[Highlight] Luka’s reaction after hurting his hamstring
Vando noticing Luka wants to hide his face and then picking up his pace to get between him and the camera are some intangibles
Vando’s EQ is off the charts, too bad he can’t shoot for shit…
Vando really found his spot as the Luka handler
The Vandolorian
Vando Calrizzian
Is Luka his Grogu
Lmao I love Reddit
The Disciple to Luka’s Hollywood Hogan.
He’s an absolute gem. Reminds a bit of Jared Dudley in his intangible value for his team. It’s not playing style of course - it’s moments like this. Top tier locker room guy.
That’d be one thing but he can’t finish layups either. I loved him as a prospect too, was sad when we traded him
We need to kidnap Vando this summer and lock him in a fucking gym with Dirk and Larry Bird for 3 months. Only food, water and jump shots every day. He’s so good at everything other than scoring 😭
His equipment is good I agree
99 bench iq 99 team chemistry
chat is 99 iq good?
Only for the Thunder flairs
Oooh self-burn! Those are rare!
99 IS double 92, I’d say its good
The only common ground between Lakers and Wolves fans is appreciating Vando for everything except his offense.
He’s legit 2⁄2 with being a solid ass teammate. A few weeks ago he got in between JJ and Luka while Luka was getting benched.
Then tonight does this. I guarantee he’s the only one in his friend group to have some type of spatial awareness lol
And u can see AR talking shit to the fan celebrating Luka being injured.
The team cares about each other but yeah this is fucked.
Lakers are toast w/o Luka.
OKC is known for trash fans.
Vando had Lukas back all year, he’s a good dude
Haha nice catch
It doesn’t take a rocket surgeon to know that sports media is generally parasitic. The ones that try to dig and burrow into players for anything and everything because the fans supposedly want it need to disappear. Nobody asked for it, and it doesn’t improve the viewing.
Awesome team mate
Bro HES SO EMOTIONALLY INTELLIGENT
I want a highlight real of Vando being a generational EQ player
Vando has these types of moments. I guess he’s one good locker room guy.
Dam. He needs to be a doctor
He tweaked it earlier in the game and kinda grabbed at it. He should’ve stopped playing
was so confused why they kept him in after he kept grabbing at it, and why they started him in the second half
He has always played through small tweaks like that. It’s surprising this hasn’t happened more.
It was already a 30 point blowout. What is the point?
That’s crazy
He doesn’t just come out of a game, he’s borderline LBJ, he tells the coaches when he’s ready to come out.
Is this a reference to LBJ deciding not to run for reelection in 1968?
the MVP
Yeah but this is the same hamstring that caused him to miss time last year and the year before that. You’d think the Lakers staff would be on top of that and sit him out immediately. Like that’s the season there. Med staff need to recognize quick and make the correct call.
Reaves was hobbling around like me when I get out of bed to quickly.. from the 1st quarter as well
There’s not an adult in that organization
What’s LeBron to you? A super senior?
He’s like a father to some of the Laker players
Yeah I’ve always thought that about him and
Dalton
He just watch golf and play hoops 🤷♂️
“I came here to hoop, drink red wine, watch golf and absolutely hate Memphis and I’m all outta my best Merlot”-LeBron
Running Luka/AR into the ground for weeks this outcome was predictable. You can win games running guys 37+ mins for a month straight, but you’re also ramming them into the ground.
We already saw this same bull shit to end the last season JJ shortened the rotation, rode DFS, Luka, AR, and they were cooked by the playoffs. Even Rui and LeBron looked were gassed in the playoffs. You have to manage that risk better.
It’s also that some injuries shouldn’t be played through. Back stiffness or knee contusions are one thing to grit through. Tweaks in knees, hamstrings, calves, on the other hand, are all liable to turn into serious injuries.
You would know better than most seeing him grit through the Finals injured, whatever else people say about Luka he’s tough, he also complained when Dallas tanked to miss the play in because he wanted to play regardless
Wasn’t it from the Cavs game? Looked like he was wearing something for it anyway. Real shame if he’s out 2-6 weeks now
It was pretty clear this game was not going to be winnable, sit and figure it out if injury is at all on the table
In Dallas, he always tried to play through his injuries.
