[Highlight] Steph Curry when asked if he’d potentially follow in his father, Dell’s footsteps in joing the Charlotte Hornets
Probably in the minority but would rather see Curry next year along with Kon Knueppel and this Hornets team than the sorry ass Warriors teammates he have now.
This is what I’m saying. He will always be seen as a one team guy even if he joins the Hornets, especially since its not blatant ring chasing but instead helping build something in his hometown and his dad’s legacy. MJ is looked at as a one team guy despite 2 years on the Wizards
Tony Parker, Hakeem, and Ewing comes to mind as well.
Hornets legend Tony Parker
D Wade too
Never played for us no sir not once
D Wade only played for the heat and cavs
And the Bulls
holy shit til d wade was in cleveland 2018
And Chicago in 2017
Ewing never left the Knicks. 🥺
Ewing played for the SuperSonics and Magic after the Knicks
Not in my head he didn’t.
Are you sure? I thought he played for Georgetown
A steph hornets jersey would look 100x better than a tony parker hornets jersey or a hakeem toronto jersey
I always thought it was weird he ended up on the team that he owned. I wanna see Brady come out of retirement and play for the Raiders!
This subs love for steph hilarious bro we gettin comments bout “ngl one team guy lowkey doesnt even mean one team guy..” for his sake
LBJ fan successfully rage baited
They hate him so much lol
Of course they do, because they know that in hindsight it was Steph’s era and not LeBron’s
Ngl bron is kinda a one team guy if you squint hard enough
The ring he won in Cleveland is worth as much as the other 3 combined so I kinda agree haha
The one he went to four straight finals and got two rings with
Is it hilarious? I think the 17 seasons, 4 titles and 2 mvps with one team is a pretty easy excuse lol
Yes i think one team guy actually means one team guy
It’s not a function of how many titles you win
Dirk is a one team guy, Jordan is not
Hot take ig lol
It’s just denotation vs connotation. It doesn’t really matter, it’s all in context. If you asking “who are players who have only played on one team their entire career” then yeah you’ll get those answers. If you ask “who are players who are known for one team” then you get different answers. Not really a hot take outside of pedantry lol
I know what you’re saying and you’re right, but it would be different from Tony Parker joining the Hornets at the end of his career. Considering it’s his hometown and he still reps the city, Steph coming here just seems right.
It’s impressive you’re able to read and type while bouncing on it that hard
Wouldn’t be fair. Steph and Kon on the same team, might be the best shooting backcourt and short lived after Steph and Klay.
im not even a steph fan like that i hate the warriors lol
but i do want more talent in my conference and who wouldnt love to see a deep hornets run, it would be great for basketball
Sure id like to see it too
It would also mean he’s no longer a one team guy
ofc not, my point was that the one team guy thing is overrated and most legends (other than bron) get remembered for one team over the others anyway. Ending it on a mediocre warriors team just counting down the days is wayy sadder than a fun young team in his hometown and more opportunity in an easier conference
If Miles Bridges fucks off into the sun between then and now, then yes
his expiring contract would 100% have to be used to match salary, so I’ve got good news there
I’m not gonna choose as a beggar since we last made the playoffs a decade ago, but depending on the timing this could be really interesting.
The Hornets are looking to re-sign Coby and I imagine that comes in around \(25-30 mil/year, so you’re looking at \)70 mil between him and LaMelo with quality players on rookie scales mostly filling in the rest.
Having a young 6MOTY quality backup to your star PG and two potential All Star wings on rookie scale deals is a nice position for a young team. Adding an all-time great instead of that 6MOTY caliber dude would also be excellent, but it completely changes the path forward and outlook for the franchise.
What if we trade him for Steph
Then i’ll gladly hate the Warriors
Win-Win for everyone!
“Probably in the minority” says the top comment on this post. Y’all are funny
he also said it at the beginning of the post, like he’d knew his comment would be a top comment
Much better PR but it’s starting to feel a bit like Giannis at Milwaukee. Like what’s even the point
Nothing wrong with riding off into the sunset with your franchise after doing it all.
