LeBron asked what part of the day he feels 41: “When I wake up. I tell my teammates all the time, I go to sleep available and I wake up doubtful…And when I wake up. I’m fu*king doubtful every single time.”

Shit. Harrison Barnes is 33 and he took a nap and woke up with an ankle injury.
meirl
No lie, as a 33 year old, I woke up from a nap the other day with a shoulder strain and still don’t know how. I was running 3-5 pick up games a day less than 10 years ago lmao
That’s gonna keep happening, my friend.
I’m 41, same birth year as LeBron, and yeah millions of dollars in fitness and inherent genetics etc make a difference obviously, but it’s amazing to me he can still do what he does at that level. Your body really does break down in unforeseen ways as you get older.
Oh yea played basketball for too many years so my hips, back, ankles, and knees are already like 70 years old lol, but injury during a nap was definitely a new one
I’m -84 too, and sometimes i feel like i’m deteriorating so fucking quick. Doesn’t really help that i lived pretty rough life until i stopped that shit about 11 years ago, so in the past my both wrists have been broken, my back’s been broken so there’s some titanium involved, once the top of my finger got chopped off by accident. Well not off, it was hanging there by a sliver of skin, they stitched it back. I’ve been beaten and kicked and strangled(not only in the nice way) and all the shit like that. Once i had blood poisoning and that was kinda bad. Afterwards i realised i was pretty close to dying the first week and a half in the hospital, but then little by little i got better. Then when i thought there will be nothing more, a few years ago i lost couple of liters of blood since it was sloshing around in my stomach and not my veins anymore, so that was fun. Thank fuck i was in the hospital already, if i was still at home at that point, it would have been pretty quick way to die. But our bodies are sometimes so fucking resilient, like they just want to live and move and do stuff, and i am forever grateful to mine, since it’s kept me alive through all kinds of shit.
Damn you’ve already lived a crazier life than most people and you still have 84 years left before you even come out the womb
Ik you joking, but seriously speaking don’t the people in english speaking countries use the -84 saying that’s the year they were born? We do that shit here in Finland, i didn’t even think twice that maybe it’s not the same everywhere. Though US uses that fucking idiotic M/D/Y which makes no sense at all, unlike our superior and totally sensible D/M/Y, so i ain’t that surprised.
I thought you’re 84 years old ffs
don’t the people in english speaking countries use the -84 saying that’s the year they were born
No. You can use an apostrophe though, like “I’m ‘84”. Although, typically to state your birth year you would use a phrase like “‘84 baby here” or “‘84 chiming in” or something like that. It’s not wrong the way you said it but I wouldn’t word it that way, since if you just say “I’m ‘84” it kind of sounds like you’re saying you’re 84 years old unless someone else explicitly mentioned their birth year right before that. That said, it was obviously understandable from context and it didn’t impede the intelligibility of your comment.
that fucking idiotic M/D/Y which makes no sense at all, unlike our superior and totally sensible D/M/Y
They’re both stupid. We should all be using ISO 8601 (2026-04-02).
You shouldn’t be broken down at 41. We’ve normalized this as part of middle-age. With proper care and a focus on fitness you should be feeling amazing at 41.
I’ll have tennis elbow for a couple days if I sleep wrong.
Man something similar happened to me about 4 months ago. I woke up with extreme shoulder pain. I have no idea what happened. I could barely move without pain for about 24 hours. I had to stay in bed. Then it just….went away. Hasn’t happened before or since. I’m 39 lol
I’m 32 and went to bed 2 days ago with an ankle that felt a bit stiff, and when I woke up the next morning it couldn’t bear any weight. I’m at work now but still can’t do much more than limp and hobble.
Ruined his streak of like 364 consecutive games played too
What?! He’s been in the league so long I thought he was 40. Damn
My conspiracy theory is he was playing kinda bad so they sent him home for rest for a few weeks to get his legs back. He’s been a little better since the retuning
31, slept the wrong way, woke up with back spasms and needs at least a week to barely be functional lol
now that’s the right amount of laughing at a joke made by LeBron James
Definitely the most interesting part of this video. It’s really hard to imagine what it’s actually like being LeBron – a truly one-of-one experience. And obviously not only because people laugh harder at his jokes.
