I feel like it’s the most pervasive racism (in america at least) as well. A vast majority of people wouldn’t say the N word or be upset about black people being present almost anywhere in america, but they’ll have no problem calling a black person not in a suit and tie ghetto, or thinking less of them if they’re wearing some culturally black thing like a durag. They think they’re not racist because they don’t actively harm black people, but the passive aggressive thoughts and words keep the greater/lesser than version of racism alive and thriving.

A lot of prominent intellectuals and scientists from the old days were racist. You can be racist and smart.

I don’t want to give any racists more credit than they deserve but I really disagree with this. Someone could 100% be intelligent and racist at the same time. Some people are intellectually gifted and also just evil.

MA is 68% Non-Hispanic white.

Outside of Boston; Lawrence, Brockton, Chelsea, Springfield and Holyoke are all places with decent size populations that are outright majority minority.

The corridor from Milton to Brockton (West Milton, Randolph, Stoughton, Avon, Holbrook, Brockton) is a bunch of smaller towns + Brockton and filled with Black folks. Same idea once you head North (not my part of the metro though).

General rule since the 1980s has been Vietnamese moving into predominantly Irish descent areas (Dorchester, Quincy, Braintree), Haitians moving into predominantly Jewish areas (Mattapan, West Milton, Randolph), Cape Verdeans moving into formerly Portuguese areas (I.e Brockton, NB, Cape). This is obviously for more visible community presence. All the aforementioned groups live all over the metro as well as many others.

Utah is very white, SLC is more diverse. Looks like about 65% white.

We could also look at this as whiteness of metro areas. Boston would get whiter if you included all of the suburbs and such, Boston itself is smaller than you’d think.

Denver is 54% white (not-hispanic)

The online fanbase does feel overwhelmingly white though

Boston is the most progressive ass backwards city. You could have someone in a downtown bar shit talking minorities, then say they voted for Deval Patrick and Michelle wu. Or people hating on the amount of Asian immigrants here for school or the tech sector and turn around and be proudly vocal about fuck Trump and the Republican Party lol it has its terrible moments but by and large it seems like people say but don’t do anything bad

If you think bussing 50 years ago was bad, you should read about what went down in south (including Texas)….I don’t believe there a city untainted by racism in the U.S., in the past or today. But somehow, a racist lady in Texas still always becomes about Boston.

Just saying all the people of multiple different heritages under the wide umbrella of “hispanic” do the same thing is crazy to me.
