid than I do for another wasted season.

All the work he does to get back and the rug just gets pulled out from under him every time.

Appendectomies basically always are. If that thing bursts, you’re cooked, and it doesn’t take long.

Appendix surgery is always an emergency because if it ruptures, you could get sepsis.

If they’re doing it in Houston, yes. His appendix may have burst or was likely going to and they have to get it out before it does

I’ve had it it’s a pretty routine surgery. Healing varies person to person my stomach hurt like shit for months and had to spend quite a while in bed and was hard to walk. However for these athletes and recovery and better quality surgeons it’s probably less.

Looks to be about 4-6 weeks to get back into sports after surgery with no complications.

Next up: Ebola!
