[Highlight] Tobias Harris to Philadelphia: “Get ready for the fucking Play-In”
Paul George over ME!?!?!?!?!?!
Jimmy so funny I say this anytime I see Tobias do anything
Same. Out loud every time an announcer says him name.
Seriously if Sixers kept Jimmy and traded Simmons at his peak value after that playoff… definitely realistic for them to win a championship and history would look at Jimmy and Embiid completely differently
Especially bc the east was up for grabs and it was literally who was healthy at the right time. And bc Miami made the finals with just Jimmy.
Pretty sure the Kings offered Hali for Ben.
I remember hearing that rumor but who knows if it’s true
Jimmy woulda blown that team up either way let’s be honest.
I miss the jimmy b bot
me too
LMAO
VJ EDGECOMBE OVER ME??!!!?? (Uh yup)
Peak
that got a genuine chuckle
This year it’s all Detroit all the way
I got no problem with it, I’m sure the fans were giving him shit.
They booed him every time he touched the ball lol
Philly’s commentators were confused as to why fans were booing him too. Kate Scott, their play-by-play, stated the fans are wrongly remembering the Jimmy Butler saga.
IMO, if anything, the fans should be booing their front office.
I think they remember 0 points game 6. Toby got so much shit for the sixers/knicks series
I remember anytime he started the game 0 for 1 from 3 he refused to shoot another so he could protect his percentages. Same with if he went 2⁄2 from deep he’d stop there
The Sixers signed him expecting that he’d become a volume 3 point shooter based of his percentages and he never did. Ultimately, that’s on the FO since he was never that player at any point during his career.
That being said, he never really hustled and completely disappeared (like 0 points in an elimination game disappeared) in the biggest moments.
Harris is a good player. He’s just never been anywhere close to max level player which the Sixers had him on.
But it was very clear he wasn’t a max player before the FO gave him 180 million dollars. And Jimmy was amazing for the entirety of that period, which they were scared to have him under contract for
That’s exactly what I said in my second sentence and last sentence.
6 years in philly, made a gazillion dollars, took 0 charges. My least favorite Philadelphia athlete ever, at least the Ben Simmons stuff was funny
That’s honestly interesting because he’ll go down as probably a top 10 favorite role player on the Pistons in my lifetime, but I guess that just comes with expectations.
Every time he’s come to Detroit, the team has excelled after being terrible for years.
His positive influence on that locker room definitely deserves some credit for helping their turnaround from the bottom of the league to the top of the East. He’s never been a superstar player, but he parlayed two very good years as a Clipper into good money. Good for him. I hope Detroit continues to do well with him, as he seems like a quality person. Side not here: he stopped for a photo after a workout in San Diego in the summer time with my son and stepson, and he definitely didn’t have to do that. I’m rooting for the Pistons to make the finals, as I just don’t like a lot of the other East contenders (from an entertainment and basketball point of view).
Duren or Ausar just said a few days ago that Tobias and Tim Hardaway Jr. created the culture last year, that when they went into practice how they should practice, how to be winners, etc. Then we all of sudden got good, so in terms of quality vets he’s gotta be a top in the league.
Yeah, and I’ve heard stories how he takes his sleep, nutrition and training all very seriously. Showing the younger guys how to properly do all those little things like that has definitely contributed to Detroit’s phenomenal year. Toby is always someone that I’d want on my team, even if it’s just good minutes off the bench, because he is an extremely valuable locker room presence (and that shouldn’t be undervalued, especially on a younger team).
Simmons was a 3x All-Star. Yeah it went to shit fast, but doesn’t take away that he was really good.
Because he is a coward in the playoffs.
Your entire team is defined by playoff cowardice
Yeah well…..I got nothing.
Besides Maxey.
Love Maxey and VJ man
That’s why he was such a good fit on the Sixers!
Coward on the sixers. He was scrapping for the pistons. Idk what the difference is, but he hated playing for Philly. Or at least saw no reason to try despite being paid big money.
Probably saw how Embiid and Doc threw Simmons under the bus after the playoff series loss. Everyone wants to rip on Simmons for it but Embiid played like dookie and Doc is notorious for shitting the bed in the postseason.
On a torn meniscus. And was a +51 total in the series.
Crumbl cookie > Tobias harris
It wasn’t just that series. Basically every year he would shrink in the playoffs, then shrink even more when it was close out games.
Just about every playoff series
Did Tobi ever have a good playoff series with us?
