Atlanta cares more about a strip club promotion than they do the team

People on here that are basically saying over and over “It’s a strip club, why would they ever partner with a strip club” really ARE out of touch with this specific venue and its influence on the Atlanta rap scene, which has been the hub of the most popular for of american music this century.

Numerous huge, influential artists (Future, Migos, Jeezy, 2 Chainz, and on) blew up SPECIFICALLY because of Magic City Mondays and the influence of DJ Esco. The dancers themselves played a huge role in artists being signed based on how they reacted to new music. If they reacted positively that could lead to record deals, and artists blowing up. This isn’t just a strip club in a city of strip clubs. It literally helped shape what you hear on the radio, on TV, in the clubs, and at stadiums over the last 20 years.

There is probably nowhere in sports that is more of a confluence of the rap scene and sports than Atlanta Hawks games. I completely understand people not being comfortable with the partnership but also think its an extremely narrow view to look at Magic City as “just a strip club”. Recognizing the club’s (and yes, the dancers’) influence on the culture of the city, the culture, and the NBA does make sense, even if you are part of the group that thinks it isn’t appropriate.

If you can promote liquor companies and gambling companies then I don’t see the big deal about promoting a club with naked women dancing as all things are legal for 18-21+. If the city of Atlanta is proud of it then nobody else should have a say. It’s not like there was actual stripping going on at the arena. This country has always had a moral high ground attitude about sex but celebrates violence and killing brain cells without a problem.

Gambling and Alcohol have destroyed more households than strip clubs. Yet the NBA has no issue with advertising the latter.

Furthermore, the NBA has no issue playing albeit edited versions of songs in arenas that glamorize drug dealing, and murder, but magic city night is too far?

The league has already moved beyond the “family friendly” image. Microphones pickup all that shit talk. Gambling is now legal. Cheerleaders twerking. Players cussing during interviews. Kornet banned from Magic City.
