The 2024 Celtics were dominant. But they went through an eastern conference filled with injuries. And the conference finals against the Pacers would have stretched out by a game or two if Indiana didn’t completely fall apart in the clutch. Those two factors contributed to their 16-3 record.

Surely it has to take into account 1) winning the game, 2) playing some minimum minutes or maybe starting the game, and 3) not leaving due to injury or ejection etc? Points per minute should be in the conversation when talking about mvp candidates. Someone playing 5-6 minutes a game less is of course scoring fewer points

People love to bring up last year but the thunder have much more experience, are more polished, and dub isn’t playing on a bum wrist. Tell me how the regular season went with Denver, they couldn’t beat a hobbled OKC with 5 players out.
OKC will finish with a lower net rating and record than last season.
Also, if their biggest injury season was J-Dub, which was something he could play through, that’s actually good injury luck. There could be worse this year (someone actually having to miss playoff games).
Regular season matchups have proven to be not predictive many times. Of the 3 Denver games, 2 came down to the last shot. I don’t think there’s any takeaway there that would indicate it would be an easy series for OKC

As we found out last year one possession can easily decide a game and either of the series will inevitably have a game like that.
I do think we are more equipped to beat Demver this year. We’ve improved drastically against zone, have a third capable ball handler and more shooting. Our defense if anything has got better due to Wallace’s and Chet’s improvements.
I would still back OKC over Demver in six, because G1 last year required an all time meltdown to lose it. That mistake won’t happen again this year.
I just think that the perimeter defense, plus SGA and dual big lineup is a specially tough match up for Denver. But we’ll see as it will be an edge of the seat series if it does eventuate.

Agree injuries play a large role in it. They dealt with some injuries too last season (I remember a couple of their 14 losses were games without Chet and Ihart), although to a lesser extent.
I also think it’s interesting to note OKC’s struggles vs San Antonio. They didn’t have a team have their number like that last season.