I loved the guy saying pretty early: “Maybe stop booing him, it’s not helping.”
That’s a great crew. They had me laughing for a good part of the game. 🤣
I think we accept that giving him that contract was the wrong call, dude could have scored more than literally 0 points when it mattered tho lol
Didn’t take one charge in 5.5 years here, came up small in every big moment and never took ownership of his bad games, never became the 3 and D glue guy we needed, just kept taking his mediocre mid-range jumpers, whined about not making the all-star game when he absolutely did not deserve to be there.
We didn’t like him for more than just the contract.
Culture issue in the org tbh
HE’S DIFFERENT NOW
6 weeks into the relationship
You do realize Tobias has spent almost as much time in Detroit as he spent in Philly? He’s currently in his 5th season with Detroit. We know our boy
2nd stint and 5th season with the team. There’s a reason we brought him back
Never once had an issue with any of these things in Detroit. Sounds like your coaching staff was misusing him.
what the hell does the coaching staff have to do with taking a charge. do you think they were telling him not to?
The entire pistons sub wanted him gone last deadline, and they will again after the playoffs. This year changed nothing. Someone had to be 1 seed with tatum and hali hurt
Literally nobody wanted him gone last deadline unless they were trying to trade for a star. And they only “wanted him gone” because he was the only contract that could match anything
Exactly. If he would’ve made $20M per year he would’ve been beloved for his production based on that. But Tobias as a max player didn’t come close to being worth that.
Of course he should have taken it, but along with taking it he has to know a fanbase is going to hold him to a certain level of expectation.
He’s mad at the fanbase, but the fanbase has every right to be mad (in this instance).
George was putting the Sixers fans on Blaha Blast last night
I bet he was roasting them. I forgot to mention Philly’s PBP gave a shoutout to Blaha towards the end of the game. That was a cool moment.
So many times he said something along the lines of “take THAT, Sixers fans” or “that shut them up.” He also dissed the media for favoring the Lakers, Cavs, Celtics etc despite our dominance this year
Rarely showed up in the playoffs and was just kinda there. Ben Simmons being on his team saved him from a lot of criticism.
probably because he was getting paid max for 15 ppg
That’s on the front office. Tobias has been consistently this his entire career.
The fans remember him never taking a charge in 5 years and getting paid a max.
He was easily the most hated player his last few years here. I defended him for years (the contract was on management, not him), but his last year even I couldn’t defend. I could live with that bad offense but he started showing zero effort.
I don’t blame him for giving it to us. Philly was pretty terrible to him for most of his time here.
He was ass his whole time here and he deserved every boo he got and then some.
This is my take on it. Defended him until he entirely gave up. He’s just not 2nd or 3rd option on a legit team. He was a stand up guy in the locker room but he looked physically sick when ever we needed him in a big moment. 5.5 years and no charges taken is really hard to believe.
Most gracious Philadelphia fanbase.
Of course, we should be thankful for the guy on a max contract being unable to take a single charge in 5 years and being completely unable to be a reliable 3rd option.
Thank you so much, Mr. Harris, we are very thankful for your contributions. I only wish we paid you some more millions for the inconveniences that these boos might cause you.
As a Sixers fan, we really are the worst. We scapegoat the hell out of guys like Tobias, yet defend every move the front office makes. Dudes are still out here defending the McCain trade
Maybe they were saying To-booo-ias
They were booing him every time he touched the ball, you’d think he was a superstar that forced his way out via trade
Him not putting in any effort despite his contract is much worse than forcing his way out lol
Was it him not putting forth effort or were his coaches just Brett Brown and Doc Rivers because his effort has been zero issue in Detroit
Horford also magically returned to form when he left Philly. They really had a way of getting the least out of their role players for a stretch there.
they weren’t role players until they got 9 digit bags from philly lol
I’m sorry did Tobias return to form? A quick look at his stats suggests a continued decline
😂😂 literally. His dad called him an unguardable assassin scorer
Tobias wasn’t supposed to be a role player. He was the highest paid player on the team…
Ah yeah I’m sure Tobias took the money on the pretense he was supposed to be the star of the team and not because Philly was dumb enough to offer that kind of bag to a role player
Neither was supposed to be a role player, kind of the issue
B2b playoffs in must win games at home he went 1⁄9 for 2 points in 70 minutes. He’s a fine 5th option or whatever he is for you guys but anytime you want him to be about 5% better he’s suddenly the worst player in the league.
