[Highlights] Jalen Duren vs the Raptors was 12-13 from the field and 7-7 from the line with 31 points and 9 rebounds
Not really reflected in the box score:
He’s so handsome that they had to trade Jaden Ivey to keep him away.
Durens really stepped up while Cade had been out. Actually post Allstar Duren has been better than before the break.
Averaging 24 and 12 since Cade’s injury and also showing that he’s a legit all-star without Cade.
Always been a huge Duren fan, but I did not see him making such a big a leap this year. Kudos to him for clearly working his tail off during the offseason to dramatically improve his game on both ends of the floor.
And he’s about to get paid accordingly this offseason.
Playing these last couple games without Cade has really forced Detroit to address their lineup and adjustments which was a real concern this year in the non-Cade minutes. Duren with a bigger workload has clearly grown too. A sort of blessing in disguise.
Aren’t you guys like 12-5 post Cade Injury?
5-2 since the lung injury and 10-3 without Cade for the season. A testament to how talented and deep this team is.
MIP
Nah Poeltl sucks and CMB is playing center at 6’6”
I got nothing to argue against that but I say this looking at the entire year. Duren has been phenomenal throughout. NAW has an equally good case though
I think like of the MIP candidates who is actually the best and most desirable player of them it is Duren
Oh for sure, but against the Raptors he can do whatever he wants with zero resistance.
Raptors owned him last month
Sure but he’s consistently been putting up these kinds of performances this season
Poor Poeltl can’t do anything against him; paint looked mad free.
Poeltl rocking the eyebrow band aid made Duren abusing him the entire game feel even more cruel
Every bucket was in the paint. 🫡
A mid 2000’s post would dominate this era.
Including Jalen Duren
Of course, he’s a Philly bred hooper.
Does paint defense exist at Raptors?
Scottie Barnes can only do so much
Jakob Poetl definitely exists, he’s just getting fucking roasted in every single aspect of basketball in this clip. Off the dribble? Most certainly. Back cut? Nap time. On the glass? Too strang.
Like the Pistons colour guy says. He’s just stronger than anyone else. CMB, Scottie, and Jak are stout enough against most teams, especially for what passes for a “big” in today’s NBA, but not against this specimen of a unit. And then he’s much quicker and more agile than Jakob, he doesn’t have a prayer of guarding Duren on the perimeter with a live dribble.
Duren is becoming a problem. Last few weeks he’s been a beast inside and way more efficient offensively.
New meta is to have some version of “Jalen” as a first name
We gave the Knicks the cap space to sign Jalen Brunson and you gave us Jalen Duren. Again, thank you to the Knicks organization, we can’t thank you enough.
Were both pretty happy, I think.
Durens a dawg, but wouldn’t have done as well in NY, IMO.
Brunson is what we needed
Nothing but respect for Brunson, but Duren wouldn’t have done as well in NY? If I were a Knicks fan who is currently stuck with KAT and Mitch up front, I might delusion myself into thinking that too in order to lessen the pain of trading him, but come on, we both know Jalen Duren would be a stud wherever he played.
He’s averaged 24 and 12 since Cade got a punctured lung a few weeks ago and he’s only 22 years old. Dude is an absolute beast.
Expectations have been lower in Detroit than NY.
He might not have progressed as well.
KATs also been playing like a top 15 player since ASB.
Mitch is also a top 3 impactful defender during his minutes.
Progression isnt linear.
I heard Knicks fans were delusional, but come on.
Expectations for the Pistons have been higher than the they have been for the Knicks since midsession because we’re simply a better team.
Show me any form of stats that show KAT is a top 15 player since the ASB or that Mitch is a top 3 defense, I bet you can’t find them because they’re imaginary.
You’re 13–8 since the ASB and the last time you played the pistons in Detroit you lost by 38.
Lmao
Haha, LMAO back atcha. 1973 was a long time ago, but keep drinking that kool aid. And thanks again for Duren.
Dude, cmon. Don’t be this cringey.
Nobody is talking about 1973 lmao.
