[Highlight] Jaylen Brown gets to the rim and finishes with the layup to seal the win for Boston. Brown finishes with 31 points as the Celtics snap the Thunder’s 12-game win streak.
His progression year-to-year has been insane. This was one of 5 moves he made tonight that he legit couldn’t do two years ago.
As a Celtics fan, this is easily jaylens best attribute. What ever he’s shit at, he improves it. 23efc every one clowns him for his handel, next year his handel is improved. Last year felt like we lost several close games due to his FT. This year shoot career high fta and ft%
I have been watching him since draft day and he has consistently trained his free throws. It’s just a mechanism that he needed to unlock, muscle memory. He used to front rim them a lot. This years certainly been a huge leap.
He has a hitch just before release on FTs that wrecks his shot. His regular jumper is one smooth motion. He needs to spend summer with Brent Barry and just learn to relax.
Now he just needs to have a go to efficient move. He has the pull-up and turnaround midrange and some times it’s money and some times it’s inefficient. If he can consistently hit that, that’s the only thing that’s holding him back from superstar level.
I mean his efficient move is driving the the basket.
Handle
Take that Bach
Ode to Jay
Explode to the Rach(maninoff)
He gets better every year, truly an anime main character.
Super Jaiylan
Is he better than Tatum? I know it’s hard to judge since Tatum was hurt this year but he’s been really really good.
Let’s just say they’re present Goku and Vegeta. Both are really good, and which one is better will always be up for debate. I mean, even as lawyer that argue for a living, that’s an argument I don’t like to participate in to and I just enjoy that the team has both talented forwards/wing.
Let’s just say they’re present Goku and Vegeta. Both are really good, and which one is better will always be up for debate.
Goku is stronger than Vegeta. Vegeta only “beat” Goku because he went Great Ape their first fight and he only “beat” Goku in their second fight because Goku thought they’d team up to fight Bu.
Wait, I’m on a basketball sub…
Historically that has fit their dynamic though.
Tatum is the face of the franchise and generally the better player (aka Goku).
But Brown is constantly challenging his position and always making it a conversation (aka Vegeta).
You can be comfortable with either taking the lead role, even though you know one will take that role slightly more often.
Forgot which Arc it was but Vegeta beat Goku in Beerus planet. They’re equal now, at least the last time I read about the lore of Dragon Ball.
I never watched Super, just DBZ as a kid. I think Vegeta surpassing Goku, or equaling him, kinda undercuts Vegeta’s growth as a character. His arc really revolves around catching Goku since Goku was the first to beat him. But by the end of DBZ he realizes he can’t catch Goku, and he has let go of his pride and is fine with that. It’s pretty much the culmination of his arc.
Even as a Judge, I have to rule that Brown indeed is better now.
This is one of those things where I really don’t care I’m just happy to have both of them.
But to indulge: Peak? Tatum. This season? Brown for sure.
No, I don’t think so. But it’s fucking crazy he’s made it an actual question.
Brown has had efficiency issues but he’s definitely been neck and neck with Tatum’s best regular season play this year. And he was doing it without the gravity of Tatum the whole season as well
Tatum does the same thing though. They’re both unusual in the way they’re constantly improving.
For example:
Tatum has had 8 straight years where his APG increased. This will be the first time his streak is broken and it’s only because of an Achilles injury, and tbh his passing has looked fantastic.
Brown’s APG increased 8 times in 10 years. When you look at those 2 years, 1 involved him being injured a lot to start the season (which tanked his role/numbers) and the other involved him taking a big leap as a scorer.
Those offseasons with McGrady really showed up this season. Plus actually being healthy. JB slumped last year because he had hammy issues and later the torn meniscus. Never got to get into rhythm
His handle is smoother, his mid range is money. His playmaking has taken the next step as well.
It seems like every off season he picks one of his weaknesses and puts an insane amount of work into improving it.
Everytime I think JB hit his ceiling, he proves me wrong. I love it
I’m the opposite. I was always arguing that people were dumb to put a celling on him. He clearly had the athletic gifts and mind set to be great. That was until he got the super max, then I was like “oof, that may be too much money.” I’m happy I was wrong. Then, when people were doubting the Celtics this season, I picked them 3rd in the east. I knew they would play hard and smart and that Brown would come out with something to prove.
And somehow, they have been even better than I expected. (I was wrong about the cavs and Knicks being 1 & 2 in the east).
Comparing rookie JB to him rn. The progression is insane…
If Jaylen does win MVP, everyone has to respect it.
Feels like whoever wins this year is going to carry a 65 game asterisk
It’s so awesome to watch. Feels like he picks one or 2 things every off season to get better at and as result he’s improved every year. Trust the process?
He had one early in the game, in and out dribble blowing by SGA, Caruso, then finishing against Holmgren at the rim. Wild.
