If the ball is leaving his hand (shooting, passing), I think Jokic has the best touch of any player I’ve ever seen. If the ball is coming back to his hand (handle) then that’s a different conversation.

Like he’d hit a reverse layup in traffic and the ball is out of his hands before defenders can even register what is happening, it’s almost like slight of hand
Tactile dexterity. They have incredible awareness of how and where an object is balanced in their hands, and are able to use that intuition to flip shots up with a ton of precision. Combine that with a ton of motor control, and you can create very quick shots without a lot of movement.
This should be in every Jokic meat glazing post. We need defined categories for all of this well earned glaze.

I don’t think it would be as feasible for other players as it would be for Jokic. The reason why it’s Jokic’s signature shot is because of a combination of low (and, thus, replicable) jump height and a high release point and arc, making for a shot that’s nearly unguardable but very consistent. It also has the unique quality of starting with the shooting shoulder turned away from the basket, so the ball is rarely stripped on the way up to the set point.
The equivalent for other players is a turnaround jump shot, but when you have to jump to add height and power to your shot as well as rotate in the air to align your shooting side with the basket, that will add variance to your shot no matter what.

And he will just… wait to release it. Like this shot and a couple others he dropped over Wemby today. He’s so damn strong he can be falling backwards but still elevate and control his shooting motion and just pause it then resume without any hesitation.
One of the things that a lot of bigs don’t learn is taking their time with their shot. They’re so tall that they have all the time in the world. And yet you have so many of them rush into it.

Jokic’s spinning over his left shoulder and bringing the ball up from the right side of his body caused Wemby to anticipate the shot to be closer to the baseline and contest with his left hand.
Jokic then fading straight back and using the sombor shuffle to turn and release the shot closer to the middle of his body meant Wemby had to reach across with his left hand, giving Jokic a sliver of space. Not to mention the rainbow-esque angle Jokic shoots at too.

There was a play I think early in the 4th where Jonas was able to use his weight against Wemby to get deep into the paint. He put his shoulder into his chest and knocked him off balance, but Wemby still got the block without jumping. It was crazy to watch.
Idk about every player. Part of the reason is that for as big and long as Wemby is, Jokic is also 7 fucking feet tall so it becomes nearly impossible to touch the ball. If this was a 6’5 guard it might’ve been blocked lol