That’s why whenever someone like mentions his “ego” as a knock, it’s like… what would you expect. It’d be almost impossible not to have a ridiculous, almost transcendent ego in his position. He probably does, on some level, feel like a god of sorts. I wouldn’t blame him.
Except in the mornings when he is doubtful of himself.
Or when he tries to read a book
I thought when he said doubtful he was talking physically, like he might not be ready to go that game day: available to play, doubtful to play. I don’t think he meant he was doubting himself.
they were just joking :)
Went right over my head then.
It’s okay, we all feel doubtful
Totally. Imagine getting a literal tattoo that says “Chosen One” and everyone totally agreeing that it makes perfect sense. It’s miraculous that the guy is as grounded as he is
“Chosen One” on a national magazine as a teen. Dude has turned out better than I would have, that’s for sure.
Hmmm i seem to remember him getting a ton of shit for that tattoo. I think he even said something about it in his decision 2.0.
Fair, but by now no one would question it
Bobby fairways laughs this hard at anyone’s jokes, Hes just a happy guy
I mean, there was that few year stretch when he was exiting CLE and just got to MIA when he was essentially the most hated (or at least ridiculed) man in sports. I’d have to imagine some of that got to him, especially when people were going for things not even sports related like his hairline. I couldn’t imagine being the first NBA superstar to represent the league during that transition to the social media era. He handled it with grace though.
On the flip side, the amount of love and praise received during his legendary 2016 run was like the polar opposite of his Miami days so I’m sure he felt like a god then.
All things considered, he seems extremely well grounded.
I wonder if celebrities get sick of ass kissing brown nosers who laugh at every joke like it’s the funniest thing they’ve ever heard
Who am I kidding. Of course they don’t
I think it’s horrible when someone fake laughs at something i say. People really like that shit?
pee pee poo poo
HAHAHA
knocks em dead every time
Bob is like this with pretty much anybody. He just laughs a lot in general.
What an asshole
Said r/nba
That’s just how Bob is. He laughs hard at everything
Jimmy Fallon laugh. He should be slapping the steering wheel a couple times too
And Jimmy Fallon is leagues above this guy in the fake laughing department lol
Bron’s delivery was pretty good there tho, got me chuckling at least
It’s going to feel weird having been invested in NBA basketball when the main character in that story is about three years away from saying “yeah, outside of my kids I don’t watch or care about basketball at all.”
LeBron loves the game too much for that to ever happen + he wants to own a team
He was recently interviewed saying he doesn’t care to own a team anymore
A year of retirement will change his mind I think. Plus ownership groups will approach him trying to get him in the mix.
TBH, I think the amount of money you need to be an owner has changed dramatically since LeBron entered the league and he probably is reevaluating based on that.
If his net worth was $1 billion he’d own 10% of an expansion team if he put all of his net worth to it (if that was even possible). Definitely a bad deal
I predict a venture capitalist will buy a stake in some small team and get lebron in their group.
The smallest team, maybe the grizzlies or the pelicans, would still get north of $2 billion now
My understanding is that a larger investment group buys a portion of the team and uses a celebrity as their face. Isn’t that what happened with jay-z and the nets?
Yeah, I mean that is true. But the juice isn’t worth the squeeze I’d imagine for LeBron
Oh damn really? Well I still think he’ll always be around
He was recently interviewed saying he doesn’t care to be around anymore
Right, it seems I’ve missed a lot of interviews. But time will tell I suppose.
He was recently interviewed saying that time will not tell
Lmao these comments cracking me up
Just earlier today he actually had an interview where he said it wasn’t cracking you up
Good one but joke’s rinsed now
😂😂😂😂 Gtfoh
I saw a clip saying he’s been reading Lord Redesdale’s Tales of Old Japan and has a growing interest in ritual seppuku. I can’t remember if it was on All the Smoke or Club Random.
