Obviously I was extremely happy about shai breaking the 20 point streak but the weeks leading up having a countdown of the last like 20 games of it was genuinely unbearable even as a thunder fan. There was 3+ post every day about it.

No shade on WB’s achievements at all. He was awesome, and still is just a wee bit less. It’s just that he was very aware of the stats in his first season averaging triple double which lead to the whole stat padding narrative…

That’s not unique to Jokic, seems they’re a bit more loose with counting assists than back in the day in general, but even if you removed all those he’d still be way up there.

He also has so many amazing would-be assists that don’t count because they end in fouls/foul shots (or they miss open shots). It all balances out I think

Centers don’t tend to be nearly that good at passing even if they are used as a hub, and they’re often not used as a hub either - mostly because of the previous point.

It mainly popped up after a recent game where he had 19 (?) assists and some of them were relatively weak assists, albeit still assists for the most part by league rules and one that shouldn’t have been given. A bunch of people went crazy over it about how its rigged, he’s padding and hes not actually that good because of one random post showing 1 clip from 1 player. Even though his numbers are mostly the same away versus at home.

Jokic has .8 more assists at home this season. Doncic has .4, SGA has .2, just to compare him to some of his peers, qualitywise. However, Jokic has more, presumably, real assists, so the variance is probably about the same.
