He is a Center and scoring like 8 less points.
If he’s more valuable he’s more valuable regardless of position, and it’s 5 fewer ppg and with more rebounds and assists.
Centers are naturally going to get more rebounds. And Jokic being a defensive liability at center is a huge issue.
That’s fair, it’s not easy to just plug another center into a lineup. I still think the efficiency gap was big, although a lot of that was built up earlier in the season, he’s not been playing at an mvp level for a while now.
SGA has insanely low turnovers and defends at a much higher level than Luka also and plays 2 minutes less per game than Luka which deflates his PPG. And while Luka shoots a lot more 3s than SGA the difference in FG% is the same as the gap between Luka and Patrick Baldwin Jr’s rookie season. And the gap between the Thunder and the Lakers is the same as the Lakers and Blazers.
Raw FG% is a meaningless stat.
As is saying “if SGA played more and shot more at the same efficiency he’d have more points.”
And we’re past the myth that he “defends at a much higher level.” Leave that to Perk and others who don’t watch games.
Anyone with a brain can see SGA is levels better than Luka on defence, who gives a shit about Perk. And if you don’t like FG% pick whatever efficiency stat you want. All that Luka really has on SGA right now is volume.
SGA gives up way more PPP as an iso defender than Luka, despite having the greatest defensive supporting cast of all time behind him.
And yeah, contributing at a high volume is inherently harder more valuable than doing it at a low volume. It’s not called the “Most Efficient Per Minute Player” award.
