[Highlight] Nikola Jokić (23 PTS, 21 REB, 19 AST) is the first player in NBA History to total back-to-back games with 15+ PTS, 15+ REB, and 15+ AST as he helps Denver defeat Dallas, 142-135.
We really are numb to the absurd stats he puts up
I think a lot of it is because he’s so nonchalant about it where he treats it as business as usual and that carries over. Like having watched hundreds of Jokic games, tonight was just another Jokic game.
Last night he said “it just happens” and the interviewer said “well, it just happens a lot” and he laughed and just kinda shrugged.
Yup. Doing this in games scheduled so close together, their start times were less than 24 hours apart is so insane, and it’ll be mentioned with a throw away line on national NBA shows like “Jokic did his normal thing 23/21/19, just another ho hum game haha.” and that’s it.
Jokić totals his 4th career 20+ PTS, 20+ REB, and 15+ AST game, passing Oscar Robertson for the 2nd-most in NBA history and trails only Wilt Chamberlain (5)
That’s actually insane
I know when skill is relative across eras, absolute stats can look absurd and unbelievable. But this dude Wilt literally has been in the number one spot.. for every single record breaking stat I’ve seen this year. Like compared to everyone he played against, you gotta respect how monstrous he was, because he was still playing the game he grew up with just like we are today. He would absolutely destroy today too.
Congrats to Jokic, my G.O.A.T center fr
Oscar Robertson - 1 championship
Wilt chamberlain - 2 championships
Nikola Jokic - 1 championship
Russell Westbrook - 0 championships
Fun playstyle, but not conducive to longevitive championship success
We are also in an era of parity in the NBA. Past 7 seasons, seven different champions. 2nd apron making it all the more difficult.
Robert Horry - 7 championships
(Using rings as a parameter for how good a player is without context means nothing)
Didn’t say Jokic wasn’t good, his playstyle is not gonna bring another championship. It’s just obvious, if he wants another ring he has to change
almost every superstar who was multiple champion had another superstar next to him. MJ,Lebron,Magic,Kobe,Shaq whoever you wanna say
What should he change, how should he play?
He should win more rings. That’s a playstyle, right?
Joker making history and we’re all here to watch it. It’s really something special. My mom watched basketball in Jordan’s time and someone like Jokic was just not thought to be possible then, she couldn’t think of anybody in history you could expect to put up this kind of statline back to back.
Jokic is a freak
A 20-20-20 would’ve been an insane stat but it seems like a normal Jokic game.
The greatest player of all time if you don’t care about defense
Nico Harrison would trade Jokic for Bol Bol.
Shaq approves of this trade
Bol Bol is unironically worse than Jokic defensively
I was going to say “what did he do to you?” but then I saw your flair lol.
Nah Jordan and Lebron still clear him offensively
Jokic is better from 3, a better passer, more efficient from inside, better offensive rebounder…
Has there ever been a version of Jokic that was better than 2018 Bron?
The closest might have been in 2022-23 when he won the championship but then again:
Jokic 2022-23: 30.0/13.5⁄9.5 Lebron 2017-18: 34.0/9.1⁄9.0
Lebron did all of this with worse teammates. The only other teammate who scored double digits was Kevin Love at 15 PPG. Meanwhile, Jokic had 5 with double-digit PPG, with Jamal Murray averaging 26.1 PPG during the playoffs.
This is just on the offensive end btw. Lebron is also a better player defensively which, let’s not forget, also saps energy he could otherwise use for the offensive end
Ok? I never said anything about defense. Btw 4 rebounds are worth more than 4 points
the only reason I watch the nba.
poetry in motion.
MVP
Jamal Murray might be a top 10 shooter I’ve ever seen.
When he’s on he is ON. Not many guys in history that get as hot as he does. But his biggest issue is continuity. But his crazy shot making is GOAT level. Too bad we get that 1 in 4 games.
He’s a true microwave
Jamal this year has been as consistent as you can ask for without him being the best player on the team. He’s had his off times on past years, but he’s seemed more consistent than jokic (!) this season which is insane. This is a Jamal legacy season and if he’s not all NBA then idk what he needs to do to make it
Goddamn. Jokic said he’s sprinting to the end for the MVP race
Legendary!
Luka could never
How is he not a lock for MVP every season. They should have an MVP and a Player of the Year trophy.
My main problem with Denver is their defence. How do you let sub par team as Dallas score 135 points on your home court?
142 to 135. Zero defense being played.
Anybody notice the final score?
😆
Bro shut up did you see our final score?
Some of the assists he got credited for in this game are absurd. They shouldn’t count as assists.
Great game tho
And some assists were negated by polayers being fouled at a dunk so it kinda balances out… He had at least 4 asists that didn’t count because of fouls at the rim
Some of the foul calls that…
nevermind you clown