If only he consulted the professionals on reddit first.
He looks genuinely devastated
Gottta be hard coming back from injury and then getting injured again. That’s probably the most of it, it’s the fucking mental aspect of injury that’s tough. Working for months to get back on the court, being in pain and then reaggravating it. Can’t imagine how that feels, must be so shitty
Hamstring injuries also fucking suck
So tricky bc you never really know when they’re healed. From my own experience I’d always end up coming back to playing too early even tho it felt great and it’d just get injured again. Would take at least a month to feel right.
From what I rmr reading if you get a hammy pull even once you’re almost guaranteed a future injury at some point. Apparently it’s just the way they work.
Different sport but they plagued Adrien beltre for basically the entire time he was on the rangers
Raphinha is struggling with them too. Probably gonna cost Barcelona their season
Yup I played soccer and it was always a guessing game. You can then make the injury worse thinking you’re good
Yep, it derailed Harden’s career when he was in Brooklyn. Came back too early and tore it for real.
I blew my hamstring to smithereens in the dumbest way possible (slipped on an ice cube at the base of an escalator at the Phoenix airport) and ended up with a Grade 3 tear/strain and boy let me tell you how deeply unpleasant that was.
Ended up doing PT for about 3-4 months and it was closer to 5 months before I could start playing racquetball again. Turns out sports with lots of “ballistic movements” aren’t great for hamstring injuries!
Thankfully, it’s held up in the interim and I’m basically back to nearly 100% again. Though, I used to be able to “pop” my hip by stretching, and ever since the injury, I’ve lost the ability to do it on that side.
Hamstrings are a fucker too. Once those start recurring it’s just endless.
There are so many elements to what makes injuries mentally destructive. From the disappointment and anger of reaggravating it, to the confusion and unfairness of something out of your control happening in the first place. For me the most crushing aspect was realizing that after it happens you can basically never play without doubt, and then it’s adding a split second of calculating the risk before doing something your body used to be able to do.
So many people on here insisting it’s a fake injury. Thunder fans are something else
Bunch of idiots really. Considering their own player JDub missed majority of the season with the same injury and reaggravated it.
Thunder fans are definitely low IQ. Then again, what do you expect from Oklahoma?
And I’ve seen so many comments from OKC fans that he faked it because they were getting slaughtered and he wanted a way out. And you wonder why no one likes these people lol.
I don’t think he faked it. You can tell by his reaction right after it happened. Plus, say what you want about Luka, dude is tough as fuck.
Same. I might have thought he faked the limping in the first quarter, but he covered his face right when it happened in the second half. That’s as real as it gets
Probably going through a lot with the divorce and all.
Dangerously close to the playoffs if it’s a reasonably serious injury.
I did not realise Thibs was coaching the Lakers, Luka should never have been out there.
Luka and Austin have both played heavy minutes in the last month or so. And this is after Austin came back early and got reinjured earlier in the season. They don’t seem to be all that concerned about the minutes.
Because the team is top heavy. They don’t have enough depth, even if LeBron was five years younger
Yeah just like last game, Luka was supposed to rest in 4th but once he went to the bench the cavs went on a run and he had to get back in..
Exactly. And I lowkey don’t trust Pelinka on building a team with quality depth
They are going all in to get the 3rd seed and avoiding OKC till WCF finals. It’s a bold strategy, especially given their lack of depth that just might bite them in the ass (and perhaps did tonight).
if Lebron was 5 years younger this team would win the finals
If lebron was 5 years younger shit would be way different than what it is now
Pelinka disasterclass
And not taking up half the cap space at 40 years old
They don’t have no one else. Their bench is dog water
Didn’t JJ go a game or two last postseason without making any substitutions?
who was he gonna sub in? Bronny? Gabe Vincent?
