it is silly like that but it makes sense. trying to distract the player in any way during a shot in fiba is considered unsportmanlike so it’s penalised. in the nba this only applies to free throws which makes it arguably sillier.
I think that’s kinda weird that it’s unsportsmanlike. I guess it’s not a basketball move but it’s really no different than a hand to the face of a shooter to block his view.
Which is, you won’t believe it, a technical foul in FIBA :)
