WNBA agrees to new CBA, average salary reportedly pushed above 500k
Details are still emerging this early morning, but a major watershed moment for a league that the NBA owns 42% of and effectively controls the operations of. There have been reports that the new agreement ties to a significant portion of league gross revenue.
“For the first time player salaries are tied to a truly meaningful share of league revenue, driving exponential growth in the salary cap, increasing average compensation beyond half a million dollars and raising the standard across facilities, staffing and support,” union president Nneka Ogwumike said.
