You don’t want refs second guessing calls because they are worried about getting fined though, that could work the opposite way and actually give them some plausible deniability if there is a foul call but they don’t call it, for example.

Giving techs and making calls are completely different no one is getting fined for making a wrong call. We absolutely want refs second guessing giving a technical foul. Giving techs for talking shit is absurd.

It looks bad for brothers but the replay signal is becoming a sneaky way of showing up the refs. They need to be more thick skinned but it’s annoying seeing the players do this on 50% of the calls.

Then the players will come up with a new sign that tells their coach they wanna challenge. How else would they tell them right now?
It’s irrelevant. The coaching staff can make that decision without the player.
But players also have a unique vantage point and communicating that to the coaches is important. I fail to see what impact a rule change would have.

Challenges should be immediate and not disrupt play like they currently do.
On top of this, it should be a strict time limit. The ref gets like 60 seconds. If they haven’t decided, the play stands.
Instead what we get is:
Ball goes out. 5 seconds of players hopping like rabbits mouth agape twirling their hands like they’re trying to summon a tornado.
Ref is holding the ball for absolutely no reason waiting for the coach to challenge. Refs go to the monitor for 4 minutes watching the play in 3x slow mo. It’s bad for the game.
Lol, why is it irrelevant, because MitchLGC doesn’t like it? The coach has a bad view, he’s off the court. The player involved in the call would know best if the call was incorrect. A good coach would want to know the player’s opinion.
If you dislike players signaling that much then you should just suggest they remove challenges, I wouldn’t even be opposed to that. But since we do have challenge players absolutely should be able to signal to their coach what they think of the play.
The player knows if they touched the ball or not before it went out of bounds. The heck you smoking. How is a player’s input irrelevant?

I actually agree with this. Make it like ABS in baseball where you have to signal immediately. Delaying the game and asking your video assistant if you should review it is just a stupid process. This would force players to be honest with themselves and not waste a challenge out of anger