First page of both books are similar so I can see the confusion.
“There’s too much fucking shit on me.” -Lebron
I’m not surprised, I wouldn’t be able to deal with the people in the media the way he does. I would’ve been cussed out SAS & especially Skip fucking bayless every time my name leaves their mouth, he probably going enjoy being out of the mix lol.
I hope so. Gonna be a sad day when he retires
Probably realized the evaluations are currently far outpacing his money.
That’s what we said about Kobe. Sometimes these guys put so much effort into it that they don’t care for it when they’re all said and done
Kobe didn’t even touch a basketball after retiring
He would still show up to games
True but he said it was mostly bc of his daughter
Gigi helped reignite his love of the game. But he always showed up when Trae Young or Luka Doncic were playing
You mean the dude that was putting out an award winning short about basketball? Or the dude who was putting on a regular show Details breaking down specific players games and challenging them on areas to do better? Or the dude constantly going to NBA and WNBA games with his daughter because she also loved the game and he wanted to share and teach it with her? Yep, clearly that dude was done with basketball.
that team is strictly being purchased by a single gagillionaire. 10 billion for a team is insane… only they have that money to spend like its nothing.
Implying that’s somehow different from Michael “NASCAR” Jordan?
I’m 33, in fairly good shape and the soreness I feel after a pickup game in the mornings is ridiculous. And this isn’t even full court basketball. 41 is egregious, not sure how he isn’t covered in ice on the sidelines when he subs out. I’d have my own personal ice bath.
Every Reddit comment is like “30s suck man, I’m 34 and if I walk up a flight of stairs I have to lay down for the rest of the day and ice my ankles and call into work for a week”
What’s going on with you guys. If you’re that sore in your 30s after playing half court you might not actually be in “fairly good shape”. That’s not old
Mfers hit bench twice a week and think they’re set lmaooo
They don’t even hit the bench.
95% of the older guys I play with don’t stretch or do strength training yet they wonder why their bodies are falling apart. I’m 37 and still moving well, still dunking, etc because I do those things.
My daughter and her husband are PTs, I am 51. I was an athlete growing up, took up golf a few years ago thinking I would just get right after it with basic stretching. Boy was I wrong lol. My kid/son in law put me on a daily stretching routine focusing on hips, hammys and core that takes me maybe 20 minutes, and it has changed everything for me. Knee pain? Better. Mobility? WAY better. Feeling like I just lost a UFC fight every morning after I golfed the day prior? Gone!
Stretch, my dudes/ladies. I promise you, it will help you later. Sorry for the rant, but you are spot on. Keep it up!
Yep, Im a PT and personal trainer and have noticed stretching is just always overlooked by most people! it’s the answer to most of your bodies aches and pains or repetitive injuries. Im 31 and stretch every morning and before any explosive activity and never have problems. Im in the best shape of mu life and that should be the case for most of your 30s if you take care of yourself even a little.
Yup and it’s not just stretching but HOLDING a stretch. I’m 35 and for the last 3 years I thought I was done for… after playing a round of golf my hips and lower back would be killing me, after going for a long ride on the exercise bike by hamstrings would be on fire for days. I thought I was “stretching” but my buddy called me out on day and said “you know holding that stretch for 5 seconds is doing absolutely nothing right?” Ever since then (only about 6 weeks ago) I hold a deep stretch for at least 30-40 seconds and my pain/soreness/tightness has evaporated.
Amount of fatties in the US has shifted the standard of what a “fit” person is
Here’s a fun exercise. Picture in your head what you think fat Elvis looked like. Then go google pictures of fat Elvis.
This is it. I got back issues, neck issues, sleep issues, and I feel fucked up after playing ball
But relative to the general fatass population I’m fit lmao
I can still do basically anything now I could do 15 years ago. The only thing I really notice is how stiff I am if I sit in the same position for more than half an hour or so. It’s like my joints have a warm up and cool down period now.
I’m 36 and in better shape than I was at 26. Definitely a lot stronger. I do a lot of power lifting.
