When the Thunder aren’t playing I watch a lot of Knicks and they’ve become my 2nd favourite team to watch for 80 games a year and KAT this season just hasn’t been utilized well in Mike Brown’s system. He’s been better post all star break tbf to him, but tonight was legitimately head scratching and almost infuriating how little KAT got utilized. We had Caruso or Lu on him almost all night and yet the Knicks could never get him the ball in the post. I mean it got me angry just as a basketball fan as to why tf Jose Alvarado is taking a 30 footer when KAT has 6’4 Alex Caruso pinned down low.

Brown and the players haven’t done a good job finding KAT consistently all season long. If we don’t figure it out fast, we have to shot at a chip this season. Playing through KAT more often and Hart being aggressive from three point land are the two biggest swing factors for the Knicks. IMO.

He’s used as a bruiser down low when facing us, this has been a trend for a while now. Last season he shot 1-2 from three one game against us and he didn’t attempt a three at the other game.

I think the main reason he’s used as a bruiser against us specifically however is because of the fact that we have guys like Lu, Caruso & Dub on him, hence why they’d rather he back them down instead of standing by the 3pt line.

Knicks just also haven’t been able to unlock KAT to his fullest pretty much ever since he got there. He’s had flashes but then they immediately resort to just icing him out of the offense and playing him like Tim Duncan instead of the best 3pt shooting and floor spacing big man in the league.

It’s even more baffling that this is statistically, one of the best Knicks teams like ever. They’re top 5 offensively, top 5 defensively while also being in the Top 5 in Net Rating. They’ll have games where they’ll be so locked in on both ends of the floor and beat the brakes out of contenders like Boston & San Antonio, and then they’ll have games where they’ll come out flat, lackadaisical, turn the ball over a ton, let the other team get like 10 open 3s and go down 20 to a tanking Jazz team and have to mount a comeback to win.

They’re a weird team in that the numbers say that they are a really good team and are by all counts a top 4 contender and should be the favourite to come out of the east but the effort is so up and down that you never know what version of the Knicks you’ll get on a game by game basis.

Like you I fully believe that the Knicks are the team to beat in the easy and will be the team to rep the Eastern Conference in the Finale, they just need to be ready come playoff time because they can hang with the best of them, and they’ve proved it many times this season.

I think this idea of talent only applies to KAT and he is nowhere near as disciplined or dominant as you’d hope. As a Knicks fan he is not someone I’m too happy to have on my team.

The sub was CRICKETS when KAT threw a forearm at Caruso’s neck, but you had some people genuinely saying that McCain was playing dirty during the McBride instance.

I’m not going to lie. I think we had a favorable whistle tonight compared to the Boston game, but it’s like coaches and players go in and think theyre immediately going to be fucked over when they play OKC.

It’s truly insane. Real Madrid, Kansas City, prime LA teams, the Heatles did not get the entire league questioning the integrity of the game. It’s absurd.

This is still not true lol, we had 12 offensive rebounds this game compared to 15 for the Knicks.

We are decent at getting offensive rebounds after shooting bricks from three because it’s a crapshoot and basically an effort thing.

Something interesting to me that was said during the broadcast was that KAT was told he would need to sacrifice some for the betterment of the team. IMO , that is the worst thing I could have heard as a Knicks fan. If you can’t manufacture touches for an all star center and work some of the offense through him to get him going , then that is terrible coaching. There is minimal emphasis to have him impact games.

It’s a challenge with the offense they run which focuses on DHO and when KAT creates for himself he commits a ton of offensive fouls. When others try to create for him it’s been a struggle

Man Reggie and the broadcast absolutely dogged Kat all game and I gotta say, he fully deserves it.

Year after year you watch this guy who has all the talent in the world do nothing for 20 min of game time, then decide to dominate for a 3-4 minute stretch, then just go back to chilling.

It’s gotta be maddening to watch as a fan of his team knowing at any moment he could have 10 points in the next 2 minutes or 0 shot attempts in the next quarter.

Idk, kinda feel like that’s life when you’re not much of a creator. People used to say similar things about AD’s scoring. Biggest issue with KAT is his defense. It’d be a lot easier to live with the scoring ups and downs if the defense was consistently good.

I mean some of that is just Caruso and how small defenders are officiated. Caruso’s done that to Wemby and Jokic too. He’s just tough and knows how to get away with contact and has elite hands.

KAT’s just a limited player who’s really miscast as a second option guy when he probably should be more like a third option play finisher. And that plus not being good defensively is tough. And he’s on this big ass contract, which stinks.

I know people are going to balk at SGAs free throw attempts, but I’m not too sure which calls people feel were undeserved in this one, outside of the call on OG early in the game. I actually thought shai “baited” less than usual tonight.

Awful, awful product. All this talk about tanking, inspiration, load management, etc. The officiating is the biggest indictment against silvers NBA.

Watching this product legitimately mentally drains you regardless which team you support. Even when I watch other teams games it’s so apparent when there is favoritism or just plain old awful officiating. Like that clippers/pacers game the other day. What a headache. It’s draining.
