The NBA suspensions across the board are a complete and utter joke, it’s entertainment first, competition second in terms of priority. This isn’t about this specific incident, I don’t think Luka should have got a technical for this incident, it’s how they allow so many technicals and how they punish flagrant fouls so softly is the problem.

If Sergio Ramos could get a red card, be replaced by a teammate and play the next game he’d have more red cards than Lebron has NBA games. It’s just as well most NBA players are relatively friendly with each other, in other sports there would be hired assassins taking advantage of a similar penalty system to the NBA.

A Diego Simeone-esque coach in the NBA would hit it like Smallpox hit the Natives, there would be at minimum three 7 feet tall Eastern Europeans that have never held a basketball before in their roster.

It’s the refs job to make sure the games go smoothly and players don’t get too heated and disrupt the game like fighting. If the refs tell players to quit the excessive talking, then it’s not outrageous if refs tech them for continuing to do so.

In your soccer scenario, NBA refs already tell players in game to stop fighting, like in Luka’s scenario. They kept going, so the refs gave them a tech. It’s a little weak, but not farfetched.