But my peak for basketball athleticism was when I was like 19-21, I was definitely bouncier back then. But my body was completely different than it is now. Still play full court 5x5 and love it.
I do agree with you though that the doom and gloom about the 30s is a bit annoying. This is my favorite decade of life for sure, so far.
lol true, i guess it is reddit after all
Manual labor. Lots of jobs that pay well but will fuck up your body. By your 30s, you’ll have 10+ years of wear and tear.
And old injuries can still cause issues after they’ve healed. Some days I have pain in my shoulder from breaking my collarbone playing rugby. Two of my buddies have bad knees from football and they’ll have random days where their knee is stiff and their mobility is limited. All of those injuries occurred in our teens but they bother us more in our 30s than in our 20s
I’d put myself in that category. For me, some guy ran into my knee on a fast break and destroyed my meniscus. So now I have degenerative osteoarthritis and my bones just grind against each other. Also had multiple ankle injuries and ended up needing to get it fully reconstructed. I think I’m in fairly good shape cus of my muscle/fat and have decent cardio. But if I play basketball I’m moving around for the next few days like I was in a car crash.
I feel like people have very different definitions of ‘fairly good shape’. You’re still in your prime, not a professional athlete with 20+ years of wear and tear lol.
There’s good shape for the average person, and then there’s Professional sport athlete level
Luka when he was heavier was still in better shape than most people
Being able to play full court basketball at NBA pace for a whole game puts you above 99.9% of people in terms of cardio. NBA players are just such freaks that even when they get “fat” they’d still run circles around the average non-pro cardio enthusiast.
You can be fat and still have good endurance/stamina. Assuming you built it before you got fat. It doesn’t just disappear overnight.
At only 33? That sounds pretty rough for just playing pickup
Eh, the cardio part is fine. My leg muscles just don’t handle exploding/jumping/elevating on a jump shots as well. I also don’t hoop consistently so I’m sure that contributes. But yes, it is rough
you’re not in good shape if you feel sore after a pickup game at age 33 bro. Stop lying to yourself.
I Literally take a bath, stretch for 15 minutes before the washed up Sunday hoop sessions just to brick open 3s and miss layups. Lebron doing this at 41 is crazy.
Here’s my secret to longevity: I’ve always bricked open 3s and missed layups
LeBron puts millions into his body every year and already has ridiculous genetics. His 41 is probably like 30 for us
At 30 I wasn’t first in the NBA in fast break points!
He is on PEDs, you are not
I think they stopped doing ice baths during games because they realized you don’t want your muscles contracting while you’re still using them
Stealing Joe Mazzulla’s joke…
lebron being an active player and several years older than mazzulla should tell you something. when mazzulla was playing in college for WVU lebron was already a seven year vet
Meanwhile Mazzulla was still a Biblically accurate angel
👁️👄👁️
That’s a pretty crazy fun fact, I honestly thought mazulla was a couple years older, he’s closer to the harden/steph/kd group than LeBron
Same. Mazulla carries himself like he’s 45 😂
Mazulla beat John Wall and Boogie Cousins in the same game that Huggie Bear got to 2nd base with Daesan Butler on the court
It was probably coined by someone else long before Mazzulla.
Joe wasn’t joking, that’s his mindset. Goes to bed questionable, wakes up probable.
He’s reversing the joke
someday someone should ask lebron what it’s like being 40+
People on Reddit need to learn how to properly write out quotes. It’s infuriating. I’m always confused until I watch the clip.
“When I wake up. I tell my teammates all the time, I go to sleep available and I wake up doubtful… When I wake up I’m fucking doubtful every single time.”
Drives me nuts.
The EXACT same thing as OP wrote btw
See that’s my point. What OP wrote suggests that the sentence is “I tell my teammates all the time, I go to sleep available and I wake up doubtful (skipped words) and when I wake up.”
And then the very next sentence is “I’m fucking doubtful every single time.”
But what he actually said was first sentence “I tell my teammates all the time, I go to sleep available and I wake up doubtful.” And then there is skipped words. And then a new sentence starts that ends with “and when I wake up I’m fucking doubtful every single time.”
