Jokic tonight: 23 PTS | 17 REB | 17 AST | 9-16 FG | 2 TOV
https://www.espn.com/nba/boxscore/_/gameId/401810905
Nuggets win vs Suns 125-123
His cleanest passing game since the break
Not many dumb choices he’s been plagued with lately
The fact that Jokic’s post-injury play is seen as garbage shows how insanely high his standards are
He’s averaging 26/13/10 on 62.6% TS which still puts him as at absolute worst the 4th best player in the league over this span (and still top 3 on offense) but 62.6% TS is unironically Jalen Green level efficiency by Jokic standards which is still the highest of the 6 centers to average 20 PPG this season
Even turnovers which have been the real negative for him he’s averaging 10.3 APG to 4.3 turnovers which is a better ratio than an elite playmaker like Luka has for the season at 8.4 APG to 4.0 turnovers
Jaylen Brown will never have a 25 game-span this good in his life and there was this big post today about how an actual MVP voter plans to vote for Brown over SGA Jokic Luka and Wemby
I think it has less to do with his standards and more to do with the level he had reached before the injury was so insanely high it wouldn’t be unreasonable to call it the greatest offensive stretch of basketball we have ever seen.
29-30 pgg on 72-74% TS% 10-12 assist per game, varying depend on when you looked during the season.
he was more efficient relative to the field than Steph curry was in the 15-16 season, it was simply insane.
He is still playing great, but he is no longer shooting it nearly as well as before and this Jokic is beatable where I’m not sure the other version of him was.
Wasn’t it November I think where he was putting up 32/12/12 on 65% fg and 53% from three. Clearly unsustainable numbers. Jokic is still playing phenomenal lol
Yeah he has had several just SILLY months this year, and even looking at the entire portion preinjury it was just felt like 2k numbers.
He basically went from what felt like a 2k player to one of the best 3 players on the planet.
I really think that Jokic is still the best player in the league, it’s just that the supporting cast is so aggressively mid that it’s hurting him on both ends of the floor. The man is arguably the most complete offensive player in history and at the very least neutral on defense.
I think so as well. But now that his shooting has come back to earth it’s not nearly as undeniable.
His team is actually really well put together this year, they have just had so many injuries this year.
I think it’s the wrist catching up to him more than the shooting coming back down to earth. He has a large enough sample of being a 40% shooter from 3 over the last two seasons. The mechanic is just fucked for now, he has a weird motion but when he’s shooting it well it’s always smooth transition to the follow through. There’s just a hitch/jerk at the top now, like he has to actually propel the shot forward. He’s just given up on taking a high volume of 3s like the beginning of the season this past week. That’ll change the balance of the playoffs for sure, let’s see if they find a workaround with maybe Cam firing more right off the handoff. CB also needs to up his volume by a lot.
I wouldn’t exactly call 62%TS while averaging a triple double to be “back to earth” but I see your point.
Injuries have hurt them, but at this point they’re only missing Watson and have still been slipping quite a bit. That said, the roster may have just missed out on playing as a complete unit and are struggling now when other teams have built chemistry over the season, but the point still stands that the supporting cast just doesn’t contribute to a well structured offense or defense around Jokic.
Jokic Peak is arguably better than Lebron’s all time peak and that’s just insane to think about. but according to all the stats and even the advanced stats, that’s what it is
Jokic is compared to the standards set for himself, because when he doesn’t meet those, his team is less successful. Even if those standards are better than 99% of the history of the NBA, players of his caliber aren’t compared to that.
It was more the turnovers, defence and general uncharacteristic errors that had people talking down on him than the numbers. Very few superstars aren’t going to get big box scores the vast majority of the time, but when they’re playing relatively poorly it’s pretty apparent watching them. Not a Jokic-exclusive issue at all.
Its not about the stats he puts up, its about his body language after returning to injury. At times he straight up refused to post up and just played behind the 3pt line, sometimes hes straight up passive and just passes the ball as soon as he receives it. I think he was not really into form when he came back and he just played himself to shape. I mean look at him now, hes visibly slimmer than when he returned from injury, and he is back to moving like the MVP caliber player that he is
He was in injury management mode and is slowly leaving it as the playoffs near…
Yup. He’s set the standard so high
Meanwhile, I’ve lowered the expectations people in my life have on me to the point that even basic competency is seen as praiseworthy
So who’s looking smart now, Nikola???
how is he 4th? who’s above him this past month in your opinion?
these four? 1. Luka / 2. Wemby / 3. Jokic / 4. SGA
Kawhi is up there with these 4 this past month atleast
https://www.basketball-reference.com/friv/last_n_days.fcgi?n=25&type=per_game
no way jalen green has 62% ts for the year wont even bother checking it
EDIT-nvm,u compared it to jalen green efficiency, nvm
Who called Joker garbage post injury lmao. Y’all just make up stuff to sound vindicated.
Becasue Jokic in this 25 game-span has a record of 13-12, and Nuggets without Jokic has a record of 10-6. Like are you seriously confused about this?
You know the teams Nuggets played in that stretch?
