Really nobody would be saying anything about this if Tatum and haliburton were not injured to start the season… both of them would clearly make All nba and we would still have Full legit teams of deserving players, as of now with those two out and ANT and Cade missing (the only guys who really deserve a look) we only have 4 guys who wouldnt usually make it actually make the team..

Second team: Duren, kawhi, Brunson, Mitchell, KD
Third Team: Maxey, Booker, Jalen Johnson, GAP Jamal murray, Barnes, Chet, Kat? Senguen? fighting for last two slots

So if Ant,cade make it and hali tatum are healthy, only 1 of the guys on 3rd team make all nba this year, probably jalen Johnson… so we still have real snubs in maxey/booker… the rule is working.

And minutes totally misses the mark here. Entire point of the 65 game rule is to minimize players sitting out games completely. Going by minutes totally negates that.

you’re not alone but hard cutoffs are just pretty stupid. missing 20% and missing 19% of games should not be a difference of eligible for every award and not even eligible for 3rd team. If an MVP frontrunner misses 1 more game, the difference should maybe be bump him down from 1st to 2nd team, not 1st team to not even making 3rd team.

It’s just cause you don’t care about awards and so you see it as a “free” way to motivate the players to play more.

As someone who focuses and cares about who wins awards from an in the moment and historical perspective this rule feels patronizing and is potentially ruining the integrity of awards. So you can appreciate the rule, but don’t act like people don’t have very good reasons to dislike this rule a lot.

Look at all the Kawhi all-time posts.

Look at the Wade / Harden debate.

An extra 2nd team wouldn’t change anyone’s opinion on any of them.

Giving someone an “undeserved” All-NBA isn’t changing things either (see DeAndre Jordan).
