Yeah we really need Carter Bryant to clean up his offense because his frame is perfect for big wings like Kawhi who are just a little too big for Castle. He’ll square up with them for sure but for the Kawhi/Tatum/Siakim types it’s still not an ideal matchup.

I don’t think the odds are that low crazily enough, simply because the Spurs are gonna have to pay way too much salary for as much talent as they have. An ability to offload 55-60M per year without taking any money back will be very tempting in a year or two.

Depends on when the expansion draft happens. The Spurs very well might not protect him from an expansion draft. Especially if he doesn’t play well in the next couple of postseasons. Although, that might not be such a crazy thing even if he does play well because the new teams very well may not want a 30-year-old Fox on their rosters even if he does continue to perform at the level he’s been performing this season.
It also depends on the other teams’ owners priorities. Are they looking to quickly cash in on owning a basketball team by assembling a roster that could theoretically win 30 to 40 games immediately or are they looking to slowly build a team that could compete for the playoffs three to five years down the line?
I think a 30-year old Fox making $60 million dollars for one or two years is vastly more attractive in the first scenario than the second one.

His assist numbers are so misleading. When he makes it a point of emphasis his play making is actually already borderline elite.
Throwing lobs to guards, hitting back cuts, the precise placements into his shooter’s pockets. The audacity to attempt passes most won’t. It’s all there
Still inconsistent at times but man the flashes of brilliance are so apparent in this department. I expect that part of his game to age like fine wine he’s just too damn smart
His passing is definitely more elite than most people give him credit for. I’m not saying it’s Jokic-level, but he has the skillset to be a more competent playmaker than virtually any other center in the league not named Jokic.
His passes also just aren’t super snappy on account of his stilt-arms. So often he creates an advantage tilting the defense, but it’s the 2nd or 3rd pass where we get the open look.
Wemby tossed around a lot of crazy passes in his first two seasons. A lot of the time, they resulted in a bad pass or turnover. Now that he has better teammates and is smarter about his timing on these passes, we get a lot more cool highlights like this.

Tall point guards aren’t anything new, and we did have Yao back then. He couldn’t do all that Wemby does, but he was close enough that I wouldn’t have been shocked to learn someone of similar height had guard skills.

No doubt in my mind Yao had the talent to do what Wemby is doing (at least offensively), especially if he stayed skinny. It was just a different era and he was asked to dominate from the post instead

Yao grew up in a world where “center” meant Shaq, so virtually every seven-footer was either trying to be him or stop him for a generation, so Yao’s game evolved down a different path than Wemby’s as a result. But the size and innate skill were very similar. (One notable difference is Yao had relatively short arms; his wingspan was the normal human ratio relative to height, whereas Wemby also has freakishly long arms.)
Wemby vs. Yao kinda reminds me of Sabonis vs. Jokic. There are a lot of similarities in skill and style, but the modern guys are like the evolution of the earlier models. In both cases, the earlier player sort of provided a blueprint proving what guys that size could do, and the younger guy ran with it. Without guys like Sabonis and Yao (along with some others), Jokic and especially Wemby probably become different players.
If Yao had stayed thinner, his career probably would’ve lasted longer, too.