Maybe “wrong” is not the right word but I do think it would suck if he just stayed in GS. That roster is really bad, and the FO has taken a step back since the Jerry West days.Â
Steph is the most entertaining basketball player I’ve ever seen. I want to see him play in competitive games while he’s still really good. That isn’t going to happen again in GS before he’s over the hill.Â
I think it’s in play - Steph is a showman and the show in GS is hard to watch.Â
he’s old anyways and won a ton
Looking at Kon’s shooting percentages with Lamelo on/off I fantasize about what Curry would look like with Lamelo.
we could’ve seen this had the Warriors had brains in the 2020 draft
wiseman was the popular pick at the time. He just sucked. It wasnt some dumb move
Yep. If LaMelo was a little more normal, they probably take him. Like, go to UCLA for a season. He quit high school ball, played in some random games his dad set up, then shot 25% from 3 in AUS for a bit.
He looked pretty good in aus despite the raw percentages of just 11 games. When he dropped a 30 point triple double at 18 against grown men his draft stock skyrocketed.
Yeah, even Hornets fans wished Golden State had passed on Wiseman so we could get him at the time.
I always wanted Lamelo personally. Solely because he had an obvious superstar ceiling. Never draft for fit that high. It was 12⁄25 when they picked wiseman for me.
i’m just going off by some Warriors fans, but didn’t Steve Kerr want Hali or LaMelo? or am I confusing with him wanting Franz > Kum Bucket? either way Wiseman did not fit the teams philosophy like Kuminga
Hali loved GS and has said it was his dream destination, gave them his best interview, workout, etc. But he also said he knew they wouldn’t pick him with the 2nd pick. Kerr was impressed by him iirc and Hali told a story in a podcast (PG?) of how Steve called the Kings’ coach and said “Do whatever you want, but don’t touch that kid’s shooting”.
god did they fuck that pick up sooo badly lol. sure, i wont act like it wasnt a fairly consensus pick, but it seemed like a weird choice to take a development project with their only top-3 pick they were gonna get the entire decade. but hey, i won’t say that they made the wrong pick, i will instead merely claim that the pick sucked because it didn’t work out, because that is just true haha.Â
How’s Kon’s defense? Could it be like Curry/Klay, but Splash Brothers 2.0?
Plus he has to slow Kon down from beating his all time record. Best way to do it is to literally take away his shots.
Stop it
There are better options if winning a title is something Curry wants another chance at.
Steph has said on multiple occasions through his career that the place he’d want to go to if he ever had to leave is Charlotte. Now he’s also said on multiple occasions that he’s not leaving Golden State, and I fully believe him.
I don’t think the Steph to Charlotte thing is happening except for a retirement tour once he’s no longer a star.
Charlotte could be pretty good by the time Steph is up as a UFA
Nah
ew i don’t want steph near miles bridges
Seein him with the hornets would be fucking crazy. Lamelo, Kon, and Curry all knocking down 3s would be incredible
He’s making 60mill oh hell no
Splash father with splash sons.
Bridges, filler, and picks for Curry
You’re absolutely not in the minority.
Another potential splash brothers with kon would go crazy
I doubt you’re in the minority, unless it’s teams scared Steph would raise the Hornets to a true contender lol.
Warriors fans and people who want more lifers are probably the only ones who want him to stay with the Warriors until the bitter end.
Curry with Kon, with Melo running the ball up would be the most entertaining offensive team ever and I’m not even mentioning the rest of the Hornets
Warriors would be better if Kerr was a better coach. He picks favorites and they don’t develop talent, either as a result of that or not. He’s a great coach. But he hasn’t shown he can really develop players/teams.
currys more open with the idea of leaving the warriors than giannis lmao
He’s just being graceful lol, wild that people here think he’d leave the dubs.
He’s retiring a Warrior unless something drastic happens. This is Steph being politically correct as always lol.
People been asking him this question for a decade now.
He’s not wasting the rest of his career on that dog shit team with no viable means of getting better. He gone after next season, mark my words
Well, it’s also because nobody is gonna be upset if Curry goes to the Hornets. That’s why he can say stuff openly. Giannis will hurt some feelings.