As of the Warriors finals, he legit could barely dribble with his left hand, much less actually do useful shit with it
JAYLEN BROWN WILL BONE YOU
Big ting.
THESE ARE DOGS
According to /NBA and /BillSimmons stat nerds, JB shouldn’t have even suited up for this game. I’m confused though - it looks like JB can play defense and it looks like JB was the best player on the court.
lol this subreddit is a terrible place to discuss actual basketball, 90% of the front page is the Lakers beating the worst team in the East meanwhile highlights from a 1 seed vs 2 seed battle has 100 comments
But LeBron pointed to the ground after 2 guys bumped into each other, that’s more important /s
It’s more Laker fans glazing Luka these days, LeBron seems more underrated these days.
You mean after LeBron BODIED those guys… telepathically
He looked awesome today.
Ain’t bill a Celtic Stan? Why would h is followers hate jb 😵💫
Bill’s followers hate the Celtics and their players. They are masochists - despite all of this, they tune in anyways so that they can complain about his “irrational” takes.
The Celtics have a better on/off with Jaylen on the bench so the ringer guys like to act like that means they’re better without him at times.
Simmons and the ringer guys have been praising JB all year long wtf are you talking about.
Zach Lowe said Jaylen isn’t an mvp candidate because the Celtics are technically better when he’s on the bench.
It was more of a joke statement than anything. Like the main comment this is under.
HALIBAN WE GOT YOUR BACK, PUT THE KNICKS, SGA, and dirty DORT TO SHAME
Celtics Pacers bromance is kinda funny ngl I like it
The Larry Legend connection and Tatum/Hali being good friends is sweet. Also the fact that they gave the Cs a run for their money that entire playoff series without Hali.
Also the fact that they gave the Cs a run for their money that entire playoff series without Hali.
I think this is where the respect comes from. Despite it being a sweep, in three of the four games the Pacers could have come out on top. They fought as hard as possible and gave one of the best Celtics teams of all time a run for their money.
I just remember when power rankings would come out and the Pacers wouldn’t be in the top four or something and every Celtics fan in r/BostonCeltics would be pissed. And pretty much every Celtics fan said the Pacers were being disrespected going into the playoffs last year.
They might have been the only team Boston swept but they were also the only team to play Boston for an entire series.
The other teams kinda showed out for their 1 game and then hung their “didn’t get swept” banners. Indiana fought almost every single game and had the lowest point differential in their losses.
All our players and coaches talked about them being Boston’s toughest matchup, and Celtics fans took a lot of heat online for defending the Pacers’ performance.
You are a grown man
were just making assumptions now?
Oh sorry are there kids here? I really hope not lol
Why don’t you like whimsy
Oklahoma
Give me 7 games of this
How many free throws would that be tho
This match up with a playoff whistle would hit like crack
[Stack overflow error] amount of free throws
Yes please. Where the refs tighten their whistle? Oh my god.
MVP
He’s fighting for first team all nba
So would Shai if he got JB’s whistle
Shai takes 1.6 free throws more than JB a game I promise you he’d still be an MVP with one less foul a game
You clearly didn’t watch the game I guess
Whistle looked pretty good tonight
Justifiably so. All of those were actually fouls. Can’t say the same for a few okc calls
God you guys are insufferable. Brown was just constantly complaining and foul baiting. If you think Shai does it, but only JB’s were legit, you’re too much of a homer.
Nah man, JB was actually just fucking balling tonight. I’ll admit he’s been complaining a lot lately but he was just making buckets and getting fouled this game. SGA was getting calls from literally not being touched.
SGA was complaining constantly, plus he was flopping like a bitch
Could say the same for FTA.
Nah SGA has an easier schedule, plus JB is a legend of the game, he can’t retire without an MVP, it wouldn’t be fair
SGA even rhymes with Drake Maye! (kinda)
So he’ll be 2nd in MVP voting!
I love how he got SGA holding hands with Cason Wallace
Just saw that lol wth
Pffft can’t even beat the MVP front runner, Jaylen Brown. /s
Michael Wilbon out there somewhere smoking his cigar and sipping that wine.
Anyone that watched that game should be disgusted. It had a great flow, then the refs clogged the toilet for the entire 2nd half. Horrible sport when it turns into nothing but a ft parade.
It was way more fun when the refs were allowing a little bit more contact, but this was honestly one of the better reffed games I’ve seen in a long time. Seemed like a pretty evenly called game to me, and that’s been rare in my experience for long stretches this season.
time for the SGA campaign to unvote his MVP!
So many crying okc fans in this sub. Ahhh satisfying.
Sga is a fraud, go Celtics!!
FTA got shown levels today
Lmfao even if you just looked at the box score you’d see Shai had a much better game than anyone on the floor.
If you watched the game you’d see 8 of his FTA came from him flailing his body on the ground and whining to the refs for a call
And JB’s free throws are ethical
He doesn’t flop. In your heart you know he doesn’t.
