[Highlight] LeBron James starts his 1,612nd regular-season game, the most in NBA history, passing Robert Parish
1612nd
One hundred sixty one second
That’s almost three minutes worth of games played
“No Child Left Behind”
I had a job that involved teenagers reading numbers for me to verify. Some of them would just say “16 12” and then trip over their words when the numbers hit 5 digits.
Bros too busy karma farming to use proper grammar
For once I actually hope AI was used to type that
Genuinely impressive but everyone will go “meh” since its Bron unfortunately
iT’s jUsT a LoNgEvItY sTaT
They act like that’s not impressive, players are never this good playing this long
Jordan took 2 breaks, he got more rest than LeBron ever did
I know you are being sarcastic saying this but this one truly is a longevity stat. However, not in a bad way. To play that many games you have to be around a long time. Injuries and decline keep players from playing this long and logging this many games.
The sarcasm is pointed to those who think this being a longevity stat means it’s not impressive. I remember watching Parish on the Bulls then (the only time I watched him play lol). As an NBA nerd then, it was cool to see a relic of the 80s Celtics still playing in the NBA at the time I started watching ball.
But that’s what he was, a relic (still an impressive feat lasting that long ofc). LeBron is still throwing down signature tomahawks and dropping triple doubles and he broke that man’s record.
Honestly, kinda?
The only reason he hasn’t set the record so far out of reach already is because he’s missed so many games after joining the Lakers.
If he plays next season nobody will touch it for a while, a long while.
It’s wild how longevity gets taken for granted until someone actually looks at the number. 1,612 games is an insane amount of wear and tear.
For context, tonight’s Magic starters have played in a total of 1852 NBA games.
Fucking insane

Wait, so he might play his 300th play-off game this post-season? That can’t be right.
LeBron went to the finals 10 times, that’s at least 12 wins each time, which already accounts for 120 games.
Four championships, so plus 16 more games, 136.
And then you add the other losses and wins. He’s also never missed a playoff game.
Why not?
It was more of a ‘that’s such a crazy number my brain has trouble computing it’. He already has 33 games more than #2 Derek Fisher too.
Who is in 2nd for most career starts?

LeBron having 2 non-starts lmao. I’m guessing both coming back from injury and playing limited minutes.
Look them up, one has a good story behind it
I just read it. That was nice of him with Varejao, but he should not have had to do that lol. Fans really suck sometimes.
That should definitely be Kareem, I’d think. His Basketball Reference page shows that they must not have been counting starts as a stat for a good chunk of his career, but considering he started every game from 1982 onwards I’m guessing he must have started virtually every game of his career (~1560 starts).
I doubt LeBron gives a shit, but it just occurred to me that you’re probably not supposed to inhale that chalk powder.
Bro I was just thinking this and he does it every game.

*Plays his 1612th game
He came off the bench once for the Cavs when Anderson Varejao held out on a contract so Varejao wouldn’t get booed going into the game and once for the Lakers for some reason, so he’s only started 1610 games.
But he literally starts the 1,612nd game too. This game is 1612 and he started.
English as a Second Language teacher, I’d be pedantic over this if I were grading my student’s paper.
The main idea is he broke Kareem’s played game record. The “Lebron James starts his 1,612th regular-season game.” part is a focus on him starting in a game, which is a separate record. There’s no mention in the sentence of the record being for played games, so if someone who didn’t know about those two starts read it, they’d assume the record was for stated games, not played games. The sentence really needs a clarification on played to be clear.
Congratulations! Playing that many games is indeed a feat. It means you are good enough to stick around. It also means you old AF. 😆
In all seriousness, it is a heck of a milestone.
While he’s getting older he’s also getting talented
That’s a lot of baby powder inhaled
Unc actually approaching 2K NBA games
Yeah but Jordan would of done it faster
1612
Unexpected Vulfpeck connection
Why would he disrespect Parish by breaking his record? I’ve been told that’s how it works when Bam scored 83
