Nikola Jokic in the last 24 hours: 43 PTS, 38 REB, 36 AST, 3 TOV

These numbers are unheard of holy shit
That is SHOCKINGLY close to back to back 20/20/20 games. And 36 assists to 3 turnovers is ridiculous
He did it against Dallas lol relax like Aaron Rodgers said
Needs 40-40-40 for mvp.
40-40-40 is my drink lineup after an average work day
If he can’t go 20/20/20 back to back then he’s a fuckin bum
And 3 turnovers? Useless
He fucking choked away his chance, smh
Him falling of the MVP race is voter’s fatigue fs
It’s kinda insane how much sway the media has in the MVP race. I mean, I guess that makes perfect sense, but still… Jokic still putting up video game numbers, but now he’s 5th on everybody’s MVP boards and is squarely out of ‘best in the league’ convos… Just cuz the media stopped talking about him.
We could call this the Giannis Effect
The MVP is only about the current regular season. Most analysts, if given a truth serum, would probably pick Jokic in the playoffs over SGA and anyone else.
Idk if Giannis ever really was the best player in the league, unlike Jokic who’s indisputably held that crown since 2023. One could easily argue Steph and Kawhi were better in 2019, LeBron and AD in 2020, KD in 2021, and Steph in 2022.
Most analysts, if given a truth serum, would probably pick Jokic in the playoffs over SGA and anyone else.
Idk. NBA storylines are entirely dependant on shortsighted ‘what have you done for me lately?’ thinking and recent team performances in big games. Right now, the consensus is that SGA is just better than Jokic, but if the Nuggets win some nationally televised games going forwards, the narrative could flip.
Sorta like how a few weeks ago Luka was washed and absolutely sucked, then the Lakers won some games, and he instantly became the MVP runner-up. It’s WILD how over-reactive fans and media analysts can be.
Idk if Giannis ever really was the best player in the league
Yeah, I was more pointing to the fact that Giannis was completely discarded from those discussions altogether earlier this year, despite his huge stats. What’s funny is, the second he gets traded to a big market team that can win games, he’ll jump right to the top of the MVP discussion again. So it goes
He’s out of the MVP race but he’s absolutely the best in the league. Filter the ESPN and NBA fraudcasting space out, even after he’s actually done being the best, he’ll still be considered the best for a year or so, that’s just how it goes. People are slow on the uptake, but that cuts both ways. They’re also slow to let what they know go.
The media is who votes on MVP. Who else would have sway?
Let’s not do this man, I’m as much of a Jokic and Nuggets fan as anybody. SGA is the MVP this year, it’s not a race with anyone anymore. Beyond that the list just doesn’t matter, the ladder is probably just engagement bait. Jok just got injured at a terrible time, took 25ish days to get back to his normal self, and in that time we played .500 ball and lost all our head-to-heads with OKC as well as other contenders, with a lot of them coming in the clutch, which is Jokic’s specialty. It’s not like last season where it could’ve tilted either way. He’s had his gaudy numbers, but this year isn’t a carry job like last year so we don’t even have that argument.
He should be a 5 time mvp but media’s gonna media
Should be 6th in a row after this
Just him. If you relax the numbers a bit you can bring the usual suspects into the picture (Wilt, Russ, Oscar), but nobody has hit these marks.
Only Jokic has ever done that in a 2 game span.. Not to mention they where B2B.
36 assists and 3 turnovers is fucking insane lmao
I’m not one to say this but maybe he saw Lowe’s podcast where he’s saying jokic is turning the ball over like crazy lmao
Jokic set the bar so high that people actually thought he was playing “bad” post injury. His numbers are still outrageous
He was playing bad post injury
The shooting was a challenge and the turnovers crept up but in the 10-15 games post injury he still put up wild stat lines. “Bad” for his standard is a different threshold competitively.
I think he was regular bad and especially in high profile games against good teams he put up a decent amount of stinkers the past couple of months
Lol regular bad. K.
I mean he obviously wasn’t deangelo russell type bad but he was bad like most good players are when they have rough stretches
These post injury numbers are regular bad? No
https://www.reddit.com/r/nba/s/4Fe08tvooT
Yes his actual play on the court during many of those games post injury was regular bad
Imagine arguing with a Nuggets flair about their franchise player’s performance my goodness. You’re completely right and only delusionals who didn’t watch the games would disagree.
jokic points post injury 31/16/24/24/30/22/22/26/22/32 against the clippers, okc, pistons, knicks, bulls, cavs, grizzlies, clippers, and trailblazers
just in case anyone wants some context
He was averaging 6 turnovers per game post injury but it’s gone down quite a bit now iirc.
