I disagree. In terms of “aesthetics”, the ISO’s, the stepback 3s, the cooking people on the perimeter, was beautiful. Was it repetitive? Sure, but in terms of aesthetically pleasing, an isolation at the 3 point line followed by a 28-foot 3 pointer in someone’s face is one of the most aesthetically pleasing plays in basketball.

Personally, I prefer that to a guy running around 3 illegal screens and catching and shooting.

But yet his style was able to take the best team ever to seven games in the playoffs… Say what you want it was very effective

This is my answer. He’s a wonderfully talented scorer who unfortunately made a career out of the most shameless foul grifting imaginable. When people say Avdija or SGA is the worst grifter ever I just assume they’re eight years old and don’t remember Harden’s prime. I think it was Dragonfly Jones who described his game as “dribble dribble dribble dribble dribble dribble dribble AHH REF HE SHOT ME!”

Harden also pioneered the “jump sideways or backwards into the defender to draw a foul” era and that’s pretty much the worst thing I’ve ever seen. Thankfully the NBA got rid of that abomination. Tried to get a couple buddies into the NBA during that time and they would watch a Rockets game and be like “this isn’t basketball, I’m good.”

Oh, that is a good call. One of my favorite plays of all time was Jimmy drawing a foul in the finals by kicking Aaron gordon in the balls.

I loved his game during the Bulls/Twolves/sixers days. Once he went to the Heat and the switch flipped in his head that he could draw a foul on any drive to the rim it got ugly

The way he moves his body is just odd. None of his mechanics looks smooth at all, they all look like he’s being piloted via remote control

That + his movement in general makes me think of a baby goat or something along those lines. Still incredibly good and all, but it is jarring.

Early Randle was defo hard to watch. Been much better ever since he started playmaking for others and developed an outside shot.

It’s not just his height/wingspan. Lots of players have that. He has elite defensive timing and anticipation. He has no problem catching a lob and dunking it–he’s very good at it. But pass the ball to him below shoulder height and it’s like he’s trying to catch a BB.
