LeBron James on Luke Kennard’s game-winner: “When I turned and saw who had the ball, I pretty much knew it was cash.”
Lebron is not lying this time. 😅😅😅😅
I always feel like Luke 3s are cash. A look THAT open was money
Going from sub-20% 3pt shooter to Luke Kennard is actually an insane upgrade
He had been slumping lately so it was perfect for him to break it.
Slumping but still at 48%. Getting him for Gabe Vincent is astonishing.
Lakers fans used to call him Garbage Vincent. Still do but used to too.
Cardio G might be my favorite.
Cardi V***
Mitch hedburg if he was an analyst
Hes implying that Luka/AR arent cash
Luka contested heavily is cash money.
Dude that 2nd half luka nose dived.
Man’s been around long enough to recognize a pure shooter when he sees one
I’d think the same if I went from having a guy that makes the team play 4 vs 5 for 20 minutes a night to having a shooter that plays his role to perfection.
LeKnew it was cash
He felt it would be cash when he woke up

Feel like it’s going under the radar but How the hell did the lakers get the highest 3 point percentage shooter this season for a guy who does cardio
His value is stunted by the fact that he has a massive reputation for never shooting. Pretty much every team he’s ever been on will wax poetic about this.
He’s a nice guy tho. I hope he has a good stint in LA.
Yeah I think he’s so liked here just because of the complete lack of bench players on the team, so one who can shoot and also dribble without instantly turning it over is going to be praised here
He better know how to dribble. He played like 60 games at PG in 23-24 because the other 4 PGs were hurt lol
That makes sense, he’s our only non starter I trust to actually handle the ball, and his passing is by far the best of our bench, though that’s a very low bar lmao
Every time Jake tries to dribble I look away
Vando’s probably watching him like, “man I’m getting DNP’d for this? I can airball 3s and miss layups, too”
Jake had a honeymoon period where he was the most active player on the court when everyone else had their heads out of the game. Hunting for rebounds, pushing the defense, making threes. Then everyone locked in and he was sidelined and probably got out of rhythm. He still has the hustle on defense, his iq just dropped to last years Hayes.
Oh man I haven’t watched that many lakers games this season but yeah that dudes handles look LOOSE
While true for those other team set ups, thats just not an issue on a team with 3 all-nba guys passing it to everybody else. He shoots when wide open and drives or swings it when not. There arent any dead possessions where anyone wants kennard jacking up 3s cuz nobody else created anything for 20 seconds. If those possessions happen, its on luka, lebron or reaves to handle the grenade. Perfect spot for him to be and fully expect him to re-sign when necessary to keep playing with luka and reaves and whoever their 3rd max guy is gonna be.
It’s not like he’s a total 0 when he’s not shooting it though. He’s a pretty effective secondary play maker, can attack a close out, run a weak side pick n roll, etc
I wonder if the 3 pt percentage is in his mind at all times, kinda wish he got up more 3s lol
The percentages might drop a bit but the dude is just so automatic from 3, it’d be cool to see him have a few games where he puts up 10+ 3s
He def cares about it but at least if he doesn’t shoot he drives and creates.
Even with the lakers he shows that tendency. If anyone is within 3 ft of him he will pass it out.
He’s basically an ideal laker because you have three guys who are high gravity drive threats. That makes open looks. Not many teams have that kind of offensive threat on offer to make use of Kennard.
He’s definitely an upgrade over Gabe but yeah he’s not a volume shooter by any means. Im honestly more surprised by his ability to drive off the line into middies or layups
Gabe is playing well for the Hawks so both sides are cool
Now it’s “highest 3 point percentage shooter”. When he was on the Hawks, it was “he’s only high percentage because he literally only takes wide open shots and passes on everything else.”
He’s also been a little out of the rotation and in a mini slump the last 6 games. Playing about 18 minutes per game and shooting 21% from 3.
NBA is weird, look at Tari Eason or something
He is more than 40% 3 pointer and missed like 20 shots straight
This apply to Donte too , when i watch him his shooting look like Vando but somehow he is sub 38-40%
I still remember Russ on one of his all star games He cant miss on three at all Think its the year AD won the all star MVP
Truly hit and miss league
Basically: when the Hawks traded Luke they got an $11 million Traded Player Exception (that will last until next February). It wasn’t about wanting Cardio Gabe, they wanted the TPE.
(And after getting Corey Kispert in the Trae trade the Hawks felt better about losing Luke. Personally I would have kept Luke, but I get the TPE part of it)
I’m no cap expert. pls explain how they created a tpe when they had to absorb Vincent’s salary, which is also 11m
Sure. Hawk structured the Luke Kennard trade as two separate transactions:
The Hawks used a \(13.1M TPE (previously from the trade of Bogdan Bogdanovic) to take on Gabe Vincent's \)11.5M contract. Because they used an exception to “pay” for Vincent, they didn’t have to send any player salary back to the Lakers to match him.
Since Vincent was already “accounted for” by the Bogdanovic exception, Kennard was essentially traded into the Lakers cap space (or a matching exception on their end) for “nothing” in return player-wise.
When a team trades a player and does not take back a player in that specific “slot,” they create a new TPE equal to the traded player’s salary.
Well he’s white
That percentage comes from 4 attempts per game
This was the lottery price. Silver wanted Kennard on the Lakers. Hawks are drafting 1st.
I like how its clearly a one-sided fleece trade for the Lakers, but not one mention is about Pelinka, just like the GOAT Luka trade.
But when Ayton doesn’t play well for 8 mil, Pelinka is trash for getting him. Lol.
How is it a one sided fleece?

