If we want a clip to argue whether Wemby is MVP worthy, this is it. (no, I’m not saying he should be MVP) The game winning shot is great, the more importantly is the Suns treatment of Wemby.
THEY DO NOT KNOW WHAT TO DO. They already left Fox fucking wide open at the 3pt line but still want to “focus” on Wemby. But:
In the end, they just put a small in the middle to help deter Wemby (a 7’5” big man) from dribble penetration and hope he beat them by a mid range jumpshot, like how normal team defend against a star guard. Yet, a mid range jump shot against someone one feet shorter is like an open shot for Wemby.
Team without a mobile big (at least 7’) is going to be tough against Wemby, much like teams in 90s -00s need bulky 7” (regardless of skill) against Shaq. But mobile 7” is even more rare.
We should have fouled him immediately so he at least couldnt run down the clock. I already assuned it was a guaranteed score that possession.