The ghost of Gabe? 😂
Lol when they finally put in Bronny, Caso was picking his pockets 3 straight bring ups
Game 4 vs the wolves, no subs in the second half, starters played 45+ minutes each
Players droppin like flies this game
Doesn’t help that he clearly wasn’t feeling it tonight, he definitely tweaked the same hammy he’s been having problems with in the Cavs game, stupid decision to play him in the second half at 90-58. Hope he gets better, cuz fuck man he was doing so well.
I’ve had mild hamstring pulls that were super painful. That looked like a five alarm pull. Oooooh that’s gotta hurt. 3-8 weeks but he’ll be timid on it if he comes back too early.
Are you Luka?
I’m just his mom
It’s true. I’m his mom’s mom.
So what does that make us?
I don’t want to put a label on it
Luka’s mom is a celtic fan 🧐
But she was a Celtics fan before Luka even got drafted. She’s loyal and doesn’t jump bandwagons like all those other moms.
If he ends up out at 64 games played…
Edit: Forgot about injury allowance, but still https://www.reddit.com/r/nba/comments/1sb3f4y/if_luka_is_injured_for_the_season_he_will_not_be/
Had one going on three months ago that I still feel. Haven’t been able to run any full court since. Fuck ass hamstrings always sabotaging
Stretch, stretch and more stretching. Even if you do nothing else all day at least stretch. The older you get the more you stretch just to keep from breaking down for no reason much less some physical activity, lol. I ran full court for decades but only when the surf was flat. I’ll be 55 this year and I don’t even want to risk a basketball injury keeping me out of the water cuz Murphy’s Law says a pumping swell will magically materialize the next day.
Do Not fucking stretch a pulled hamstring if it hasnt healed yet properly
Yeah I’m sure he’s faking being upset over an injury to “save face” in a near meaningless regular season game, people are so dumb I swear
You actually hope he was just tapping out because that looked like best case scenario something that will limit him until next year. Crazy this happens when he looks significantly thinner
Yeah at this point I absolutely WISH he was just faking this shit…
Bro, if you want to see how dumb people can really be, go over to the Artemis II threads…. “This is AI!!” “It’s all fake!!” Just unbelievable levels of stupidity on display.
That fucking sucks man Reminds me of when CC tweaked her groin and she immediately knew it was fucked
Hate to see good players get hurt
Basketball is all he has to escape the things happening in his personal life at the moment, I’m sure he’s crushed to lose that too. Feel for him, hopefully he comes back soon
I guess its just overwatch like the rest of us
heyy donatello
So you’re Luka donovich?
Bruh lol
The NBA soap opera continues. Let’s do a close zoom on his tears while we discuss his dating life lmao
That really sucks. Never want to see players get hurt, but right before the playoffs is tragic. Hope he can come back soon.
Not how we (everyone) wanted to beat the Lakers.
People will clown him and then praise Wemby whenever he shows emotion whenever he loses or is angry on the court
Injuries suck
I would call myself a generational Luka hater and I would never clown him for this. People are dumb asf
Down almost 40 why is he even on the court, JJ is a joke
The same coach who played his starting 5 the entire 2nd half
Because Luka wanted to play? In the modern NBA coaches can’t do much when players want to play.
He knows
Exactly. That’s not the reaction of a guy that thinks it might be a week or two
Hamstrings are the most lowkey worst injury in sports. Because guys usually never tear them fully, it’s just a partial tear that keeps hurting FOREVER. This basically guarantees Luka’s hamstring is cooked for the entire playoffs. Lakers are done. Smh. Any bit of lateral quickness he had is shot now.
Everyone feigning for Lakers RD1
[deleted]
I don’t think it matters who the rockets play, result is going to be the same
Please take that 3 seed and give us the winners of Lakers Rockets in round 2
Calling the iso
Nico was right! AD would never have gotten injured like this
Some of y’all losers in here talking ‘bout he faked it… at least wait till Dallas to say that shit.
Really hoping for the best, i know hes like an insanely wealthy athlete and shit but at the end of the day hes human and i got the sense basketball was the only thing helping him this year
JJ coaching malpractice leaving him in. The game was over in the first and he had already tweaked it.
