Everybody is playing under the same circumstances at the end of the day. Only thing unfortunate for them is that they never got to have a parade or anything like that.

I have full respect for the 2020 ring. trust me i would have LOVED for the Nuggets to have won that one. I was different but in no way to me less real or less valuable. teams were playing hard as hell, anyone that says otherwise is revising history.

I never understand the asterisk crowd. The Lakers/Nuggets/Celtics/Heat were the conference finalists in the bubble. It was the same 4 finalists in 2023. 2 of the 3 won a a championship in the next few years and the one that didn’t (Heat) made multiple ECF/Finals runs. The Lakers themselves made a WCF run a few years later. So I don’t get what was flukey about it

The whole “Mickey Mouse Ring” narrative like 90% stems from the Lakers being the ones that won it. 10% was TV pundits knowing they weren’t really gonna have anything to cover until September so they just fed into that.

I mean tbf if a team like the clippers, suns etc won their first championship in the bubble it would be kinda underwhelming.

It doesn’t count. Old ass Lebron and Mr. Glass had months to rest and recover before the bubble. They would not have competed at that level if the playoffs happened when they were supposed to.

yeah getting a ring and him being healthy are two low probability phenomena by themselves. so having them both is extraordinary.

Mostly it was just boring and anticlimactic. The Heat were dead in the water with 2 of their 3 best players out, the lack of fans was felt acutely, and nobody watched it because the NFL was already playing and the MLB Playoffs was starting. Nobody cared, which retroactively makes people denigrate the championship because it’s so forgettable.

This is so sad. I honestly believe if anyone but the Lakers won, we’d just refer to it as a championship

It’s so dumb to try and diminish that championship. All 30 teams had the same circumstance and ¹⁄₃₀ teams won the championship just like every other season. If anything slight disadvantage to the lakers to not get home court advantage in any series as the number 1 seed

There were a lot of great series in that bubble run and the games leading up to the playoffs felt like they all mattered. The Suns established themselves as an up and coming team, dame had his famous im not here to waste my time line. Every team (eh maybe not the clippers) were playing their ass off in a neutral playing field. To say the Bubble ring is lesser than others is just absurd. Its not like the Lakers sleepwalked through the whole playoffs

it was less asterisk championship to me than the raptors when the warriors lost klay and kd in the same series. the only thing kind of iffy is you could tell it wasn’t peak competition cause a lot of guys just weren’t in it from a mental standpoint, everything was just weird

How AD can compete for a championship:

Go to a team with a strong defensive guard.

The biggest mistake I keep seeing with the teams he has been on since the ring is that they keep giving him defensive liabilities at the guard position and expecting his defensive prowess to recover for the team since he has to cover the penetration so often. He is so good that he recovers the penetration and still is able to cover ground back to his man/zone to be in the handlers face.

Also his best years from an eye test(maybe not statistically) are when he had strong defensive guards(Jrue, Rondo, Caruso) even in the Olympics he looked great when he shared the floor with Booker.

I think he will do fine on the Wizards because he is an incredible talent but if it’s about championships or contending for one teams like The Suns, Wolves, Atlanta, and potentially the Pistons would be overall better fits for him from a gameplay standpoint while not changing too much and adding to how they are currently successful.

Fuck the noises. Regardless of where it was competed, the entire league had the same opportunity to compete. The only thing that individual champ should ponder about is did you win because opponents in the finals got injured and not played in all the series? They say injuries are part of the game, okay, if that makes them feel better. Bubble champs are real champs imo.

It counts as a championship but to put it on the level on every other championship in NBA history is disrespectful

As a Bucks fan, the bubble sucked because Milwaukee was having an incredible season… UNTIL the bubble happened and then they fell apart. But they were still playing basketball on an even court under the same circumstances. Sounds like a Championship to me.