If you cant see the different expectations of the Knicks vs Detroit and their roster composition, then you have no reasoning skills beyond a very basic level.
Okay tell me more about these Knicks “expectations” you speak of? Do you really think this Knicks roster has a chance at a championship?
Your roster construction is broken and it has been on full display this season. KAT is and always will be disaster on defense, that’s why Minnesota dumped him.
You way overpaid for Bridges, and OG will always be injury prone. Brunson is an amazing scorer, but he’s also a liability on defense because of his size. What are you so excited about?
There’s a reason the Pistons are the #1 seed in the East and the Knicks are seven games back while getting smoked by the Pistons twice this season.
Who would you rather have as a core three for the next five years at a minimum, Cade, Duren, and Ausar or Brunson, KAT and take your pick of Bridges or OG? Go ahead, take your time…
Only 22 btw
So why didn’t he play vs OKC?
-Spurs fans
I guess JB decided to sit all of our starters outside of Ausar because they had the Raptors on the second night of a back-to-back. Honestly, If think that’s the first time the Pistons have rested their starters like that all season.
Also, who wants to play in yet another game where SGA gets more free throw attempts than the entire team he plays against.
And on a side note, love how the Spurs have dominated OKC this season. And on a second side note, I didn’t love how Wemby and the Spurs beat us twice this season. Nothing but respect, but that Wemby guy ain’t fair ;)
It was one of the hardest travel B2Bs of the season, makes sense to rest the important players.
IMO, JB scheduling that game as a loss was weak.
That said, the 25 ftas Flopmaster Shai was given was absurd. It was sad to watch the Pistons lose on missed free throws.
I mean, come on, Spurs fan, really? Pop started load management, Kawhi made it fashionable while he was still on the Spurs, and Wemby has been on a minutes restriction all season.
Like I said, I honestly think this the first time the Pistons have done this all season, and most NBA teams can’t make the same claim this far into the season.
And yeah, first time I watched a full SGA game this season, and his antics have become so stale. He’s a phoenomenal player without the foul baiting, it’s almost like he’s addicted to it at this point.
I was disappointed that the load management didn’t happen on the 2nd game of the B2B, because the Pistons are locked in at the 1 seed and the Spurs are chasing the Thunder 2 games in the loss column behind OKC
Haha ahhh, gotcha. Well, from a strategy standpoint, it looks like it was the right call. And we almost and basically did beat them with out second unit if it wasn’t for the refs, what more do you want?
And come on, as a Spurs fan who has won David Robinson, Tim Duncan and Wemby via the NBA draft lottery in the past three decades alone, should you really be asking or expecting additional help from any NBA franchise, let alone the Pistons?
I just think ducking the defending champs was weak. Sweeping them would have sent a message of strength, considering that in your win OKC rested all their starters except Dort.
Haha wow, as a Spurs fan, you’re really going to keep going on this argument? The Spurs literally invented sitting out their key players for regular season games that don’t matter. The game didn’t matter to us, apparently it mattered to the Spurs and that’s their problem, not ours.
There would’ve been literally nothing meaningful about “sweeping” OKC because the first time we played, their entire team was out except for Dort, so that win was meaningless.
We were already without Cade and Stewart going in, hadn’t rested our starters all season, so we did, who cares.
Now, did we do it because we want OKC to get the #1 seed because they’re a better matchup for us than the Spurs if we make the finals? It’s possible, but please stop calling out the Pistons for being “weak” when the Spurs are the kings of this nonsense over the years. It’s not a good look.
I respect your opinion, but it doesn’t change mine. Resting players on the FRONT end of a B2B vs the team with the best record is weak, by difinition..
Game ended at 12:30 am and they had another game a 3 hour flight away at 8 pm
It was such bullshit scheduling
Yup, poor 81 year old George Blaha was playfully complaining about it before the game started.
They played the Wolves on the 28th, and @ OKC was on the 30th.
Also, flight time from OKC to Detroit is less than 2.5 hours.
Pistons in full tank mode, the evidence is clear
