Jayson Tatum sits the 4th quarter. Finishes the night with 23/11/9 with 3 steals, just 2 turnovers, and 50/50/75 shooting splits.
One assist away from back to back triple doubles. Add it to the list of Tatum near miss triple doubles.

Sometimes when he has 9 assists entire team can’t hit water out of the ocean
If there was a stat that tracked near triple doubles (off by 1-2 assists specifically ) Tatum would be up there.
I think we call that the Sombor double because of how many times Jokic finishes one rebound or assist shy
I literally just googled that and I chuckled . That’s hilarious
Ethical hooper.
Did he have many potentials in the 3rd quarter? Didn’t watch the game.
Yes. Hauser and Pritchard both missed threes and Jaylen passed up an open corner three that could have given Tatum 10 assists.
JB was wide open and didn’t take the shot (especially this season that he has crazy volume and takes too many shots?) Well…idk what to say about this one ngl.
He gets 9 assists and then all of our shooters start playing with blind folds on
Honestly getting him to 9 assists as quick as possible might be a genuine defensive strategy.
Ball denial everyone else so he has to bring the ball up, and then double / triple / quadruple him once he drives. It won’t matter, no one is hitting that open shot.
+playing great defense this man needs to be studied!
Honestly thought his defense would take the greatest hit with the Achilles tear(that and rim pressure), but dude still looks very good
his lift obviously isn’t 100% there yet but his lateral motion looks basically normal, it’s nuts
Achilles used to be a career death sentence, the medical advancements last 5-10 years have been crazy
IMO the lift is usually more of a mental thing. Once he trusts his body not to explode again, you’ll see that same lift.
First couple games he was playing like half a step too far off, and that’s way too much space for JT to give up since his game is the tight contest.
Definitely been tightening it up over the last week.
Two possessions in a row where he just straight up grabbed a pass out of the year for a steal
Is Tatum the greatest player of all time? Many people are saying this.
Many very smart people, good people are saying this
We’ve never seen anything like this before maybe
No its Payton Pritchard
this is what i’ve been saying caitlyn clark should have felt complimented to be compared to such a basketball specimen
He is way better at basketball than she is
Someone with Pritchards skill set in the WNBA would be unstoppable
If he were the greatest he would’ve hit that shot to give Tatum a triple double smh
Why would he give Tatum the assist when he could just get buckets on his own?
He’s only a teenager!
No one cause Baylor Scheierman man exists
THANK YOU FOR YOUR ATTENTION TO THIS COMMENT!
Brown kinda boned him by playing hero ball when he was at 9 assists
Not shooting that corner three after Tatum’s rocket pass drove me crazy
They were both chasing stats near the end. Brown obviously wanted that 30pts and Tatum passed out of an open 3 at the end to try get that last assist. Wasn’t pretty, but hopefully it won’t happen often.
I mean it was a blow out lol
And Pritchard is kinda good at buzzer beaters. It was a smart pass really
Why is he nearing triple double since his return? Maybe this will unlock new Tatum next season
He was heading in this direction before the injury. He picked up right where he left off. Hes beginning to dictate the game now.
There was a decent chunk of last season that he averaged 7 assists
I’ll never forgive Hauser and Pritchard for ruining Tatum’s first ever back to back triple doubles less than a month after returning from a torn Achilles. I’ll be thinking about it on my death bed.
JB too. He ball hogged big time at the end of the 3rd.
Did they miss (a lot of) open shots in the 3rd with his passes?
uh ohhhhhhhhhhh
Lmao he threw a grenade to PP to try for the last ast with 2 sec left
It’s PP tbf. The buzzer beater king. Must’ve thought it was an easy assist haha
Plus it in-n-outed like that would’ve been a legendary clip for both of them if it hit
Sundays gonna be a long day
This dude has to be averaging a career high rebounds, right? Every stat line I see of him includes 10+ boards lol.
Edit: Yup, career high 9.8 per game on basketball reference. Not including this game so probably 9.9 lol.
Couldn’t even get a triple double. Smh my head he really lost a step.
Celtics really bouta win the east again aren’t they
Tatum for MVP /s
Just let him get his triple double then let him off bruh 😭
he’s so good already I can’t believe it lmao
So glad to see he’s still him after that injury.
Cool and a cucumber
At this point not winning the East would Kind of feel like a failure, which is kind of crazy.
see Lakers? why couldnt you do that with your star even after it was clear he was injured? well, you got your punishment another one and out in the playoffs
Good bench call. Teaches him to not do that again and not jeopardize his health going into playoffs

What happened? I couldn’t watch the game. As far as I can tell from the comments, he didn’t help JT get the triple?
You’re getting downvoted but this is 100% true. I’ve seen it before and it happened tonight.