Something something fans pay for these tickets.
He’s probably thinking damn I popped my hammy carrying these fuckin shoemakers and plumbers into the post season
Bit tough on Reaves don’t you think?
Fuck this shitty planet, right before the playoffs.
Fuuuuuuuck.
Those astronauts left at the right time imo
I had a mild hamstring pull and I was out an entire month. They are brutal…and once you do come back you’re always thinking about pulling it again.
Tough. Hope he doesn’t miss time in the playoffs
Take my hamstring 🥺
Man this sucks, I’m already seeing thunder fans laughing off this injury too. It’s sad to see Luka like this
Ridiculous to laugh at this. Dudes trying to win MVP and make a deep playoff run, it’s totally understandable why he’d have an emotional response to an injury that could derail everything he’s done this season. I didn’t see it as funny it sad really, but humanizing. Any of us here would react similarly to him.
I’m not the one laughing at this. Bro it’s a lot of Thunder fans laughing it off because they blew out the Lakers out, I even heard some people in the stadium were cheering while Luka was limping his way toward the tunnel, Hamstring injuries fucking suck man
I was agreeing with you that it’s not something to laugh at.
Lakers 9⁄11
Nah this is the Lakers’ Vietnam
Feels like Tyrese Hali last nbaFinals game7 😢
Been a rough year for him. He definitely did not need this.
Vando with the high EQ
Hopefully he’s back, rested, and healthy for the playoffs. Hopefully this is a wakeup call as to how little nonsense like the MVP matters. If your postseason spot is secure, the only focus for the team should be entering it as healthy as possible.
Overwatch top 500 lobbies are about to feel this one
He about to have that Chris Paul kinda luck
What the hell is up with the injuries man
Vibes are in tatters
Nico eating good today
He’s going to another Texas team soon
Why was he in the game? Super untimely, really a bummer.
worst day to be a lakers fan tbh
End me.
NOOOO! Not like this! NOT LIKE THIS!!!
1 game short of the 65 game minimum too
Turn down for this, Lil Jon. Turn down for this.
He knows it’s pretty bad smh
2nd half yellin why the fuck Luka in
Somewhere Nico Harrison is telling someone he won the trade.
Everybody needs a friend like Vando
It’s Ayton time…
lol, keep,waiting…
Right before playoffs. He’s cursed.
What a shitty year. I love you Luka :(
there goes his MVP dreams
Have no clue why he was still in tbh he grabbed it earlier in the game too and they were down damn near 40 too
As an empath I can tell he’s somewhat upset here.
Next game he can check in during the last seconds of half time or the end and get 65 games.
Busted hammy 2 weeks?
IMO, it’s more likely to be 4-6 weeks. Tweaked it early in the game and then really hurt it in the 3rd. Can barely move. His reaction indicates he knows it isn’t minor…probably grade 2 strain
Why the fuck was he still playing?
“Shaiiiiiiiii!!!!!”
Copying harden’s career literally word for word wtf
Ain’t never seen Luka strain a hammy while he’s playing defense.
Love love love Vando.
Can’t have shit nowadays man
That fucking sucks. A regular season loss is as important as any other one (we beat OKC the same way last season only for Minny to give us belt to ass), but playoffs were looking good with every single star player available. Now it seems it’ll be the same story as the last few seasons.
Rest for a moment, King. You’ve worked so hard.
Play a bit of Overwatch while recovering, they released 5 new heroes. Calibrate back to Top 500 and be back just in time for the playoffs.
Nico knew this was gonna happen
The dreaded 4-6 weeks news is coming there lads, I’m afraid.
Take it from someone who has, unfortunately this season, become quite the Knower Of Hamstring Injuries.
Recovery time for mild strains is up to a month. This surely didn’t look like a mild one, more like a partial micro tear. Projected recovery for such cases is up to 2 months and it’s high risk of re-injury if you rush it. This sucks.
Be prepared for a Luka revenge tour next season