The ones who bitch the most always flop the most.
That’s exactly why people hate watching the thunder
Which Thunder player bitches like JB in game? Because off the court JB takes the cake. No comparison lol
There’s an okc player with their arms up after every single play
Vs no there isn’t
SGA would sit on the court holding his hands up after falling over on his own for 5 minutes if it wouldn’t get him a delay of game tech
Can’t answer the question? Shame lol
I watched Jaylen Brown do much worse and cry like a lil bitch about it the whole game.
Deflecting to other players in response to criticism doesn’t make for a convincing argument. I’m not in here glazing JB for flopping his way to a W.
Your free throw merchant is a lot more merchanty than ours, so glass houses maybe applies here!
Nah it’s a pretty valid argument here
I’m loving the anger lol so shamelessly hypocritical
Objectively incorrect
SGA 33, 2, 8
JB 31, 8, 8
JT 19, 12, 7
They all had great games. In what fucked up thunder universe is 33-2-8 clearly better than 31-8-8? None brother 🤪. Get a grip, you lost a good game. Take it like a big boy. And 6-7 SGA points were grifting. You know it. I know it. We all fucking know it.
9⁄17 5 TOs, vs 10⁄12 2 TOs. SGA’s team failed him on too many open shots. Way better game overall.
U are coping so hard
Oh the loss is upsetting, but it’s cope to say Shai had the best game?
I’m a celtics fan and all, but I think it was clear Shai was just better in this game. The shots he was getting and hitting were at another level. The Brown MVP chants were fun though.
SGA’s mid range shot making was better. He’s lethal. But that’s no secret, and that’s not the whole game. There’s a lot more in the overall better game. JB closed this game and showed out. It’s not “clear” at all faux fan.
i thought box score doesn’t mean everything. that’s usually what thunder fans say when they compare jokic to shai, cuz jokic has some of the best box scores ever yet he’s not better than shai right
I didn’t say shit, also was saying that if you took either one, the game or the box score, it was clear he had the best game.
Reading comprehension: 0
But he lost
Lmfao his team lost yes it don’t matter, whoever makes it out the west is winning it all anyways.
Is he not part of his team?
For sure
SGA was +1 is that good??
That’s a stat skewed by team performance
SGA is not gonna let you hit lil bro
Damn that sucks, I’m glad Luka let you. Happy for you.
Don’t do too much or they will unleash dort on you
In 5-10 years Bill Simmons is going to be on a podcast talking about how “that 2026 Celtics team should’ve been the champion because they really took it to the Thunder towards the end of the year.. and they had MVP Shai!”
Source: A recent podcast where he said the 2002 Celtics with Pierce and ANTOINE WALKER could’ve given the Lakers a run for their money had they got past whoever in the East.
Man, love that guy.
Bro they literally were making jokes during that segment of how crazy they were getting with the takes.
He may or may not win MVP, but regardless the outcome, I’m just happy he’s getting the love and recognition for his play.
Beat a faster cason wallace on the perimeter with ease.
Good guy Celtics
JAYLEN MVP
MVP.

Really? Give him the mvp asap
Oh fr? I love this guy
All the more reason for him to be my favourite player, fuck the IDF
This comment only works on twitter, not on real human beings
Right , like nobody gives a shit
Grok, put this guy in a bikini
Free Palestine does not equal Pro Hamas. If you don’t get that, that’s why people don’t like you. Stupid fuck.
Of course the official Reddit account is posting one of their players just blatantly elbowing someone in the face to score AND THEN TELLING THE REF SOMEONE HIT YOUR ELBOW. Classic NBA basketball. Never change.
That’s why you shouldn’t try to defend with your face. It should have been an and-1. I’ve seen this exact play happen dozens of times, and if your elbow is making a natural shooting motion and someone’s face is in the way, that’s a shooting foul buddy.
Absolutely smacked Shai in the face there
Poor baby
Deserved
Lmao look at what SGA does to you
Dort literally made Paul George’s knee go backwards on purpose
Thunder fans think that’s just basketball
Warriors fan saying something? Basketball terrorism the team? Saying something?
Yes I am saying something… illegal screens are not the same as attempting to end careers.
Draymond. Draymond. Draymond. Draymond. Draymond. Draymond. Draymond. Draymond. You didn’t even think to mention Draymond.
Draymond’s gotten into a bunch of fights, yes, but when does he deliberately try and injure someone? If anything you could have a better argument if you mentioned Zaza.
You guys live on a different planet. But that’s okay. So do I.
He makes me leave a comment saying “deserved”
You tried that comment like 3 times. I’m glad you finally got the words you wanted
Thanks. Im high, things are difficult rn
There was most likely zero contact and he sold it as if there was, like almost every time he shot the ball down the stretch.
And dirty Dort smacks everyone
Go ahead and cry son, it’s alright
Good