ESPN: Lebron glad his co-star AR and Luka didn’t get the ball since they’ll brick it. Trouble in paradise?
You should work for ESPN.
Luke is shooting 48.6% from 3 and is notoriously selective so I wouldn’t consider this a LeCap moment
Well they gave him an offer he couldn’t refuse lol. On the Lakers, he hasn’t looked as selective as other fans have made him out to be.
Naw he’s was for sure selective on his other teams
Still feels like it though
Yeah Kennard’s been automatic from deep this season, but even with those numbers I’d still be nervous seeing him that wide open in crunch time.
“I knew he was gonna drop 60” ahh statement 💀
Tbf Kennard shoots like 45% from three
*48.6
Can’t believe they left him open wtf lol
I physically cringed during our game with the Lakers on that one possession where the ball got to the open man and it was Kennard.
“oh Austin tripped and Luka is covered, good thing there isn’t a third white boy that can shoo-oh my god”
Blend in with the crowd, easy mistake
As soon as I saw bam get out the tunnel I knew he was going for 60 when he laced up I was like damn he might break Kobe’s record
Casuals and non Lakers fans are so stupid. This Luke Kennard guy isn’t some random scrub, he’s literally the most accurate shooter in the league
I knew it was cash too, am I Nostradamus as well? Lmao. Y’all always trying to go the extra mile to hate on LeBron, it’s pathetic
somewhere in another timeline gabe vincent is still on the lakers and somehow, someway he gets the go for last shot and air balls ..
“I knew Bam was gonna drop 83”
“I was like ‘Kobe going for 80 tonight’ “

Me too, Lebron, me too.

This means there are teammates he would’ve seen with the ball and knew it was a clanker. Who are they?
Probably Dalton Knecht, and maybe the other LeBron James
LeProphet
luke had 10pts before this but then bron said “might as well go for 13”
“When I turned and saw who who…um who the ball was in his hands on a wide open 3, I pretty much knew it was cash”
Get it right OP.
LePremonition
Think LeBron was hoping he didn’t get fouled on that inbound so he wouldn’t have to shoot free throws
Refs should be investigated fr

Lots of posters in this thread don’t know how praising a teammate works. Lebron is glazing his teammate to the media. That’s being a good teammate. You want your shooters to feel trusted and confident.
Lebron back at it
It’s funny to meme it but like is this really a crazy statement when it’s Luka Kennard who got a wide open look?
You can’t make this shit up

“When I turned and saw Chris Paul shooting a three to try to cut the lead down to 42, I pretty much knew it was cash”
Lol wat if it was rui or someone else 👀
He has passed a game winner to Rui before though
Isn’t Rui the guy he passed to when he had the attempt for 10 points on his steak, but gave it up for the win?
I mean Rui is another guy with ridiculously high 3p%. 43.8 this season.

Can’t wait for them to be dogshit in the playoffs again
I love how you’re think, we’re gonna have DFS at center or Hayes again lol
Why does this man just keep on lying?