He was passing the ball like he had brain damage. Now that has worn off he cannot find his shot anymore.
Jokic finishing 4th in MVP voting will look very very odd when going back to this season and looking at the stats
Messi in 2018 vibes
Looks like he’s back to his best self recently?
His wrist is still injured so his 3pt (and 2p for that matter) shooting isn’t back yet, but he’s looking better by the day.
Nahhh, his touch and shooting within the perimeter is back up to usual Jokic levels. It’s just his three point shooting that’s still off which is a tiny bit concerning, but if every one is healthy for the playoffs, it shouldn’t be too much of a problem.
Ive been hearing he might do surgery, after this season, for it so here’s hoping it’ll help
The crazy thing is his touch is still off around the basket, and his 3 point shooting is noticeably off as well. Even this game I think he could’ve played quite a bit better which is absurd to say but true for his standards
His above the break and wing 3s still look like FlightReacts is shooting the ball but other than that things are looking good again
He’s still not as confident when scoring imo
Not really his three balls not back and he is refusing to shoot and post up at the moment.
To be honest these are regular Jokic numbers we just got too spoiled.
We are watching the greatest era of the NBA ever.
I’m historically a bit of a Jokic hater for Reasons (though I’ve reverted to just appreciating greatness, like with Steph), but those are just truly insane numbers. Dude is a savant.
get over it lol, don’t tell me it’s from 2019 until now
No tbh you gotta respect hating for a reason. That ain’t hating greatness, it’s personal and powerful
yeah i was hating before cause the nuggets owned my team. years ago i realized what a player he is and now i can just appreciate what a monster he is, cause he truly is. you are lucky to have him on your team. any player who is good enough to warrant having haters is a compliment to them.
You’re a real one for that. I got a lotta respect for this iteration of the Blazers too, Clingan especially is a beast who is still flying under the radar.
He is sort of an enigma to me as someone old enough to remember charlotte (my home town) getting a team. It is just crazy to see someone his build hitting 3s and collecting rebounds at the clip he does. I don’t have the fortune of living there anymore, but portland is a great city and deserves a great team and i hope they can continue to trend upwards
Even though we’ve seen shooting bigs become way more prevalent these days, it’s still so damn weird and jarring to see someone like Clingan sink 3 in a row from deep. Blazers will hopefully be a playoff team next year when Dame returns, at least. They got a bright future.
yeah its one thing to see like Bam hit a 3 but I will probably never get used to seeing a dude like Clingon who is built like a brick wall hit a 3 hahaha. it just looks so crazy to me watching basketball like the kobe-shaq lakers during my formative years
i literally said its been reverted, can you read? not by today, years ago i just decided to appreciate it. dumbass. i was just acknowledging that myself as someone who hated on him in the past have grown past that to just appreciating what he does you slobbering simpleton
cool dude finally you learn
Everyone hates Jokic as a fantasy player other than the person who gets him hahaha
2 rebounds and 4 assists shy of four (4!) triple doubles in two back-to-back games.
why have two fanbases wanting to kill each other over a trophy when you can have four?
best part, every one of those four have a damn great argument to win it and their reasons are all very different from one another.
I’m putting games from all four of these teams on my calendar so I know when to maximize toxicity
despite who wins mvp (sga im guessing) the western conference playoffs boutta be toxic as hell i cant wait
I’m getting banned from this sub after our first game with the Lakers in about a week regardless of outcome XD
Sharing the wealth!
He’s the most valuable player in the league. Just because OKC has 7 great players helping SGA doesn’t change that fact
Jamal Murray just dropped 53, probably not the best day to downplay Jokic’s supporting cast
I mean, we both know what I’m talking about.
You are saying this in a game where his teammate scored 53 points. The nuggets have a great team.
Where were the 7 great players tonight for OKC? Murray. had 55 tonight and they have a winning record without Jokic and you’re trying to say SGA has too much help? ffs jokic fans are insufferable
so you think there is only 1 guy on the Thunder helping him…lol
No one said that, my point was bitching about SGAs supporting cast the same night Jokic’s teammate scored 50 is just illogical.
