Luka is a 1Q usage guy, he plays the full 1st and this is mostly the offense. It correlates to AR standing in the corner complaints. Luka highest scoring avg quarter is the 1st.
The lakers are terrible rebounding team (bottom 10). Converserly, the Lakers play a 3 guard lineup and they have centers that are prone to get lazy when not fed the ball. All the factors in when the whole point of the Lakers is to out score the opponent and hedge against being a weaker defensvie team, in terms of lineups and pieces. The lakers are hiding 2-3 bad defenders.
Lakers don’t like playing catchup. There’s a reason they get blown out. There identity has been to outscore/keep close against the team and then Luka goes off or AR goes off or Lebron goes off. Until March, the lakers dont play a solid 4 quarter game.
Lastly, the lakers when you don’t have Smart, have a slow ass (foot speed group), this is the crux of when the Lakers tried playing Rui+DLO+AR, Whenever that lineup missed shots, you are relying on slow ass players in transition D. This line up seems to be just as atrocious in that regard. Laravia/AR/Luka/Bron/Ayton isn’t running back well enough.

So it just snowballs when the margins are there. What helps is when the other team is cold shooiting. THer have been tons of games this year where both teams are close because both teams shoot like <.250 3pt and the Lakers stablize and their 3 stars get hot.
