[Highlight] Aaron Gordon is called for the foul and argues with the ref, insisting it was a moving screen.
The screen do be moving
It certainly do
Do be
“It do go down”
Ref was like “So what? It’s not Illegal to set a moving screen, Gordon. Imagine that lol”
Definitely looks like a moving screen
The warriors won 4 championships doing way worse than that
I mean, not quite
[deleted]
What are you talking about? The screener can move in the same direction as the defender, not the ball handler.
Are we the SGA of moving screens? I swear every team does it.
Also looks like an offensive foul, he would have been better off flopping or just trying to go around the screen. That’s just how the game is officiated.
If Gordon falls to the ground here instead of pushing through, they 100% call the moving screen. Refs are just stupid asses who only call moving screens when you embellish the contact
It’s not that he didn’t flop it’s that he threw a forearm. Extending your arm out like that makes it an easy call for the refs.
Unless you’re on offense :D
he would have been better off flopping
And people wonder why the league has a flopping problem. Or they blame the players.
Or they blame the players.
I mean the players share a little blame. Lol.
The biggest problem is not the refs though. Basketball is incredibly hard to officiate. I’ve officiating at far younger (and therefore slower, less physical, and less crafty) levels and there are still 4 or 5 judgement calls where you could call something on every single play. People don’t understand how incredible NBA refs actually are for getting it right the vast majority of the time.
The problem is that the NBA doesn’t use the replay technology available to them to hold players accountable for flops. There are dozens of small fixes that would make a big difference and the NBA just won’t do it..
AG isn’t a bitch. Dort would be on the deck though.
it is a moving screen, but he didn’t have to bash his elbows into him
No it’s call pass blocking
5 need to put some weight on before he does that to AG lol. Ref bailed him out there
Hahaha exactly! AG let the youngun what’s up tho … he won’t be doing that again 🤣
lmfaooooooo fr. he flew like a ragdoll
That guy is done screening against Gordon tonight
Well thats clearly a moving screen isnt it?
Moving screens were made almost completely legal around 2015
You can grab and hold people now too. Super frustrating to watch.
Yes, but they are going to prioritize the forearm shove foul from AG over a moving screen. It’s the right call.
AG knew he was going to get called for a foul right here, though. He ran through it to make a point to both the screener and the refs. That’s why he says “that’s a moving screen” and not “I didn’t foul him.” He picked up a foul to prove his point.
Shouldn’t that be a double foul then
yup it was 100% intentional lol
AG basically slows to a walk before the ref even calls the foul because he was well aware it was a foul, if it wasn’t done to send a message he wouldn’t run through the screen and then, you know, stop
I didn’t catch the second half of this one so idk if it made the intended point with the refs but I’d be very surprised if #5 set many screens for the rest of the game lol
Trying to moving screen Aarom Gordon means you are the one getting moved
people writing thesis statements on why players getting injured cause of fast pace yet the fix is so obvious. simply enforce the rules
call the obvious travels, carrying and moving screens that happen multiple times every possession
The moving screens are the biggest ones. The reason it should be a foul is because it creates significantly more contact than the rule book allows for.
If you had a ref crew with the balls to enforce it then you’d see moving screens stop pretty quick
that requires competent referees….
Brother that was a part of the video you didn’t watch.
That’s an obvious moving screen. Refs only call absolutely egregious moving screens as fouls.
He forgot to flail and fall over
Might as well just let offenses put blockers to let guys get open. And hey, we’d let the big uglies (as John Madden affectionately called them) have a chance to shine in basketball.
Welcome to the Zaza and Bogut Warriors
Yea, and let defenders continuously hold and maul Steph off ball. Welcome to the modern NBA
that was a moved screen
SGA shooting a free throw somewhere
Maybe still upset that he was hit in the nuts before.
Yeaaa thats not on AG
The refs in this game were really pulling for Memphis. Jamal got 3 fouls in the 1st quarter, Big Val got 4 in like 2 minutes, etc.
looked like AG was fully expecting it to be moving lol. maybe it’s not the first tonight and he’s over it.
Double foul tbh
Absolutely hilarious that no one fell over on this play but a dude tried to use physics to convince me that Kevin Huerter could use one finger to touch SGA’s shooting hand to make him crumple to the floor.
kind of an ambiguous situation when you look at the rulebook (I think, anyway)
the offensive player was on his way to set a moving screen, Gordon saw it, altered his course slightly, dipped his shoulder and deliberately bashed into him. Does “he was moving” take precedence?
If we say this should be a foul on the screener, then how egregious would the defender’s initiation of contact have to be to override a moving screen call, maybe a deliberate forearm to the side of the head?
It was a moving screen, but you can’t throw a forearm shiver like that. Easy call that the refs are going to make 100% of the time.
Aaron read and caught him long before the actual screen was set. This was just two dudes ramming into each other.
He’s not wrong
Serious question. Is running through a screen a foul? He did look to lower a shoulder with some intent. But is that a foul, surely it is just a play, a screen is set.
Yeah, terrible call. Also, poor use of the word “highlight”
AG is correct about the screen, and the ref also made the correct call
that absolutely is a moving screen in the making and it was obvious enough that it likely would have been called, but you still can’t just lower your shoulder and preemptively blow straight through a guy like that just because he’s about to set a moving screen lol
imo if AG runs into it normally, maybe sells the contact as he goes by it, then it’s very likely he gets the call. possibly even if he just didn’t do the exaggerated chicken wing right at the end
And what does this shitty rule enforcement incentivize? Flopping. Whereas if you just consistently call the initial illegal contact, the moving screen, there would be no need to flop
They always bail out the smaller player when a bigger stronger guy gets physical even though the smaller guy initiated
I feel like you missed my point? In this case AG is the one who commits the initial illegal contact. As I said in the previous comment, just because you see that a guy is about to set a moving screen, it doesn’t give you carte blanche on initiating illegal contact of your own beforehand.
Flopping (in this case, it would be selling legitimate contact) was only a small part of what I said; just running into the moving screen normally even without selling the contact probably gets the call in this case, because it was pretty blatant. But trucking the guy before he even finishes committing the thing that you want the refs to call is obviously unlikely to get you the call lol
Makeup calls from the blazers game
Why is this a highlight tho? I don’t understand
Because Gordon bodychecked somebody and physical violence is funny?
Bro is getting some bullshid tattoos lol
That’s rich, given how many moving screens Joker does per game.
Is jokic drawing charges? If not, how exactly is that relevant?
AG always complains when he plays us too
AG is one of the most chill dudes in the league. If he’s complaining then it probably is egregious like in this clip
In what world is that not a moving screen?
