Shai is more consistent but Luka has way higher highs. Although Shai did just have a bad game against wolves he usually is efficient and very rarely has stinkers. Luka will have more off shooting nights but also more all time great performances.

Given that Luka is objectively much better passer I think he has edge as a better scorer.

I’m clearly biased here but this is part of the reason why I kind of dislike how efficiency is the end all be all nowadays (to some extent). Luka will never have the game breaking efficiency of Jokic or Shai simply because he’s a high risk high reward player. He takes tougher shots and tries riskier passes. Thats where the Luka magic comes from. It’s actually commendable that he has the efficiency he does with a diet of stepbacks and throwing up contested bullshit all the time. He’s an all time shot maker.

Advanced stats will always favor consistency but Luka has some of the highest highs I’ve ever seen in the sport and his lows are still the averages of an all star, all NBA level player lol

I think Luka is a generational talent, not just scoring but playmaking as well. But let’s put a LITTLE bit of context to your numbers you have, as far as it concerns with Shai and how they “compare”

Luka’s 2nd year in the league in 2019-2020, his usage rate was already an astronomical 36.6%, a number Shai has yet to reach even with OKC offense revolving completely around him. 

Luka lowest year usage % was last season, when he was traded in the middle of the season, and was recovering from injuries. His usage rate was still 33.9% for the season. 

For context Shai highest ever usage was 34.6%, accomplished last year in the MVP year. He’s actually back down to 33% this season, while Luka is back to his normal career average of 37%

All of this to say both players are amazing,  Luka was given the keys to his offense at a young age and has put up crazy numbers since day one, but Shai has gotten better every season, and his last 3 years have been better than Luka in every way except for Luka’s higher counting stats. And that’s not really debatable, with a MVP about to be 2, a championship, and heavily favored to win his second straight finals MVP. 

You should put Tied in the 45 points column. It’s accepted practice in these kinds of situations

Shai is a better scorer by quite a lot. Shai’s way more efficient as a shooter from the midrange, 3pt line or ft line and both are top tier slashers. Shai simply generates better shots for himself with his handle, change of direction/pace and speed and makes them more than Luka does.

On the other hand, while Shai is a fairly good playmaker, Luka is an all-time great so he makes up the offense ground there. But as a scorer it’s not very close.

Guys like Jokic, Embiid and Shai are in a separate tier as scorers from Luka. I think Giannis is a better scorer too but that’s more debatable. 

Luka has been a better scorer than sga for most of his career. But as for this season and last season shai has the edge over luka in scoring. His efficiency is only matched by 2016 steph who arguably has the greatest modern scoring season in nba history and he is playing less minutes than luka and would outscore him by a point if they played the same minutes. Im giving scoring to Sga currently but luka has definitely been the best scorer of the 2020s so far.

Somewhat lazy take, because Luka is a much more versatile scorer. Luka, unlike Harden, heavily plays in the post and mid-range, while having step-back threes and penetration similar to Harden.
