Years ago, I kinda adopted the Celtics as my second team I’d root for in the dog days of the season when the Hornets would be like 20-45. I wouldn’t watch them intensely but I really appreciated their culture, Larry Bird is a favorite all-time, blah blah.

If the Hornets lose 1 of Melo/Kon/Miller/Bridges/Diabate, you can just tell the wheels will fall off this machine. I’m perpetually like “this team can’t handle even an ankle sprain”.

Meanwhile.. Celts lose Tatum for the first ³⁄₄ of the season, White shoots abysmally, Brown is thrusted into an even bigger role, they trade Jrue/KP, lose Horford, and everyone accepts it as a punt season. But nooooooo. Queta is putting up ¹⁰⁄₈, Garza/Hauser/Baylor/Walsh/Hugo are all thrusted into (and for some, out of) the lineup, Brown is a top whatever MVP candidate, Tatum is back in great form, and they’re a top seed in the East.

On the one hand, fuck that lol. But on the other, nothing but respect to that front office and Mazzulla. Their culture just freaking oozes success.

Playoffs in 18 of the last 19 seasons. They might not have the dominance of dynastic teams but there arent many teams have been consistently good.

Here in Australia there’s a team in our Aussie Rules Football league, Collingwood, that most people (including me) dislike, partially because the fanbase is huge and you can’t get away from them, partially because of the fans’ behaviour and partially because the team is so rarely bad.

I’ve realised the Celtics are the NBA equivalent, so now whenever I see someone hating on or downplaying the Celtics on here, I just reframe it to the way I think about Collingwood and am filled with understanding and compassion lol