I don’t think his effort is a question like the previous guy said but he had so many chances to make people forget about his contract and he did the opposite.
I still remember that playoff series vs y’all a few years ago… I just kept thanking the universe the ball always found Tobias for momentum swinging possessions, he always fucked them up lol
yeah I think he had 1 good game that series the rest of the time he was playing scared. There was a ton of open 3 opportunities he turned into dribbling to a terrible mid range shot if I’m remembering right.
That’s exactly right! He was either clanking a corner three or dribbling into a middy to clank that. It was awesome.
That was his signature play
He put up 0/4/3 on 2 FGA in his last game for Philly, a 3 point loss to the Knicks that bounced the sixers out of the playoffs. And that was with Nick Nurse coaching him
zero charges in 5.5 years. zero.
There’s having a shit coach and there’s being a pumpkin. He was even worse under Nurse. You’ve heard plenty about his final game as Sixer, the 0/4/2 in a 4 point lose to the Knicks. But I also recall plenty of zero points at the half games from him while Embiid was out.
Speaking of Embiid, do you know Tobias was making more money than Embiid was for most of the time he was in Philadelphia?
It’s the same issue this city had 20 years ago and they still can’t seem to get over it. Igudola was our number 1 at one time and had no right to be and got heat like he wasn’t good enough to be but he never asked for that. He was always an exceptional supplenental piece forced into the role by a management who built a bad team. Same with Tobi. People were mad he wasnt scoring 30⁄10 every night but was being paid at that level.
I wonder how many of those fans are overpaid at their job for their responsibilities and how many give back the extra funding lol
This is nonsense. Iguodala yes, was at a time a number one option in Philly. Tobias never was.
And I don’t think people expected 30⁄10 out of Tobias. They just expected more production than he provided. He averaged just under 21ppg on the Clippers before being traded to Philly. And in the regular season he provided close to that for the Sixers but outside of 2020-21 he was mostly about a 15ppg guy for them in the playoffs. Fans were not asking for 30⁄10, they just wanted closer to 20ppg for what he was paid.
Sixers really just screwed up paying Tobias and not doing everything they could to keep Butler. But your explanation is bogus.
Exactly this, I think its embarrassing when 6ers/NYK/Cs fans get into their feelings over this shit, half of our fandom is exactly about it.
Pistons have been through hell and back and fought their way to the one seed. They get all the bragging rights they want as far as I’m concerned.
Sixers is like that cartoon villain who always loses at the end of the episode. Just when they get close to winning, something stupid happens and they still lose.
Team Rocket?
we wish we were that cool
No for real… Me and my homies been rewatching the first several Pokemon movies and they actually had a lot of fun/good lines I forgot about!
Allen Iverson played for you , you were that cool at some point
If they were blasting off to Cancun mid episode
Rockets are their own joke.
Currently rn on their way to another 1st round exit
That’s what happens when you don’t have a Point Guard.
that name is taken
More like Gargamel
And they would have gotten away with it too, if it weren’t for them meddling knees and that stupid Leprechaun
Think kids might be more apt with their owners sexual preferences.
Do they get close though? They made the finals and lost 4-1 25 years ago with Iverson, before that the last time they made the conference finals was in 1985, which is more than 40 years ago. Even Seattle is more recent and its gonna be 20 years since they had a team
Their recent history peak is getting smacked by Tatum in Game 7 of the second round.
Disagree, the quad bounce by Kawhi is their peak and the closest they’ve been in recent history imo
lol he was like 1-20 until the third quarter but it didn’t matter because that roster was stacked.
Then he hit most of his shots in the 4th and score 15 I think
The Wily Coyote of the NBA.
We’re villains for booing? The guy got 180 million fucking dollars!
The issue was never with Tobias Harris it was with Tobias Harris at $39M
Not his fault they paid him that much.
His fault for playing ass
“I cannot play up to that contract offer. Please give me less money.”
Na it was both. His last playoffs he couldn’t even perform as a role player or 5th option. 0 points weak rebounding and defense in the elimination game
If he played like Oubre there would be a lot less hate for him
why boo him for that now though? he didn’t write the contract
He didn’t write the contract but money comes with expectations and he did put up some absolute stinkers
0 points when we needed him to do literally anything comes to mind lol
It’s this. He never even played to the level of a role player.
He cost too much, but he never even played to his floor. He somehow found levels under it.
