[Highlight] Nick Nurse shouting at the refs (about OKC): “They are NOT perfect. They are not perfect. They foul too! They foul too, though!”
Context for people who aren’t watching the game. Shai got called for his 3rd personal foul in the 1st. OKC challenged and won as Shai got ball first. Nick nurse was mad about it. He changed a call against the 76ers a few minutes later in retaliation and lost. Then he got T’d up after a clear offensive foul was called on 76ers and he disagreed.
Nick Nurse’s lack of composure isn’t talked about enough. It seriously detracts from his coaching
He can be quite condescending at times, and I think it hurts his case most of the time. Having sat through one of his coaching workshops, I can tell you he’s an incredible basketball mind. But he cheapens his brand by constantly complaining and undermining the refs. Seriously, he’s one of the few coaches I’ve seen complain when bad calls go in his favour lol. He just really likes being the smartest guy and telling everyone about every chance he gets.
He’s been absolutely horrible as the Sixers coach so there isn’t really much to detract from, more just another reason why he sucks.
When was the last time Sixers had a good coach?
Who’s been better than Nurse?
To be fair that’s probably because it’s not nearly his biggest weakness as a coach
I am so sick of his bitching and moaning
His last couple seasons in Toronto were honestly kinda insufferable. Just so much whining constantly.
You gotta be a good coach first before you can act like that
Between him and Embiid, there’s just so much ref BS that comes with Philadelphia, when they really should just be a very likeable up tempo young team.
The Maxey/Edgecombe 76ers just like to ball, and they show so much more composure than their seniors.
The ref BS in Philly is the reason the Celtics won game 6 in 2023
I’m wondering if any person thought that was a good challenge. I’m no expert, but it seemed pretty clear.
There are games where you can question the refs, but I feel like when people call us out, it’s always games that don’t seem that controversial
These coaches see OKC on the schedule and it’s a premeditated crash out as soon as there’s one 50⁄50 call that doesn’t go their way
There’s gotta be a group chat of all the head coaches called “everybody but mark”
No marks allowed club
Then he needed that challenge later when the refs totally blew a goaltend call
It was such a bad challenge lmao. People in the arena didn’t really even know why he challenged it
The call he challenged was so obviously a correct call too lmao
You seem like an unbiased source on this.
Finch - aww you’re sweet
Nurse - hello, human resources
Nurse is soooo whiny though
To the top we go
Dudes losing his job EOS
Do u think Adam silver has never once fucked up a day in his life, but did one time in front OKC, and now they have the keys to the crowns war chest
Adam silver sitting there (seeing every reddit post)
Tf u want me to do Abt this
Meanwhile literally bro
They are not perfect, but they are better
Equal fouls called for teams at the time of this crash out btw
Ur everywhere
yea cause numbers famously tell the entire story
Go ahead and show us the entire story
same ignorant argument. It’s the quality not the quantity of calls.
Bht the quality was also fine. You could argue the over turned foul call on shai was a foul, but the ref’s have made it clear that hitting the ball first is sometimes okay and sometimes not. Aside from that, nurse has literally no leg to stand on against okc because the game was called very fairly.
It’s like people have never heard about make-up calls
Tbf if you just look purely at fouls called not all fouls are called the same. Some fouls get guys into foul trouble, some kill momentum, some are away from the ball and ticky tack, and others result in FTs. And then sometimes it’s not called the same both ways.
Box score watching is ultimately what Adam Silver wants in his highlight league, but if you just look and say both teams have the same number of fouls that’s missing a lot of context.
(For context: I don’t like either of these teams)
This is exactly the name of the game. And it’s nothing new. Jordan should have received a second technical against the Sonics in one of the Finals games in the 90s but they didn’t want to toss him. The refs would sometimes completely buff prime Shaq and give him 2-3 early fouls and not let him even attempt to play defense and dominate the paint. Other times he could go full Juggernaut without getting called for any fouls. The early 2000s were scarred by Tim Donaghy and Scott Foster making timely calls to shave points or completely stop one teams momentum or put key players in foul trouble. Scott Foster still gets assigned important games in the playoffs to guide the outcome to one more favorable to Adam Silver with the exact same tactics. The NBA is for entertainment first and foremost. The outcome of games, series, draft positions, etc., isn’t always completely decided by fair competition on the court.
This is 110% the case. My take though is that Donaghey wasn’t creating these tricks to bet on games. They were just pre ordained scripts the league had for who they wanted to win, because it still happens every night in today’s nba
That would make a lot of sense
Of course the league is scripting all of this. I mean, why wouldn’t the NBA want the team in Oklahoma to be the best team in the league. The booming metropolis of Oklahoma City obviously has more pull than LA, NY, Chicago, Houston, Dallas, etc.
Yeah SGA never flops and OKC gets a terrible whistle and actually OK isn’t 50th in education 😭
I’m not even from Oklahoma but go off I guess. I’m just a dude who really liked Westbrook and stuck it out with the Thunder after he left.
But please, continue to tell me about how SGA drawing fouls means the league is rigged for the Thunder. You’ve developed such a strong argument so far, I just need to see you bring it home for me
If a team is more physical on defense and has equal fouls called, then that is not an even whistle
I guarantee if I was a ref and you tasked me with giving an advantage to a team, I could absolutely give them a significant advantage while calling the same number of fouls

Explains where Luka inherited it. Wonder where Harden’s genes mix in there somewhere…
Okc plays defense like football linebackers btw
damn straight brother
I guess if our frame of reference is the fanatics flag football games this weekend with Team USA and if the linebackers are Logan Paul
Luka would still be in Dallas if he played defense like we do 🤷♂️

How much time do you spend on Reddit to do that
Spelling backwards with the letters right in front of you isnt hard.