Wins: Raptors, 76ers, Bucks (x2), Pelicans, Mavs, Wizards (x2), and Nets Losses: Cavs, Nets, Hawks, Lakers, Hornets, and Pistons.
Being able to consistently beat bad teams is not something every team can do.
While we are here, even with Jokic playing, they still lost to Mavs, Kings, Grizzles and Warriors without Curry, Butler, Draymond.
41/15/15 32/21/22 23/17/17
All of them vs SUNS
Also had 53 and 11 assists and 30/17/17 against them in the playoffs lmao
Had 35/11/11 on 100% shooting Ayton’s rookie year, too
SONS*
Fat euros always go off against the suns, fluka too
and your mom
jebem ti mater bratha 🤬🤬🤬
Yes, it appears that undersized 2nd round pick, and third year player Oso Ighodaro is no match for one of the greatest centers to ever play the game. 🤷♂️
We also can’t stop Zubac, or Steven Adams. When Mark Williams is healthy it’s a little better, but not by much. Basically we suck against huge white foreign guys.
nikola jokic is devin booker father
Man.. Luka, Jokic, Giannis…. International players OWN the Suns lol
International players own the NBA. Go back to your circlejerk
Players in the MVP race play amazing is an ice cold take.
Don’t forget Wemby! Suns are such ass!
Jokic passes Wilt with his 3rd 20/17/17 game in his career, the most in NBA history. Wilt and Jokic are the only guys to ever have more than a single 20/17/17 game.
All players with a 20/17/17 game: Jokic, Wilt, Westbrook, Robertson, Magic, Giannis, and… Guy Rodgers.
My ball knowledge isn’t AMAZING but damn I had no idea who Guy Rodgers was. 4x All Star. Neat.
in 50 years people will probably react similarly to Bam
Nah, he has the modern record of most points scored in a game.
However, people will react like that to someone like Deron Williams or DeMar DeRozan
Is that a real person??
He was some guy
He was Mr Rogers
Surprised Bron never had it
Not that surprising. LeBron was a good rebounder throughout his career but not a perennial double double pts+rebounds guy, though I did discover while double checking before posting this and he does have a career high of 20 rebounds in a game.
I’m more surprised Harden never had one
Brick kinda taints this stat ngl
you don’t know ball
ITs sO abItRArY!
jokic’s ideal statline
More like 13/23/23
More like 2/14/27
He’s really looking forward to the next Valentine’s Day?
That’s the day his new horses arrive
Valentine’s Day next year maybe :)
That’s Draymond
More like 2/20/47
I feel like the ideal statline for Jokic would be to have 4 points.
A foul-baiting 3-points heave, that he accidentally makes, and he also gets the +1. Then he retires at the end of the game *my work here is done. There’s nothing more I can accomplish*
It’s really quite insane that I see that stat line and all I think is “oh, Joker had a good game.” Anyone has that line 15 years ago and we’re talking about it for weeks. In 2026, it’s just a normal Tuesday.
anyone not named jokic has that stat line in 2026 and we’re talking about it for weeks
Proof that the NBA is better and more skilled now
You know at the other end of ever turnover is someone playing worse right?
Pace is a lot faster, shooting 3’s is central to the game now, not as physical anymore, etc. which all leads to higher scoring games and higher scoring players
It’s not just skill, there is a lot of reasons why stats are so inflated in the nba today
Idk if this is a hot take now but I still have Jokic above Luka for overall play this season with his post-injury slump only hurting his case compared to SGA it’s just that Jokic’s best stretch of the year was so long ago that nobody remembers it anymore he was averaging like 31/12/11 on 72% TS in November
I think the extra efficiency Jokic gives you by being the one unique player who can create so much offense as a 7 footer is more valuable than the extra volume that Luka can give you being a guard
Any impact metric will tell you this as well generational efficiency/good volume (prime Curry/Jokic) is even better to build around than generational volume/good efficiency (prime Harden/Luka)
Nuggets have also been arguably the most injured team I don’t think the “but Jokic has a better supporting cast and is 1 game behind” argument is so strong when they actually do have an elite record when they use an elite starting 5 and have tanked their seeding only when guys like Gordon can’t play
Agree but doncic had a crazy 2 weeks lol
Jokic had an incredible 32 games pre injury.
30 ppg, with a triple double, on 72% TS%.
For context - highest ppg on 70+% TS was 16.
He doubled that and averaged a triple double to boot.
And he was trending upwards (74 TS% final 5 games before injury).
Absolutely monstrous 2 weeks
60 piece on a road back to back after obliterating Houston was extraordinary.
Luka has obviously been absolutely insane recently, but if you swap the timeline and put Luka’s last few weeks at the beginning of the season, and Jokic’s November stats into the last month, the narrative would be completely different. Which is I think the argument they are making. Games in November matter the exact same as games in March, but they dont when it comes to the MVP narrative.
I don’t think you’re wrong. These are such normal numbers for Jokic that fans have become numb to it at this point.