2016 Harrison Barnes in the finals
His final playoff performances were absolutely woeful. The amount of pump faked open 3s just to recycle possession…
Sometimes it was also Tobias Harris.
So he forced them to sign that contract?
So many people in the media (and this sub) talked shit about the pistons all season and how they weren’t a serious contender and how once Cade went down it was over for them and they’ve gone ahead and ripped off a bunch of wins and claimed the number one seed. Awesome season for them
They still are. Saying it’s “Boston’s conference to lose” and that it’s a foregone conclusion the offense will be terrible in the playoffs
A series with Boston could be so fun. If that was the conference finals it would rip
I tweaked a little when I saw Nick Wright had the Pistons Championship chances lower than the Timberwolves and he had the Celtics like 5 times higher chances this was on like Friday… lol
Nick wright is a clown
Nick Wrong
When was the last time a team went from absolute trash to winning a championship? Most teams that win have been making deep playoff runs and been good in the regular season for a few years. OKC lost in 2024 to the western champs, the Celtics had been a consistent playoff team and lost a finals 2 years earlier in 2022, the nuggets and bucks made multiple semi finals and a conference finals, the warriors were a dynasty before winning in 2022, etc. The pistons were the 6th seed last year and lost to the Knicks, and had been bad for years before that. Not crazy to think the very experienced Celtics and Twolves have better chances this year
Considering how much Cade did while leading them, it’s phenomenal how well they’ve done since his injury. 8-2 with the only 2 losses being OT games - 1 vs OKC where they started their bench plus Ausar. They will certainly handle the Knicks if they meet in the playoffs.
I know. As a Cavs fan I am extremely worried how well the Pistons have done without Cade. Not good.
He didn’t force the Sixers to trade for him and overpay him, on the other end he didn’t perform well enough for a starter in multiple key games for them as a shooter/scorer (funnily enough he did way better then I expected defensively tho), it’s fine that the Sixers fans boo him and don’t like him, it’s fine for him to be mad that he’s beeing booed because I don’t think at any point his failures were due to him not trying
He had 0 points on 0-2 shooting in 29 minutes in a playoff game lol
Also, We will never forget
if I remember right his last game as a sixer he had one fucking point
never mind, it was that zero point game you mentioned 🤣
I think it’s so funny that this is the third description of this game I’ve read in here and every time the stats change just a little bit.
In his last game as a Sixer, Harris scored zero points, committed five fouls and four turnovers and kicked a pregnant woman in the stomach.
And that’s not all. My buddy says in Harris’s last game as a Sixer he scored 0 points, dunked twice on his own net and spoiled the ending of Harry Potter.
I’ll always remember 😏
The fact Elton Brand is still employed by that franchise in light of how much he bungled the ‘19 off-season shows the 76ers aren’t a serious franchise, even if his power has been significantly muted with Morey around.
He’s not the one making decisions anymore he’s pretty much just the front office guy that deals personally with the players. From all accounts he has a close relationship with many of them including Embiid and that’s why he was kept on.
He has this propensity to just disappear for stretches of the game.
It’s just lack of consistent intensity and focus. Maybe that goes away when he feels more motivated but it would drive me nuts that he would play like a dawg for 2 minutes and a kitten for 6 minutes.
But whatever I never had an issue with him like as a person or whatever and hope he’s happy wherever he plays as long as he isn’t beating us.
I don’t think it’s motivation, I think he’s just not that good, like he can create a shot in the post vs a mismatch, other then that his offensive game is just okay
he’s a veteran version of Rui on the lakers
rui shooting 43% from 3 this year tho
If you put him against an above average forward he disappears. Thr playoffs are filled with them outside of the first round.
He’s a spot up shooter on limited volume who can guard strong guys that’s it, I’m not expecting anything else for him and he has been (way) above my expectations since he came back
The problem is that he isn’t a great spot up shooter and he doesn’t look to get open when his teammates are double teamed. He doesn’t cut to the basket, take charges, or play with any intensity.
He drew exactly zero charges his entire Sixers’ career
The entire Pistons team doesn’t draw charges. You could never accuse them of playing with low effort. Even when they’ve got position against a driving opponent they’d rather get their hands up, take the contact, and play for the miss and the no-call than try and draw a charge. Charges have no correlation with motivation. They’re a tool to use when a player has a severe size and athletic disadvantage against the driving player and can’t hope to attempt a decent contest, which is never going to be the case for a 6’8” 230 lb power forward.
Philly just wanted you to not score 0 points in a playoff game man.