The way OP wrote it is nonsensical and wrong. There is no need to include “and” and the period after up is incorrect based on what LeBron said.
Punctuation matters in the written word. Clearly you’re unaware. You should educate yourself. Otherwise you get exposed as an idiot, and your comment is doing a great job of that.
“I got to sleep available and I wake up doubtful.”
-LeBron James -Michael Scott
LeMidlife Crisis
Dude stole mazzulla’s joke. If Tatum stole anyone’s joke he’d be kicked out of the league
LeMorningOf
As a 33 year old, it’d be dope if all the 33 year olds in this thread would stfu
Buddy laughing way too hard at Brons joke its making me uncomfortable
I mean it’s a pretty standard bob laugh
I will not stand for this slander of Bobby Fairways
You’d be on the floor laughing if you were there
Doubters gonna doubt
Half the time I wake up with some fucked up backache or my knee is acting up but once I get moving I feel a lot better. Obviously me and King James have a lot in common.
Dude going through midlife crisis
As a 40+, the part of the day when I feel 40+ is yes.
I feel that.
And then he goes on to do sky high dunks on almost a nightly basis these days. Just ridiculous stuff.
DNP: 40+
This guy steals Joe Mazzulla quotes. Who’s the GOAT now
Didn’t Joe Mazzulla make this joke like a month ago
Bro literally just stole another man’s quote lol
Can’t even be mad at that 😂
Shit I feel that exact same way at 36, been feeling that since 33 or so. Sadly I always have to be available for my office job 😔
Surprisingly, he’s played all but one (?) 2nd night of a B2B since he’s been back in November
Im gonna be so sad the day he announces his retirement

Relatable… I’m convinced my girl beats the shit out of me while I’m sleeping

He’s not lying I wake up and my back and neck hurt most mornings lol
so real
Anybody have the full link to this interview?
What the hell? LeBron was on Bob Does Sports? Bobby Fairways doing it big.
I am ready for Lebron’s DGAF phase. I thinknthay will be fun.
You are NOT Joe Mazzulla lil bro

That’s the most middle-aged man thing I’ve ever heard.
And incredibly accurate lol.
Wow stealing Mazzulla quotes 😭😭😭

Alright, this is funny😂😂

Me at 30 going to work at 4:30 am…
As a 53 year old I can relate.
Man LeBron is so durable it’s actually insane . But I definitely get this . Once your that age and play at that high of a level the question probably pops up a lot . “How long do I really got” but he still has some good years left
Sames
Questionable: Old
At 59 I’m the same. Waking up reminds me I’m old. My joints are stiff. I have some new pain. Could be a finger pain. Ouch. How did that happen. As I’m thinking how I hurt my finger I feel pain in my lumbar. Ouch. Now I’m thinking of my lumbar and sitting upright. I wonder existential stuff until I get into work then I feel normal.
anyone else hate how this guy is laughing with his mouth wide open like that
It does get harder, gotta fight through and have a goal and that will pull you there
everything you say when youre rich and successful is hilarious
The glaze continues
I hope he does own a team someday
Bron on Bob Does Sports is fucking crazy
Even crazier is how into youtube golf Bron is. He knew everyone by name even the camera guys, he immediately gave a take about the Internet Invitational drama and called out a dude who cheated… absolutely insane that Bron is this into it lmao
This sycophant started laughing before the punchline.
New fear unlocked
And this is LeBron saying that at 41????? Us mere mortals are so cooked
I thought it would be the other way around. Goes to sleep with some aches then wakes up feeling refreshed. Lebron gets some good sleep
I am 45 and in decent shape. My knees freaking throb. I see no way how his joints have held up. You can be solid muscle that cartlidge in your joints gives 2 f$cks about your muscle and build.
Yabadabdoo old navy
Bron never been more relatable as a 40-something hooper
Bro retire.
As a 42 years old I can confirm
Yet he plays extra minutes in blowout games to pad his stats.