Looking at the league through the prizm of one game is illogical
Ok, that’s one game. Are you playing dumb or have you not been watching the NBA for the last two years?
dude nobody with straight face can say nuggets without jokic are better team than okc without shai. both guys are all time greats but shai has a bit better team
It’s Luka - SGA - Wemby - Jokic. Jokic is by far the worst defender out of the bunch and there is a gameplan to shut his water off especially in playoffs which has worked numerous times.
Oh look it’s DogshitTake952
lol
Lmao work numerous times? Give us examples … jesus
If you value defense so much ordering the other three Luka-SGA-Wemby makes zero sense
You want your MVPs to be two way players like…. Luka?
and thats called just your biased opinion. ring….fool.
That’s why Jokic only won a ring against. Injured 8 seed heat team. Whilst being surrounded by one of the best supporting casts in the league for years lol. Luka and SGA have better resumes in terms of beating better teams and are younger.
Congrats to Luka on the “beat a better team” award
Another hypothetical award for Luka
Ha. Lol. Lmao. Rofl even.
How can one take have multiple layers of contradictions within itself. Truly a Redditor moment.
Conflating team success with player success champ here
Luka’s fourth by a mile
Wrong

Just give it me instead. Thanks in advance
I don’t know how he’s fallen down so far on the MVP ranking. This is such a travesty, nobody even comes close with these insane numbers.
How the hell did a small country of 6.5m manage to develop two sportsmen of the cailber of Nikola Jokic and Novak Djokovic in the same generation? And both are nicknamed Joker….
36 AST
Excuse me, what the fuck?
The 3 turnovers is maybe the most absurd number in that stat line. Tonight he had 1 TOV which only came in the 4th
Yea, with 60 seconds left. I think he was trying to force the pass to Murray for Murray’s career high and his 20/20/20. Bummer Cooper broke it up.
Luka could never
I can’t with this MVP race. Shai is so consistent it’s becoming “normal” to be that good, Jokic is pulling out insane numbers like it was nothing (wdym 36 AST vs 3 TOV over 24h), Wemby is showing 2K is more realistic than whatever he’s doing and Luka is being Luka.
At this point being 2nd should gives you an award.
Is that good?
They said he was past his prime
55 boards 55 dimes 55 baskets 55 screens…
4th in the MVP ladder btw. Can you imagine how good the other 3 guys above him are?
For nip
Top 5 in the NBA right now are so so good. Love to see it, Jokic is amazing
SGA is still better as proven by their head to head.
They keep having close games with tanking teams. Jokic without fail is scoring like less then 10 points in the first half which is contributing to it. Does anyone have data on Jokic in first halfs? He seems to get hard in second half’s when defenders are more tired.
Unlike Luka he dislikes blowing his load in the first quarter. Usually likes to get his teammates going first, similar to Lebron.
He is passing a lot. And tbh every Nugget’s possession ends after a Jokic pass so I’m not surprised about his assist numbers and I don’t know if they mean much. The defense is also pretty bad.
how many points given up on defense? Because giving up 130+ to this current mavs team is a crime.
Nuggets fans downvoting but if you watched the game, coop and old man kris middleton were just cooking this awful nuggets paint defense (led by their center)
With those refs he would have fouled out in the second quarter playing any kind of rim defense
you’re right, cooper flagg could never shoot over 50% against a team with even an average defensive center
it isn’t a coincidence that coop has had his best games this season against Jokic.
Cooper Flagg has averaged 22.3 points, 6.5 rebounds and 4.8 assists in 4 games versus the Nuggets in his career.
For comparison: against good centers (because coop can’t shoot right now so most of his shots are layups/floaters)
Cooper Flagg has averaged 15.0 points, 2.0 assists and 1.0 rebound in 1 game against the Timberwolves in his career.
Cooper Flagg has averaged 18.7 points, 6.7 rebounds and 2.7 assists in 3 games versus the Spurs in his career.
You can’t use a 1 game sample size as a comparison
He’s +10 in a closer game. 5 fouls on Jokic and 27 on the team, including Braun fouled out and Spencer Jones in foul trouble. That’s both of their healthy point of attack guys.
Idgaf what you think of his defense. He’s +459 on the court this season, which is just over +8 per game. Even the league’s 2nd best team margin is +7.8 (spurs).
Great answer tbh. I also think his net swing is the highest in the league as Nuggets are in the negative when he sits.
Those were all on Jokic, obviously.
They got back to Denver at like 3am this morning. I think we can let this slide.
