To be fair they were playing great basketball through March.. That Okc game the other night was insane. Was the biggest game of the year for Luka to try & argue his case against SGA for mvp. End up just getting bullied. He could barely bring the ball up the court with a defender suffocating him. Lakers lose their top 2 stars to injury for the year & ends any day dreams of making it to the finals.

They weren’t beating okc or the spurs but what a rodeo. Not gonna lie, that was brutal 🤣

I think it comes with the realization that the game will inherently have more eyes looking at it

A similar thing has been happening this season in comparison to the last one for OKC where last one teams, even the tanking ones, were way more likely to give up on a game against us after a lead or more likely to come in playing with a clear intention to tank. Then the team won a ring last season and this season even the tanking teams show up to try and make it a game against us, it feels like very few times did teams accept an L against us this season without putting up a fight. And I think it’s pretty much the same, players know the game against the reigning champions gathers more eyes and attention, so they try harder than they would if they were playing one of the tanks or something

The nuggets when healthy are much closer to the spurs and thunder than they are to the lakers. They have better depth, better roster construction, and the best player. Of the two lakers win, 1 game was without jokic during a massive injury slump for the nuggets, and the other murray went ¹⁄₁₄ from the field. Their teams performance before this 9 game win streak was inconsistent/ass, but having your teams best offensive player coming back from injury and not being 100 percent in shape will do that. He’s been better recently and the nuggets have been winning.