Proud of you, big guy
Would help if they could hit some shots? They went almost 5 minutes without making anything, including missing free throws.
yeah it was right after a dude just full arm extension shoved someone too, so it’s not like it was a marginal call or anything. I think it was more to pump up his team than anything.
I’ve never seen this guy not pouting and bitching
Dort and Caruso immediately had b2b fouls after this, maybe it works idk
I do think in a series coaches should probably be vocal about the officiating around OKC but in this game? Like Nick you’re down like 4 starters OKC could’ve probably benched half their starters and still won this comfortably
I wonder if his and Finch’s text chain is in all caps.
Don’t forget JB
Probably every coach but OKC in that chat fuming because it sucks playing you guys
Edit: Sheesh OKC fans cannot take a joke. Yall won a championship you don’t have to be this insecure
I 4-1 agree with this comment. I’d crash out too if I constantly got belt.
Mavs gave us belt too and I didn’t despise their playstyle
So true lol I actually had a ton of respect for that Mavs team. Luka was an absolute demon
This just feels racist. White guy that bitches and flops is a demon, but SGA… if I speak…
I forgot you and I are on the teams?!
lol you’re the one who said it sucks playing ‘you guys’
If people get into the semantics of using “we” when talking about sports, it’s typically because their argument got belt. Very Chris Finch of you
Your argument is very Oklahoma City of you
I don’t get how Wolves fans defend Finch like this, instead of actually coaching his team and being a leader for his players, the guy constantly blames refs and avoids any sort of accountability
Same way y’all defend your team
Yeah but we’ve won a chip, your coach being a whiner who doesn’t take any accountability is one of the things holding the Wolves back from a true contender
With an actual good coach, you guys would probably contenders or at least more of a contender than you are with Finch
3 mins left in the game. OKC have 13 personal fouls, Philly has 12.
so bullying works?
There were exactly the same amount of fouls at the moment this happened.
Acting like there’s a free throw discrepancy okc has shot 10, Philly has shot 7
Loses its luster when you realize the context of him being mad about an obvious incorrect call being overturned in OKCs favor. Also Nick Nurse yells at the refs about as much as any head coach, probably more. I agree with the sentiment though
Finch and Nurse looking at each other like tasty snacks
Whiniest coach in the NBA!
Finch exists
2nd to JB Bitterstaff
Nurse is the most annoying coach in the league imo.
Every single coach does nothing but whine when playing against OKC dude. Nick, your team isn’t down 20 because OKC has gotten a few foul calls. They’re down 20 because they can’t stop bricking shots and turning the ball over.
Link for that Crewneck please
We are perfect
they have an almost equal amount of free throws
Hope they didn’t T him
It was after they t’d him
NBA coaches, they’re just like us!
What will prevail? r/nba hate for the Sixers or them agreeing that OKC grifts
I fear we already know the answer to this
I feel insane. I can’t imagine watching this game and thinking the refs were favoring us. The most egregious moment was the Drummon offensive goaltend, and by then, the game was over.
I mean nothing really matters at this point. The sixers fans around me in the arena didn’t seem to feel that aggrieved outside of the Drummond call and one play where it seemed like chet fouled Barlowe. But the crowd at large still boo’d every time Shai got to the line. And the online crowd doesn’t really care how the game itself was called. They’ll just see the one or two missed calls that did favor the thunder and run with it. The rest doesn’t matter
I get that OKC get bias calls but Nick you guys just suck.
They are so better Nick
They were so close too. This call cost them the game!
All they needed was 9 stops and 9 consecutive buckets and they were gonna tie it up right there!
It’s like r/nba crashing out lol
Nick nurse is truly awful
Dawg showed his whole ass on tv
Detroit and OKC show up and play rugby
Whoa, what the hell?? A sixers highlight is rising on r/nba! A game clip that isn’t the lakers, wemby, the nuggets, or- well, I guess it is also an okc highlight…Wait, it’s also a sixers lowlight- yeah this is gonna do great.
OKC living rent free lol
They’re literally playing OKC. That’s not what rent free means
Yeah that was just stupid
Well said u/… man what
Whine, whine, whine.
Starting to notice that the coaches that have complained the most about okc are all having mediocre seasons, are on the hot seat, and seem to hope blaming the refs will bail them out
Well that’s gonna do numbers…unfortunately
Do they?
Tell em coach
Nurse whines every play but he happens to be correct in his assessment this time.
What is up with all these coaches crying. Okc lives in their head rent free
I mean they’re are very few coaches who arent constantly complaining about foul calls. The narrative just makes it a clip when its against OKC.
nurse does this 30x a game
dont flatter yourself that its about the thunder
He could be losing by 39 and will still complain
It’ll blow up on this sub because its about the thunder though
Nurse is a well known poopy cry baby
Overrated coach too. Hes in the steve kerr category
The Chris Finch school of being a crashing out loser
[deleted]
Fr. It’s fucking annoying at this point. I’d rather remind everyone about how we beat Finch’s team in 5 last post-season.
