I think a lot of folks aren’t doing their hw to observe his impact because Kon and Millers shooting percentages take noticeable drops when he isn’t on the court.

It’s very much an eye test thing. When they’re all on the court together, he’s serving them up looks on a platter. Like half of the looks Kon gets when he shares the floor with Lamelo are either wide open or he’s catching the ball with a defender a step or 2 behind him off very minimal movement.

Idk how legit hoopologyviz.com is, but go look up Lamelo’s on off impact on Kon this season. Kon shoots like 8% worse overall and 11% worse when he plays in minutes that Lamelo sits. I think Kon literally shoots over 50% from 3 when he’s on the court with Lamelo.

It’s insane that Lamelo isn’t an obvious all nba guy this year with how well Charlotte has played after that awful start.

I too was on the Kon train, but he’s hit a bit of a wall the last 10-15 games, there’s a ⁵⁰⁄₅₀ chance any given night he puts up a stinker. Like tonight both he and miller played bad and they won by 20, it really feeds the narrative that’s he’s on a pretty good team. Also I think him winning the league 3 pt made race has kind of an asterix as curry, luka, lamelo all missed significant games. Luka almost certainly would’ve passed him taking 15 3’s a game the last month

Technically Kon leads in points on the season. Coop has been babied this year. The team’s only real goal is for him to win rookie of the year and he has been catered to.

He’s sat a ton of games he could have played in because the Mavs don’t care about winning. Prime example is their first showdown this year, both teams came in on a b2b. They sat Coop for the first game and let him walk in to a primetime showdown well rested. Meanwhile Kon has played through almost everything.

If Coop’s back was fucked up like Kon’s has been lately he likely wouldn’t have played a single game. I love Coop, but one of these guys is playing real, gritty NBA basketball that actually matters, and the other is tanking in MyPlayer mode
