[Highlight] Stephon Castle year-two downhill craft - @UsherNBA
Castle’s fearlessness is crazy. He doesn’t give a damn who is between him and the rim.
What practicing against Wemby does to an mf
He’s been like this since college. Castle is always putting rim pressure on the other team by going at who ever is in front of him. And does it under control to, just walks his defender down. Kid is special
too
That second one on Giannis was clean af
No cap, that move was nasty, dude’s on another level.
Not that hard to get past someone when you’re allowed to Carry that hard…
The footwork improvement is lwk insane from year one.
It honestly reminds me of younger Luka. The patience, slow step throughs, spins, and using his body to push defenders around and draw contact. Very impressive.
Let’s see Paul Allen’s highlights.
Yea he shows he’s mastering the slow down, but can go quick, too
Best player in the draft
Wemby/Castle/Harper has the potential to go down as a historic draft run
Think it can pass the KD/Westbrook/Harden one?
I mean, they never won a championship so the bar is actually pretty low for success.
Well yeah, but in terms of player quality it is the best 3 years of picks ever probably. This one might end up 2nd, but getting 3 first ballot hall of famers in b2b2b years is ridiculous
Assuming everything goes right for the Spurs, it’s unlikely they match KD, Russ, Harden. Part of that trios dominance is the fact they all got to be the guy on a team at some point and set their own lofty stats/mvps/awards off of it. So assuming Wemby, Steph, and Dylan are all Spurs for at least the vast majority of their careers limits that ceiling by having that many mouths to feed, someone takes a hit in the counting stats.
This guy cant shoot and finish in his first 40 games last year. The improvement is insane.
Yeah and he’s only 21
castle walks that perfect line of “it’s not a carry, but it sure looks like it” - he takes advantage of his hang dribble a LOT but it’s all ethical
I mean, it is only ethical because they just stopped calling them lol, but yeah, dude has really great handles and body control, the athleticism on top of it is special as all hell
I think the better phrasing is “this is an egregious carry but not quite egregious enough that the ref will call it”
Has anyone seen a carry call on a crossover in 2026 though? Is it even possible? And how bad would it have to be?
Funny enough Castle got called with one iirc
Yeah its not pretty, but its undeniable.
Castle is the smartest bully guard I’ve seen in a long time. Rashard Lewis is feeding these kids something special cuz they all picked up how to shoot threes mid season too.
I think he’s something like 38% in his last 20.
Look, Luka and Harden both exist so we don’t need to get hyperbolic about this.
But when Castle is doing all this stuff for a guy that came in as “not really a PG” has been huge development.
He did already have the hesitation step at the start of last season, but we always just to get his layup off in traffic. But has added so much to it in the last 18 months.
If he ever cuts his hair he will be much more aerodynamic, too. That’ll cut a few tenths off his 40 time….right?
Dude’s such a stud
Some real bag work man brings a tear to my eyes
He’s like the Leveon Bell of slashing guards
@2:13 is nuts
It’s just a normal driving turn around bank shot fade away
Thank God the rockets drafted Reed instead of Castle 🏰
Yes I’m overreacting but I don’t give a damn: future MVP
Less athletic d rose vibes
that’s what i have always thought watching him attack the basket
I’ve been hyping this dude up all year. He’s a killer. Best guard in SA
The fact that they have willing drivers with Wemby is so stupid
Slash Bros
His strong finishes remind me of prime PG with the long strides and exaggerated handles that look slo-mo almost. Maybe I’m mistaken.
Damn hi is so fast..the spin move is crazy
His change of speed combined with slow euro stepping is really nice
but but he doesnt shoot as good from 23 feet as some other dudes so he is bad
But he is shooting about 37% to 38% from 3 from the last 20 games though.
Beautiful tempo. that hesi & crossover so Lopez is off balance and brings both his feet up. which gives Castle a clean layup… is so fucking clean i had to rewind.
nasty
This game is uniform hell.
What he did to Brook is elder abuse
We are so lucky to have him and Wemby.
6’5” westbrook
His ability to change speeds while driving and also implement nasty shot fakes are things of beauty.
any other team in the league without Wemby gets him and he’s an all star at least this year. he’s so fucking elite
This is just his offense.
His defense is even better.
He gets so jiggy wit it … threat to go left or right at anyyy moment and then
Drives like a bigger Derrick rose
That footwork, deceleration and the hesi + multiple fakes he makes when he wants to fake you out to oblivion makes this unstoppable.
The touch too and great use of angles and the glass.
That up fake going into his last step, then going up is so clean. He fakes shots and lobs off it, and goes right into a lay up on the next beat.
That guard-whisperer guy who trained with him over the break was actually making a difference, eh?
He’s moves like a bigger Jrue Holiday to me. The strength and pace, the same low cross too
Tmac’s move at 18 seconds
How many of these highlights have Wemby on the floor? Interesting thought exercise
He’s averaging 17/5/5 without Wemby. Which is incredibly close to his average with Wemby. In fact he basically locked up his RoY last year after Victor went down with injury.
Just admit the kid is good and move on instead of bringing in Wemby.
I see a lot of carries in there, not gonna lie. Amazing talent nevertheless.
i wonder if people remember what the game looked like before every single person carried the ball constantly
You’re being downvoted for speaking the obvious
