I’m not going to say I’ve never been worried about Jamal, but when he started the season totally healthy, he stopped being a concern at all. It’s the rest of the roster I’m interested in seeing if they can get it together.

In his career he’s never averaged above 22ppg before this year, typically around 5ppg less than Jokic. Not sure why you think he’s the number one scoring option, unless you mean “first after Jokic”

Jokic gets a ton of assists but he’s also the best scoring option on the Nuggets.

I’m 99% sure this guy is ragebaiting because he’s a Bucks fan but it’s fair to say in our recent stretch that Jamal has been the first scoring option, cause Jokic loves nothing more than feeding the hot hand and has been ending up with loads of assists by letting Jamal cook lately.

Yeah if you zoom in enough that’s fair, but nothing has structurally changed about the Nuggets offensive game plan to suggest feeding Murray is a new priority. Jokic is still the number one option when shit gets real or Murray’s not on.

Yeah, when it comes down to it we’ll rely on Jok to get buckets. Murray stepping up at least gives us a much better second option now, more than anything it’s his consistency that has improved and I think that’ll be vital in the playoffs.

He had the longest off season since his ACL tear. In 2023, he won the title and then played FIBA. Then in 2024 he had the Olympics. 2025 summer was his first summer where he actually had substantial rest since his injury; which I think plays a major role on why he’s having the best season of his career.

Imagine playing almost non stop professional basketball for 2 years following the recovery from a ACL tear

i’m on team murray for the purposes of this comparison, but it doesn’t really make sense to use all 3 shooting splits and then give murray the ‘win’ for FG% when his is nominally lower (yes, i know it’s simpson’s paradox at work, but it’s still an odd choice). either just use TS% to make it clearer, or bold each split by whoever’s is higher for that split

PER is also a worthless metric, although there’s something really amusing about seeing ‘PER (Efficiency)’. Player Efficiency Rating (Efficiency), except that it’s actually a terrible measure of efficiency, or for that matter anything besides an arbitrary mishmash of counting stats

Playoffs are a different beast, but I think the Wolves losing NAW is a huge deal for the matchup against the Nuggets because it is one less defender of that caliber or better to throw at Jamal. Wearing him out with waves of dudes was a big part of winning that series in 2024.