It’s all standing based at this point for them 2
I have Luka ahead of Jokic but the standings fetish with mvp voters is dumb. Especially if it’s a small gap
It’s actually crazy to me how people are saying that anything other than Luka mvp means the league is rigged.
Seems like a clear third imo, 1. SGA / 2. Jokic / 3. Luka / 4. Wemby
SGA and Jokic are close together and somewhat above Luka and Wemby, who are close as well.
What does this post have to do with Luka
Nothing, bro’s tryna have a discussion man…
Why you act like Lakers aren’t injured lol. Both Lebron and Reaves missed 20 -ish games and everyone agreed Lakers are an extremely top-heavy team.
Also Lakers are 40-20 with Luka playing and Jokic is 35-22 with Jokic playing.
Also also, can Jokic fans stop moving goalposts and everything? What exactly happened 2 years ago? That time Luka had a very injured roster with mid-season trades so their record suffered, yet Jokic fans act like Jokic still deserves that mvp? You don’t get to do it.
Nuggets have had for 1-4 starters playing only in most of those games And mostly just 2 . I doubt Luka can claim the same.
Weren’t you guys all raving about your deep roster when the season starts? Weren’t most people shitting on Ayton signing since the start and were still shitting on him not too long ago? You act like starters means something when on Lakers it’s been rotating between two buy-out players and Rui Hachimara lol, and Rui sucked at being a starter.
Also don’t act like Jamal Murray didn’t play far more games than anyone lol. Unless you think Lebron or Reaves is better than Murray, don’t try to argue Lakers suddenly have a better situation.
Absurd.
It’s insane how much he’s normalised this wizardry. Anyone else gets a stat line like this it’s a career highlight
you average even half of this and you’re getting NBA contracts until your knees explode.
and that’s overstating it, most teams would give you contracts until your knees explode if you had 8 apg OR rpg plus 11 ppg, never mind both
Just a casual triple double and only 2 TO damnn
Couldn’t get 20/20/20? SMH!
Da Jok
I typically prefer to ultra athletic, explosive and hyper bouncy players, but Jokic is my favorite current player to watch despite the fact that he is the absolute opposite lol.
Crazy to think he might finish 4th in MVP voting.
Injury moment. Plus he had a couple bad weeks.
And if he had those bad couple of weeks in December literally nobody would give a shit lol
I said this before but it’s such a lucky time to be a fan of basketball.
4 players that all deserve the “once in a generation” title.
AND the game winner
SGA might be the MVP, but Jokic is still the best player in the NBA.
Strong LeBronto energy when Jokic plays the Suns, he balls the fuck out against them
anyone ELSE gets this kind of statline with the efficiency and it would be literally talked about for a month… just unreal and unfair how people get insensitised to this all time level greatness
This guy is unreal. Hes gonna get robbed again. Guarantee it
He had a great game but overall he’s been worse than Shai this season and Denver is 12.5 games behind OKC. Jokic is not getting robbed of anything and is probably going to finish 4th in voting.
You guarantee it because you know fucking well that other players deserve it over him.
“Guarantee it” saying it like you tryna pretend voters are evil wanting to steal his bread.
“Guarantee it” I wonder why you’re so damn sure he’s not gonna win it.
yeah it’s SGA this year, it’s crazy that people are talking about Luka or Wemby though, they don’t deserve it at all
GUARANTEED!!!!
It’s not a robbery lmao he’s not the MVP simple as. you stans need to get off your knees for him. no he doesn’t deserve 7 MVPs in a row or whatever the fuck it is
4 maybe 5 bruh. 7 is crazy. You’re crazy man, you’re crazy, I like you, but you’re crazy
He literally didn’t even try to shoot until crunch time. I don’t really get why he was so uninterested in taking shots but it barely worked out, so I guess that’s ok?
way too passive at times. a better team than the suns punishes you hard for it
Off night
Luka could never
Still so crazy seeing a stat line like this
I was at the game. Dude was the man in the arena
Best in the world until Wemby knocks him off
Below his scoring average, the assist and rebounding numbers are absurd.
Insane
That there is a National TV Rondo stat line
I remember when he had 2 points and like 28 assists lol
Guys I think Jokic might be the MVP (until Shai, Wemby or Luka have another good game)
And the game winner too, damn.
All that and its a two-point win.
How bad are the Nuggets?
Suns shot really well tonight and the last 3 mins were super messy with free throws both ways
The Suns are pretty good
Booker was cooking them all night
Love his game!
I couldn’t watch the game tonight, but honestly I’m so used to Jokic putting up the most absurd stat lines against the Suns that when I saw the box score I thought to myself, “only 23-17-17?!”
he’s still the best player and we’re just desensitized
Absurd player, he plays like he knows he’s the mvp
He always farms the Suns for these kinda statlines…
Not an MVP candidate
My mvp (aside from luka ofc)
Based
it’s ok your daddy Shai forgives you for being so disrespectful
Should be 2nd in MVP only behind Shai, ridiculous how his season is getting underrated because the media keeps looking for new flavor of the week with Luka, Wemby and Jaylen Brown.
