[Highlight] LaMelo Ball shows off the handles before hitting the step back one legged 3-pointer.
Man hoops like he’s in the backyard.
He may have left Chino Hills, but Chino Hills never left him
Had anyone outside of California heard of chino hills before ?
I’m from Toronto, Canada bro 😭
Lmao
You’ll never convince me that double step back isn’t a travel.
Don’t you mean the double gather step?
I was fine with how the NBA officiated traveling for years when it was basically “the same rule every other organized basketball league from elementary school on up uses, but you can take an extra step if it looks cool or you’re a big enough star.”
The whole redefinition of a gather and players taking five or six steps after their final dribble because they haven’t technically “gathered” yet is so dumb. Especially considering the NBA also doesn’t enforce anything like a traditional carry rule, so players can effectively end their dribble multiple times, walk as much as they want, and then finally “gather” and take multiple more steps and it’s fine. It’s just asinine.
And the moves it enables like this don’t even look cool.
I can respect that, but dislike how people (not necessarily you) come out in droves when it’s LaMelo. So many players manipulate gathers, it’s part of the game. But LaMelo draws so much negativity that people can’t even recognize how well he’s been playing. And he deserves some shine this year. This team would be a top 4 pick without him.
Why is there so much focus on the 1st stepback when the dude can dribble out of it? Like how can this possibly always be a travel when all the player has to do is lift 1 leg after the 1st stepback and they can legally perform a hop step?
Instead of calling it a double step back, call it a stepback into a backwards hop step. You see similar combinations of moves all the time when players are moving forwards. The direction makes it look abnormal, but it shouldn’t matter.
I saw an old video of him and Lonzo playing and I think Melo developed his crazy off balance shot as it was the only way he could score on Lonzo in 1v1.
He plays like someone who just switched from the shoot button to the stick in 2K.
Funnest player to watch in the league
Been trying out a new nickname:
LaMelo “What is the coolest looking shit I can do with this basketball right now” Ball
Could revise to: LaMelo “What is the coolest shit I can do with this basket” Ball
Lamelo “Fuck it we” Ball
Oh good suggestion
LaMelo “What kind of shot is that? Have you ever shot that shot? When?” Ball
Honestly the most accurate comparison
Love that clip. The passive-aggressive “When?” always gets me.
Gen Z Vince Carter, no I will not elaborate
More like Gen Z white chocolate with CTE
CTE = colorful tattoos everywhere? 🥹
Jason Williams was actually cool, though.
Ew. No
More than Kawhi!?!?!?
most fun btw.
Nah, funnest is accepted in Scrabble
Looks like its not a real word that is used so often its a real word.
Every word is real. There’s not like an official council of word makers lol
There is structure to how we speak. I cant just type aanr0aiuwrfnba9ufba fawbruawb fa gburagh and you think they are words.
That is the least funnest thing anyone has said today
Words convey meaning. If you read “funnest” and understand the meaning, it’s a word
You do realize linguistics are entirely dependent on the people who use them? That’s why we don’t talk like we did 500 years ago.
NO. If a single person uses a word differently than the way in which I know it, then ALL OF SOCIETY IS COLLAPSING AND I AM A NOBLE SCHOLAR AND THE ARBITER OF TRUTH
The snozzberries taste like snozzberries
Did you know 54% of Americans between the ages of 16 and 74, read below the equivalent of a sixth-grade level?
I saw someone spell accident as “acidant” on here recently with a ton of upvotes and came to the conclusion that spell check and people like you are becoming more accepting of poorly written English. Im not even asking for proper commas and apostrophes but the use of a right word lol.
Lavar told us he was going to be the best of his sons lol
That one legged shot is a tribute to his father.
Bruhhhh lmao
I also had “shooting off one leg just like his daddy” lined up.
You sick bastard. I love it
This is how I find out Lavar had his leg amputated lmao
you demon for this 😭
Lmao!!!!!
And Lonzo with his cadaver knees, seems to run in the family
Crazy people couldn’t see the vision
I seriously couldn’t believe it at the time. I hated how lamelo played and I thought Lonzo and liangelo would absolutely be better especially Zo
To be fair lonzos career has been derailed by injuries but yeah Lavar was right
Is that a gather before he takes two steps?
Old school that would be a walk, correct?
They really need to rework the gather step rule. ‘Technically’ he doesnt gather until the last plant on the step back, which is step 0, then he goes one two shot.
Its very annoying to watch as offence players have so many advantages already.
Yup. This move was NOT legal like 10 years ago.