But Curry to the Hornets? Who’s gonna be upset? Warriors fans love him anyways. And it’s the Hornets, not the Lakers. The Warriors fans will just nod and be happy for him, he’s earned it.
Well yes, Giannis doesn’t play for the Warriors.
Yeah but they wont press that since he’s in a large market team already, the media been trying to shove Giannis out the door as much as possible.
Steph really gonna retire a hornet
would be crazy that Dell’s kids both play with the #30 jersey in their careers. Seth already did it.
Hornets roster unironically better rn
Not everything has to be “unironically” or “literally.”
Deadass
Frfr
Factd
big if true
No caps
Lowkey
Periodt
I think it made sense there. Calling the Hornets better than anyone is a bit of a new thing for NBA fans.
Thank you, Rick Astley.
Thanks, Rick. Let em know
Literally!
Everyone who watches basketball in 2026 knows this
If only the warriors had an opportunity to draft a talent like Lamelo.
1 month awful take ban. 👨‍⚖️
Is it really such an awful take?
The Warriors w/out Steph aren’t particularly good, and a healthy version of the Hornets is pretty good.
Kerr has pretty impressively kept them in games against good teams without both steph and butler
I think a healthy version of the warriors would be pretty good
Don’t sleep on the idea of Melo setting up Steph.
The Warriors did
The undisputed greatest shooter ever with a little left in the tank paired up with the most promising rookie shooter since…Curry? Yeah…awful take.
The Hornets are a fun athletic young team, but they have no veteran leadership and have no idea what the playoffs are like. Adding Curry would be completely additive.
Reddit GMs saying “no thanks” to Steph Curry is objectively comical.
what are you even trying to say lol
That the Hornets are not better without Steph Fucking Curry.
no one claimed that?
Read the comment again. It was about the Hornets being a better team than the Warriors, which is true.
exposing yourself as illiterate
That’s not the convo. Remove Steph curry entirely. Are the hornets or warriors better? Like which is the better team for Steph to join?
breaking: cavs fans can’t read
omg did u have a stroke?
The Hornets literally have a better record than the Warriors WITH Steph. Add Stephs veteran leadership (and just still being a great player) and the Hornets are unquestionably the better situation. Genuinely, how is this confusing to you?? Does Podz really move you that much lmao
…steph curry would be the vet leadership
and they do also have vets like grant williams and pat connaugton
Would be really cool but also sad to not have Steph a warrior his entire career
Change your flair you ain’t one of us if you don’t want Steph 🤬
Obviously steph is steph and I wouldn’t be upset but what happens to our lineup? Do we play a super small lineup or does one of LaMelo/Miller move to the bench?
Steph closing his career with a couple consecutive 6th Man awards would be pretty fuckin cool, honestly.
Lamelo and Steph?? Blasphemy that wouldn’t and couldn’t ever happen /s
You guys wouldn’t be that small tbh
LaMelo is 6’7, Kon is 6’6 & Miller is 6’7
Yea offensively positions outside of point guard really don’t matter, it’s defensive where those positions matter and having any of those guys guarding 4’s could be a bit problematic. Team could be so ridiculous offensively that it doesn’t matter though.
Steph would obv come off the bench like his daddy
I didn’t say I didn’t want Steph. Reading is fundamental.
people not factoring in that while he’s from charlotte, all of his kids are bay area kids and see that being a factor
No
Dad, if I promise to take out the trash for a whole season, can I wear #30?
Would be kinda sad to see Curry leave the warriors ngl
Hes not going to leave or at least I hope he doesn’t.
Theres something cool and immortalizing to playing for 1 team (and being a superstar for them at that).
He’s going to say nice things in an interview, but people are overthinking how passionate he is about the Hornets. He has been on the Warriors his entire career and has achieved legandary status here. His name is synonymous with the Warriors brand. If his goal is to ride off into the sunset he’s going to do that right here. And if he decides to go for another ring there are plenty of better teams he can do that with. Hornets aren’t winning anything in the next 2 years, with or without Steph.
