[Highlight] Dylan Harper makes John Collins stumble and explodes to the rim
This is their 5-6th option
Honestly him Castle and Fox are gonna wear down our defenders over a playoff series. Its just too much to guard and then having to respect Wemby too. Just need to hope that Shai can do the same to them
So much hinges on which team shoots better from 3
Both have their issues, but the Spurs generate the most open corner threes in NBA history and OKC surrenders corner threes more often than average. It’s a major advantage in our favor
Playing that hard of defence the way they do kills your legs. We all saw it in the playoffs last season they couldn’t shoot for shit and Shai carried their offence through those series.
They really need Chet to go up a level in aggressiveness. He’s their X factor, even if he doesn’t make shots he can exploit our rebounding issues against big lineups.
He can’t just be a paper bag in the wind kind of player and hope to win.
A Dort - Fox matchup in a 7 game series would be fire.
Oh my god dort from the top rope where did he come from??? He’s going straight for their knees!
Dort is totally using a steel chair by game 7.
Shai is obviously the best of this group, but he’s one downhill guard and the Spurs have three that can stagger minutes all series
This is their ticket to winning it all. I still think the youth shrinks under the bright lights but out of all the young upstart teams ive seen, this spurs squad probably has the best chance to actually pull it off
You could argue 7th honestly. Wemby, Fox, Castle, Vassell, Champagnie, Johnson, and then Harper. Harper and Champagnie are a toss-up, but I went with Champ because he’s starting.
Champagnie doesnt create his own shots on the level of anyone else in the top 7 scorers. Hes an outlet.
Even Vassell creates his own midrange looks.
Right. WTF spurs are so talented. ðŸ˜
This dude is too good to come off the bench. I’m not sure how to solve it because I wouldn’t want to trade him, Castle, or Fox if I were the Spurs, but it’s a good problem to have I guess.
Someone said spurs have rich man problems
I’m a Celtics fan so I don’t wanna be a pot calling a kettle black lmao
If you’re in Boston you’re probably calling the kettle something else
Nobody’s mind went there but yours, dumbass.
Leave it to r/nba to downvote the guy having a normal conversation and upvote the jackass making baseless accusations of racism. Great job yall.
It’s just a joke dawg
Brother no one actually thinks you are racist calm down. I’m sure you are a nice guy.
I mean those guys you mentioned are all top 5 picks so it’s a bit different than our crew of misfits
Meh idk your team is comprised of the Jays, PP, and a bunch of guys people counted out. Imagine if yall got a top 4 pick three years in a row
You literally just named 2 top 3 picks in a row
From 10 years ago lol
I’m defending you here why are you arguing w me ðŸ˜ðŸ˜
We have the best coach in the league and nearly went 40-20 without Tatum, I think it’s something to write home about
I don’t know why people keep saying this. Its very obvious the Spurs are using Fox to win now while they let Harper and Castle slowly develop and then they’ll trade Fox in 2 years when Harper’s ready to get the keys
Harper is one of the best guard prospects this century and he’s having the rookie year to match but he’s still nowhere near ready to be the full time lead PG on a contender like Fox is
Not sure I agree. Dude is averaging 18/5/6 per 36 on fuckin 50% shooting as a rookie and plays great defense. Fox is a beast and very important to this Spurs team but I’m fairly confident Harper is easily a starter on most teams including contenders.
I agree he could start on a team and be fine in the regular season but do you really want him as your lead guard in a playoff series against OKC for example? This is gonna be better for his development in the long run
In 2ish years when Fox’ contract is up it’ll be time to hand over the keys
He has another four years starting next year
Might not be for the spurs lol Harper right now would likely be a top roty contender on the wizards but he’s bought into a role for the spurs.
I say by this summer lol
We will almost certainly move on from Fox. Our Defensive Rating when Castle, Harper, and Wemby share the floor is like 93 points per100
Might be hard to depending on how he fairs health and stats wise while making 60 million a year in a punishing CBA landscape.
Fast twitch guards are one injury away from being shells of their former selves
Fox’s contract will expire just as Harper’s rookie extension will kick in. Up to our front office on how to handle Fox’s situation then.
Why do people keep saying this? It’s clearly working. Even last night we saw this. They all combined for 61 points and it was pretty even as well. It’s clear Harper is the future PG of this team. He’s just gotta let Fox run the show for a little bit until he’s ready.
He’s slow-fast. Just smooth. Castle is good but I can’t wait for Dylan to have his own team. There’s no doubt he’d be in ROTY conversations if he was on a bad team.
Spurs can win one while he’s on that rookie contract.
Harper will retire a Spur. Their front office will find Fox a nice home 2-3 seasons from now.
People are afraid of a good team getting high draft picks with potential tanking changes
My brother, OKC and SA got this way with the draft (mostly). Good teams are already doing better in the draft.
That s some nasty
Severely underrated athlete coming in. He’s ridiculously fast with the ball, strong as a bull, and can finish through contact with ease
Will go down as the best player in his draft
I love Harper but isn’t that a BLATANT carry as he goes around the screen??
Yep. It’s unfortunately part of the NBA now. Officials just don’t call it.
Jesus Christ, kid – you’re only a rookie. Don’t do that shit.
Also – keep doing that shit…
It’s a young man’s game
Is it crazy to think he’ll eventually be the best player on the team?
Yes because Wemby is on the team
Yes. He won’t surpass Wemby but he can be 2⁄3