And it’s still not legal in most non-NBA competition.
Legal in FIBA
Yes, thats just travel. It seems now they can take 5 extra steps to get their balance.
There’s like 5 damn steps here.
People used to crucify Harden for taking 3 steps.
This is fking ridiculous. That mfer did the electric slide to his shooting spot.
Well yeah Harden started this then the NBA just went 🤷♂️
Giannis can cross 2⁄3 of the court with one dribble at half court line then layup anything is possible now
It’s funny to watch the game nowadays with the modern gather step leniency. Watching Wemby pick up his dribble from the behind the arc, take the longest stride you’ve ever seen to gather, then two more strides into a dunk is hilarious. With the massive steps and the gather he should hold the ball straight up above his head while he drives to really sell the “high schooler playing against middle schoolers” vibe of his play lol.
Part of the reason I don’t watch games anymore is because of this, moving screens, and carries. I’ll still watch the finals and some highlights, but it just feels like a completely different game now.
I couldn’t agree more!
Felt like a walk to me
at 0:01 that looked like carry to me. so i would say old school that would be a carry + travel
He jumped off both feet and then pulled one leg up.
No he didn’t lmao
Most normal LaMelo shot btw
Travel.
Downvote me, bros
Yeah if I slowed it down, he stutter stepped for like 3 steps then did a step back aka 2 more steps lol
i ain’t gonna downvote you but you gotta admit it was cool ash
Yeah a lot of guys can do cool shit if I’m allowed to do illegal moves. Go back to And1 days
I agree, how are you meant to defend that?
Threeeeeeeee. Cashhhh.
Not by NBA or FIBA rules. He ends the dribble on the right foot plant, then takes his two allotted steps left-right.
Brother what video are you watching, he takes six damn steps after gathering lmfao
I’m just a stick in the mud at this point but, having grown up with 90s NBA, the quiet dissolution of basic rules violations actually being called is something I don’t think I’ll ever get used to.
Egregious travels and blatant carries are now commonplace, but my brain remains hardwired to notice every instance to an exhausting degree.
I know the league puts entertainment ahead of fair play in the modern day, and I’ll still watch, but I won’t like it ;)
Is it too early to call this his signature move? What other psychopath is pulling one legged threes consistently
It is most definitely his signature move
Thank you Hornets for believing in yourself. #1 story of the year
Melo a month or two back did say they’d figure it out and get hot an here we are. I’d love for them to smack a team in round one.
How is this not a travel or gather lol
It’s rule of cool but how can the kings defender even defend it
Every game Lamelo does stuff that would be called unrealistic if added to 2k
My goat
The most “No- no- no- no- yes!” player in the history of the association.
Travel
If he hits one of these to win a playoff series it might be a top moment ever
Sure we won’t stop hearing about it
Is this the modern era version of the Harden multi-step back
Mfer 🔥
Anytime he shoots with one leg it’s a high percentage shot for him…
His shot motion is ridiculously fast
He plays street hoops in the nba
Tuff
So wild that his shooting three mechanic is literally off one leg
This move used to make me sick when I played park on 2k
Textbook LaMelo possession ending in the one legged 3
Kings down by like 30 rn wtf
Step back one legged 3 is the standard LaMelo 3.
buzz buzz
What a goofy silly guy
LaMelo > Magic
Travels just don’t fuckin matter lmao
Harden created one of the most disgusting moves in basketball
I hate hate hate the double jump step back that is legal in today’s game
Only one palming violation in this clip. He’s improving.
he doesn’t play winning basketb- wait a minute
after this game hes going to show off his driving skills before hitting a pedestrian while 1 handing the wheel.
That was an incredibly lazy “closeout”.
Oh. It’s the Kangz. Malik Monk wasn’t even remotely interested in contesting that silly shot form.
Anything against Sacramento, Indiana, Washington ,and sometimes clippers. I don’t take seriously. Like come on bro yall lusting off of midiocore bullshit let’s be real
Thats okay, I actually count highlights against the Kings, Pacers, Wizards, and Clippers as double in order to balance it out
Doesn’t make sense. are trying to hype those teams up? you lost lmao
Upvoted for “midiocore”, at least you tried.
Thank you ☺️
Bro looks like a piece of hairy gum stuck to the wall of a tagged up alleyway
Seems like it’s always the same highlight from melo. Would like to see him expand his game
Expand it how? Just because you only watch his highlights doesn’t mean he doesn’t do lots of other stuff
Ironic coming from a Thunder fan
Careful, they’ll give SGA free throws
