[Highlight] Wemby blocks Norman Powell’s reverse layup from the other side of the rim
you have to post that entire shot clock defensive sequence. literally defended the whole team by himself
Pure alien
I agree I hope someone on here or the team’s subreddit has the whole sequence.
Something you’ve never seen before every night
Victor was so pumped up because even he knew this was special.
Wemby is really 2 defenders in 1 . It’s 5 v 6 out there
He’s KG + Gobert
Is there another human being in the history of the world who could make this recovery & block
Olajuwon in his prime
EDIT: Added a clip
This is why Olajuwon is my favorite center ever. I was mesmerized by his defense
Better
bol bol
Not agile enough
I think this is comedy because Shaq was saying Bol Bol is essentially Wemby and we’ve seen it already.
I mean he’s not that wrong. Bol Bol is pretty much Wemby, just without the height, speed, strength, agility, skill, and IQ.
I’m pretty much wemby in that sense too
Prime Hakeem and Prime Mutombo
Hakeem wouldn’t be long enough. Mutombo is for sure less mobile than Wemby. All three guys can block reverse layups but the angle and approach is different.
Yeah. It at least wouldn’t look like that.
DPOY
its a lock for at least next 10 yrs if he stays healthy.
If there were ever a chance to overcome voter fatigue, this guy could singlehandedly do it
DPOF - Forever
Dream was better
Arguable. What isn’t arguable is that Wemby is 22 and still getting better every single week.
I mean wemby only has to stay healthy to win it every year imo
D GOAT
Bam will never win and it pisses me off 😭😭
Show the other angle of this. Like a leopard catching a gazelle in dead heat
Just take a look at this man 😭
What kind of a freakish beast
Are you allowed to hit the net? I thought that was goaltending? Did they change that or have I always been wrong about it? In high school a million years ago, we used to do reverses because the net would protect you from the defender, I thought.
He didn’t hit it first I guess
he definitely hit the net first cuz he blocks a reverse which is on the other side of the net lmao
They’re not going to call that a goal tend if the ball never even leaves your hand. Normally the rim itself protects your layup because it makes it impossible to get a hand in there, but Powell takes this reverse from kind of far out giving wemby a chance. Other players have had success against wemby using the reverse.
But his hand definitely does hit the net. I’m not asking if they ever call it in this scenario. I’m asking should they have called it because there’s a rule about it. I’m just curious because it was definitely a thing back in the early 90s and it’s interesting to see rules change and/or get called differently.
He’s just unfair
I know I should detest the Spurs but god I love watching this kid play
He just had a sequence where he had like 3 defensive stops on one end (with two of them being blocks) and 2 dunks and an oop to Carter Bryant on the other all in a row. Bro just generated like a 12 point swing in a couple of minutes of gametime in the most effortless way possible.
Now we know what would have happened if Reed Richards decided to ball instead of fucking around with Dr Doom.
Well this is simply unfair
That’s just mean Victor 😭
That’s nasty victor
JJ skeedaddled on out of there
Insane, in-fucking-sane.
I’ve never seen that in my life
/u/MrBuckBuck please post this with replays
Why don’t people bump him. I would think any contact would knock him out of the way.
That is fucking insane!
Not to mention Jacquez just completely dribbling out of the lane, avoiding what would’ve been a fine layup against most people.
This guy’s defense is insane
Man I hated when it was only man to man, the illegal defense calls were insane.
But the only way to level the playing field with this kid is going back to no zone defense lmao. Absolutely surreal that’s a 10’ rim and those aren’t little kids he’s picking on.
Can’t even use the ring as a shield. 😭 Players should be practicing doing layups to the backboard. Wemby can’t block that.
Yes that is what happens when a 7’4 with a long wingspan plays basketball………..controversial take……not that impressive because he is that tall.
Go back to TikTok with this awful take 😂
Never been on TikTok but will try
If it’s so easy, why is Bol Bol playing in the Philippines?
Wemby is slightly taller, better motor and wantto play and has decent athletic ability to Malachi his height.
So if it’s also because of his motor and athletic ability, wouldn’t that mean there’s more to it than his height? Wouldn’t that make it impressive?
Imagine seeing that highlight and you somewhat failed to see the impressive lateral movement.