Exactly people talk about the contract but that game was unacceptable for a vet min player
Tobias Harris is a true Hornets play-off believer.
It’s funny cause we drafted him.
We all are, friend, we all are
Kinda hilarious how so many former Sixers hate the team
Management is awful and fans are drunk assholes not a surprise
To be fair, us Sixers fans hate the team too, and I’m pretty sure a chunk of the current roster don’t like Morey either.
As a Celtics fan, I grew to love Tobias Harris because he was basically a 6th man on the floor for the Celtics in the playoffs. The ultimate was Harris, Embiid, Harden and Doc Rivers on the same team a few years ago, an all-time playoffs meltdown squad.
The only thing more funny than him talking shit to Philly would be him actually having a monster performance in a playoff series against Philly, after all these years of disappearing.
the harden that won games by himself? that harden?
ya won 2 games and completely disappeared for 4 and lost them
I mean he has done multiple successful robbery in Philadelphia Good for him
Seeing tobi apologists on this post is bizarre like he’s proven philly wrong since then when all that he’s done since then is just be a professional vet.
I ain’t mad at it, but I understand Philly fans feeling how they do about him.
Someone pull up Tobias Harris stats in elimination games for the 6ers lmao
What a rude thing to say to such a warm and friendly fanbase.
He has every right to talk shit but also I don’t think Detroit is going to be any kinder if he puts up an egg in a crucial playoff game either
I don’t why he’s mad, they gave him insane ammount of money, and he played average, at best. He should be thankfull tbh. But it’s hard to expect from NBA players to be self aware.
However, fans can be dicks most of the time, so he has the right to fight back, who knows what they said to him.
He is probably thankful to the organization. But when the fans are booing you everytime you touch the ball, you might feel some kind of way, as well
They were booing him while he played there as well. I definitely see why he’s talking his shit lol
Fans boo him every time he touches the ball, and you “don’t why he’s mad”?
Tell those bitch ass fans what’s up
Tobias Harris to Detroit: “Get ready for the fucking playoffs”
Tobias Harris: 30.2 MIN, 8.3 PTS, 2.7 REB, 1.8 AST, .6 STL, 0 BLK, +/- -13
[removed]
Embiid was playing on a single knee and one eye in the Knick series and gave more effort than a healthy Tobias shooting 2 times in a elimination game.
Im happy for Tobias getting good PR, but this perspective of him being decent in his tenure in Philly is revisionist.
Embiid can have multiple surgeries, battling sickness and dealing with freak accidents and still want to play at a high level and give effort. Tobias never dealt with long lasting injuries, no freak accidents and barely had the stress relating to Harden, Maxey and Embiid. Shit even George has more pressure to perform. Tobias couldn’t perform consistently with no stakes or stakes and getting paid well.
Tobias couldn’t hit open shots, barely rebounded, couldn’t pass, questionable work ethic. He will show his colors in the playoffs as he usually does.
Who wakes up and decides you know what I’m gonna Stan Tobias Harris
Probably a fan of a team he plays for? Crazy thought right, a fan liking the players on his team?
Real question is - Who wakes up and decides you know what I’m gonna stan the 76ers
Pistons fans talking shit, what a time
Fans of simulated contact probably
What are those numbers from? Not while he was on the Pistons the last 2 years. Wtf?
Cole world - ‘The Fall-off’
Those Detroit jerseys are sweet
I was there. He was booed every time he touched the ball 🤣
Bro fucked us over with no effort and an insane salary for years then has the balls to act like we did him wrong lol
If only the Sixers could get winning players like Tobias Harris, or Al Horford, or Jrue Holiday, or Andre Iguadola…
When has tobi ever “won” anything?
Tobias as a winning player lol look at playoff performances
Tobias Harris the winning player? LOL
I fucking love him lol yea unc
Talk your shit Tobias. Jimmy Buckets can’t hurt you anymore.
Him saying this after fucking SELLING in the playoffs year after year is rich
Zero charges taken in 5.5 years in Philadelphia, literally zero
I could have sworn Tobias was much older, late 30’s, felt like he’s been around forever but he’s only 33.
Love to see it.
Ah notorious playoff superstar Tobias Harris talking shit is crazy
Are we sure that’s what he said? I just always doubt Internet lip readers.
Pretty sure it’s not what he said. There’s like 5 more syllables
Noted NBA winner…Tobias Harris.
The fuck are those jerseys?
He robbed Philly
