He so far is living up to the hype!
Only one single 19 year old has ever been better at basketball than Cooper and his name is LeBron James.
Luka Doncic?
Averaged 21/8/6 in his rookie season at age 19.
Was a Euroleague MVP before that
Luka turned 20 during his rookie season. Cooper turned 19 during his.
There’s an argument he’s better than that as well. LeBron made a huge leap in his 2nd year, and Flag making a similar jump instantly puts him in MVP conversations for 2027.
There’s no argument that he’s better than Bron
Parts of his game are better, and some worse, but overall I agree.
mvp convos maybe but luka, sga, jokic, ant, cade, jb will most likely all still be better
Wemby was better at 19 tbh, although coop is still younger than wemby was at his debut so who knows
Wemby looked like a lost baby deer at 19.
Get this man a top 4 pick to co-star. I want to see what Cooper can do for the next 10 years.
Sorry, best I can do is trade him to the Lakers for Bronny James and a 2nd round pick.
gotta trade bron to
Solid averages despite being 13⁄43 from the field in his last two games!
dropping 51 and 45 helps a lot
I’m excited to see how he deals with Wemby and Castle tomorrow. He’s grown a lot since the first matchup.
Mavs gotta hit on their next draft pick. When Kyrie comes back and if he stays healthy this is at least a play in team. Unless they embrace the tank to try and get another lotto pick next year
We don’t have our first round pick next year
By embracing the tank I mean trades. Get a pick back that may be late lottery
What trade did you lose it in?
Hornets have their 2027 pick top 2 protected from the PJ Washington trade
God damn your rebuild is looking good.
Time to be ASS
The one for PJ with the hornets I think. Top 2 protected 🥴
I think the more impressive thing is that he’s maintaining and even improving his defense and taking care of the ball while having this massive usage. The fact that a rookie is doing this is insane.
He’s in the top 10% of the league in terms of shots contested, and holding opponents to 40% FG with 2.9 stocks - while having a 36%+ usage rate over this stretch (higher than players like Tatum and Edwards in usage).
On top of that he’s taking care of the ball, averaging a better A/TO then either of those guys.
Literally the only thing holding him back is his scoring efficiency. But he’s having to shoulder the whole offense himself with terrible spacing and poor offensive talent around him, while being the focus of the D every game.
The future is bright with him doing all of this at only 19.
Very impressive, hopefully he can be more of a winner next year.
What’s this new trend of people trying to take a small sample of games to post stats of?
What point are you trying to make lol
Small sample size doesn’t tell you much about an entire season but does let you see the most recent trends. Data closer to the present is more relevant/useful than data that’s 6 months old, so while I agree it’s a small sample size, it’s not totally worthless.
I hope Mavs and Spurs play in the 1st round next year
On like -3 TS%
I think he is amazing but his offense is getting over-hyped a bit as he has insane volume. Dude is chucking and running up his averages vs tanking teams
Oh no a literal first year player isn’t hyper efficient. Pack it up boys
He will improve but I have people saying he is a better offensive player than rookie Luka and I think my brain is about to explode.
Wemby had a 57% TS as a CENTER his Rookie Year. But people (rightfully) focused on the fact that he was good at creating his own shots and had good shot mechanics, as those are better indicators. And what do you know? He’s amazing this year
His TS as a rookie matters much less than his shots mechanics, game sense and ability to create his own shots. Those are better indicators of his potential to be a great offensive player.
He came into the league at 18. Its not exactly easy to score efficiently on high volume as a rookie. Especially considering he doesnt have a great team around him
Wemby was not a good offensive player at all for a large portion of that season. Most of his value was defence. He is also a big and we asked him to self create a lot, something coop also suffers from but to a lesser extent.
People see me call out him chucking and assume I think he will never be a good player which is just wrong. I just think people overestimate his current skill level. He will improve but I hear people talking about him being the best offensive teenager ever when Luka exists
You literally just made a strawman argument. Ive literally never seen anyone call Flagg a better “offensive teenager” than Luka.
Like if you wanna base youre entire argument on that sure you’re correct but youre fighting ghosts because no one says that
Same criticism Wemby was getting from casuals as a rookie
People see me call out him chucking and assume I think he will never be a good player which is just wrong. I just think people overestimate his current skill level. He will improve
Coop suffers from self creation? 70% of his points are self created in one of the worst spacing teams in the league.
He would be scoring more on less shots if he needed to self create less. Same for Wemby in his rookie year were we had Sochan running point and didn’t know how to throw a lob.
I don’t actually think we know what coop looks like as an offensive player as he is being sued terribly, even if it might be good for development.
Holy shit this sub needs to eliminate TS from their vocabulary… Efficiency is but one factor of dozens that go into winning basketball games. By itself it is not a valid point towards anything.
Cooper Flagg may never even be more than league average efficiency and yet he’s still going to be competing for MVP’s and leading contenders for the next 15 years.
It’s a statistic that backs up my eye test but nobody wants to hear just an opinion.
I think he is shooting a lot of shots vs single coverage in blowout games where the other team is already up by 20. His pull up jump shooting is poor and is over reliant on floaters. He finishes well when he gets to the rim but his frequency is lower than I would like.
The efficiency is just pointing out that he shoots A LOT to put up these stats. And in no way am I saying he won’t be an amazing player just that is offense is currently over-hyped and in his prime a lot more of his value will come from his defense than currently.
Volume on bad teams is something you have to take into account unless you believe 24 PPG Cam Thomas was gonna be an amazing player
TS gets way overused. It’s almost used as a way to throw away a ton of stats “but his TS”.
55.1 TS% compared to Kon at 52.1%
Kon TS is 63.7%
So stop lying please

Are you seeing something different?
Was talking season averages
10 game sample size is a joke is a joke
No one mentioned Kon man why are you guys so defensive and weird about this stuff lol
I’ve been hearing all year about how Kons TS% was so good and Coopers was so bad, so I did a comparison, and to my surprise Cooper was higher than Kon. Thought it was a useful comparison.
Yes. ALL YEAR.
Okay now do last 80 games instead of last 10 and see who has the higher ts%
okay but who has a better mustache?
Yes let’s compare cooper best 10 game span to Kons worst to start a meaningful argument
His ts is 54. That is right around average.
This year TS average is 58.1
Do you know what the word around means?
League average is 58
26 points on 23 shot attempts a game isnt that crazy lol
Better than Kon averaging 14 on 13 shots shooting 40% from the field on his last 10. lol
Flagg is actually averaging 26 on 20 shots in his last 10 but I guess you needed to skew it since you are a hornets fan. 🤡
Yeah Kon has been bad recently (injured, Cooper was also extremely bad after coming back from injury). I used the last 5 games instead of last 10 tho, didnt skew anything. 5 and 10 games are pretty small sample sizes for efficiency tho, Why dont we just use last 80 games?
The post is about last 10 games. Yeah you wanted to skew it.
Maybe he should sit if he is injured? Guess he isnt Mr.Consistent all season like he is touted to be
Are you okay? No one even brought up Kon and here you are raging up a storm
Can’t say they aren’t trying to give cooper a end of season push for ROTY lol