I don’t think he’s leaving the warriors either but he’s been pretty open about potentially playing for Charlotte if he went somewhere else. Not sure why you’re discounting the man himself lol.
Every single one of those interviews is like this one.
“Hey Steph, would you want to go play for the Hornets like your dad?”
“Yeah, that could be cool”
Then there will be a thousand articles about how Steph is definitely retiring in Charlotte.
Not saying it cannot happen, but then anything can happen. I personally think LeBron and Steph teaming up in their last season is a lot more likely. But realistically I don’t think Steph is going anywhere.
Thinking him teaming up with LBJ is more likely than him coming to Charlotte is what I’ve come to expect from r/nba lmfao. We just makin shit up
avg ball knowledge in this sub is borderline embarrassing at this point. it’s basically a cricle jerk sub
Right? Lmao the last time he was asked about Bron coming to Golden State he literally said “we good.”
I wonder if u even watched this clip
It was steph who is being asked about how HE brought up dell making an exception for the retired jersey. This was his doing
Shoulda heard him talking about how he grew up in the Charlotte Colliseum last night.
People forget, he actually grew up here. Not “played high school and college ball”
Follow in Dell’s footsteps and join the Raptors
Lifelong Warriors fan here - Steph, do whatever you want, you’re a warriors lifer no matter what. Have as much fun as you can. If you go, bring earplugs for your first game back in the bay so you don’t lose your hearing
There’s a future where Steph plays for the Hornets and is a back up to Knueppel
Probably on his retirement tour when he’s no longer the Curry of old and his a mentor to the next great shooter
What the hell…?! He should come to the Raps. I KNOW he has more memories here than Charlotte.
… Of course maybe some more recent bad ones too.
Homie has 4 rings, I think he’s ok with losing 1 to us.Â
I doubt it happens but we really do lack a lead guard
I can see him becoming an owner if that avenue opens up post retirement.
Steph corners looking sketchy
Lamelo, Steph, Kon, Brandon Williams would be a fun lineup
The Warriors MUST do the right thing and trade Curry to Charlotte. After all he’s done for them, it’s the right thing to do
steph would fit so damn well on the hornets lmaooo
Maybe they can make the exception since it’s the same last name
Pleaseeeeeeeee
The media are always asking players some of the dumbest questions
Everyone ok with it except the people paying his salary
Trade Steph while he has some value.
Get some good players or picks back.
đź‘€
Finally the Steph and Melo partnership is upon us
Is it just me or does his hair look fake or some shit in this? Looks like it’s just placed on his head like a wig or some shit. Idk what it is, it just doesn’t look real or natural.
I’d rather him on the raptors.
Ain’t no way Ayesha going to Charlotte and leaving her bull in SF.
Cringe
Bull?
He should join them on a bench role with a lesser contract and mentor Kon and Lamelo after his warrior contract is up
Steph prolly benches Brandon or Kon. I’m not sure I like the idea anymore lol
He’s not. He even said he wants to transition to the bench role as he gets older and the only two teams he’ll play for is warriors and hornets in multiple interviews. I think it’s bound to happen after next year.
I can get behind it then. Don’t want to sacrifice the youth for a retirement tour even if it’s for the hometown kid.
I could see a 40 year old Steph coming off the bench and filling in as a starter when someone is banged up.
*And keep in mind he is 38 rn. So it isn’t that far in the future, but he needs to manage his minutes.
I think you just slide everyone up a position. Miller as a small 4 could work like hes 6 9. Then kon at the 3 and steph at the 2
BMilly would get absolutely COOKED on defense at the 4 lol. He might be 6’9” but he is getting straight up bodied by all comers at 4
Yah but you would have like a 140 offensive rating
You aren’t wrong
Take that flair off if you actually think that, seriously.
Yeah Steph Curry is going to end his career sitting on the bench in fucking Charlotte. You guys are delusional.
I mean that is literally what he said. He wants to transition to a bench role as he gets older and when his warriors contact is up he will be 39.
It’s 2026. The Hornets are good and exciting and the Warriors are mediocre and sad. You’re delusional if you don’t think it’s possible.
