[Highlight] Garland DESPERATELY tries to get past Wembanyama but it just doesn’t work
Bro looked like he was in a horror movie trying to escape the monster
Slenderman irl
It’s my Alien Isolation experience
He was
Could have worked if Sanders made the pass inside after the give and go but then again Wemby’s ability to recover is like AD when defending so he would have blocked it anyway.
An actual generation of miracles player.
Effin Murasakibara ass umbrella aura 🤣
Wemby is even better than him, since wemby actually loves basketball and works hard on top of that.
Yup He’s an alien who dwarfs him in size, skill and mindset 😤
And doesn’t binge a shit ton of snacks
Murasakibara loves basketball though. That’s clearly spelled out in both the 4th quarter of his match, and in the movie. He DID stop working hard. But he certainly loves the game.
Spurs need to do whatever it takes in these next 3 years there’s no way a human should be this mobile. He’s prime Anthony Davis with 8 extra inches lol
Yea. This could be his prime. Time to push the chips in.
They absolutely should not do that. They have all the foundations for championship success, just let the young guys continue to develop and grow and make moves on the margins without touching the young core. The superteam era is dead
Somewhere in the middle would be ideal. The window is open right now, they should absolutely look to take advantage by adding talent to the roster. Who knows how many seasons like this you can get out of a guy with Wemby’s build. That being said, Castle and Harper should be absolutely untouchable and they should look to keep developing them. If I’m the Spurs GM though I definitely am looking to trade picks for Veterans and solid Role Players, maybe a Superstar if the price is right.
Its basically the Warriors 2-timelines thing but it actually looks more realistic because their young talent has actual All-Star potential.
They could really go all in for Giannis. Imagine the twin towers those two can do on both ends of the floor. Keep some of the young core and trade your future picks for a late prime superstar. It’s gotta be worth it
Can I offer you one very bitter and old Slim Reaper?
KD already on his knees mouth wide open
Fox is on a terrible max and doesn’t produce like a max player. We literally drafted a better player in Harper who’s actually plays defense and can run the point. Castle also runs the point and plays all nba defense.
We trade Fox for a max player or two players that actually help the team/ fill needs.
I wish we could have gotten jjj. Markkanen would have been nice. But a 4 that can shoot and defend would be amazing. I will also accept a wing that can 3 and D or a 3 string young center with promise.
Why? Dude isn’t dying in 3 years
at that size, you expect an injury, which then leads to another injury, and suddenly you have the next anthony davis
due to his size a long career is not a guarantee, he could be injured at a young age
Prognosis for injury is bad for players his height. If Im the spurs gm it should either be win now and cash in before the inevitable long term wemby injury or keep the picks for after the inevitable long term wemby injury
Yeah but he’s getting paid
…8 inches where?
…where the inflammation is.
I’ve been calling for us to trade Fox all year. If we don’t win a chip I think that’s the easiest move to make.
Wemby covers so much space, it’s like the Spurs have a sixth defender when he’s on the court.
In the words of awfulcoaching youtuber Wemby is just 2man pretending to be one.
That’s not fair.
I love that 3 out of Wemby’s 4 blocks tonight were shots out of the air instead of just shots at the rim. Every fraction of a second that ball is in the air anywhere near Wemby is just more time for him to swat it away.
saw a highly upvoted comment on here a couple days ago how its possible how Wemby will get exposed on his defense in the playoffs like Gobert lol
Gobert never been exposed on defense tho. He got exposed on offense.
Teams started going small ball to lure him out of the paint and Gobert couldn’t punish them on the other end.
All the Jazz perimeter defenders were so used to Gobert cleaning up their mess they had no ability to stay in front of their man. But that doesn’t mean Gobert was a bad defender.
Gobert also got put into a shit ton of switches to also drag him out of the paint a lot. I vividly remember him switching on Steph one time and Steph made him look like he was playing Twister.
you gotta give me a link, there is no way
Possible? Sure. You know the probabilities are stacked against you but you comfort yourself by saying it’s possible.
If dude in the corner just passes back right away garlands probably gets a layup but I guess with Wemby you never know lol
Yeah, the pass and cut was perfect. Just too slow on the pass.
I was looking for this comment. It would’ve been an open layup if the guy in the corner realised that it was a give and go. The fact that he tried to iso before passing it back to Garland gave Wemby enough time to recover.
What the fuck
Not getting the pass back on that give and go was a crime.
Yeah that was the window, his teammate just missed him
Not even sure it’s enough of a window, could have end up pinned on the glass.
You never know. Yall are acting like no one ever made a layup with wemby out there
My reaction to how Wemby moves is like how Gaara reacted after Rock Lee took off the weights.
Crazy how mobile and athletic Wemby is when most players with similar height can’t even move half as fast as him
Lol, he’s like being haunted by an alien
would pay a decent amount of money to get the chance to get a shot blocked by wemby, these dudes get it for free night in night out smh
Couldn’t block me
Wemby has so much length, he can just afford to jump at shot fakes because even if he loses that first step (twice), he can just recover anyways. This would be not great defense if he were a normal height, but since he’s 8 feet tall it’s excellent defense against a guard. There’s 0 chance garland can shoot over a jumping Wemby.
He also doesn’t need to fully jump to contest/block jumpers so that allows him to get back on the ground to recover
I was told mentioning height is discrediting him
This would be awful defense if he were 6’2”
You can’t fool Wemby bro. The only man I can see fooling this man is Steph Curry.
Probably not current Steph Curry tho
Nevermind the fact he jumped on the fake in this very video?
Edit: Rewatched and he jumped two times on fakes. He didn’t get punished for them, but I’d still call that getting fooled…. Twice.
I think Wemby is also pretty aware of how big his recovery window is, he knows he can afford to bite on fakes because guys simply can’t build enough separation in the time it takes for him to land and turn. He knew that defensive possession was basically to seal the game, and Garland had just made some pretty crazy shots, so he wasn’t gonna leave anything to chance on that last play.
Yeah that’s a fair take, though I think to say that means he isn’t being ‘fooled’ would be a step too far
He fell for the hesi hes just so mobile it doesn’t matter
Curry rn? Nah. The smallest guy I saw who did is probably Ant. Anyone smaller is just too small.
Such height and speed are indeed despair-inducing
If he got the pass off that game I believe he would’ve been able to get a reverse. Anything else is getting sent back
Absurd defensive presence. He has a highlight every game that just makes me laugh
“They can’t hear you scream in space”
-Probably Wembanyama.
To be fair he had a wide open layup off the initial fake. Unfortunately his teammate decided to over dribble instead of hitting the open cutter.
This guy is a legit nightmare.
Been watching since I was a lad in the late 80s - honestly never seen someone so uncanny. Just an ‘average’ play like this makes an All Star caliber dude like Garland look like he’s having the most difficult time scoring he’s ever had in his life
That carry was insane, what is happening to the game I use to love.😔
“Bro ain’t NO WAY a human can move like this with that size”
actually nightmare
is this meant to be fair?
Bro gets the switch Castle onto Collins but doesnt work with it? Instead drives into Wemby? Just not a smart play altogether.
Dg can’t even get past Al horford he’s not good
Argue about it but a 7 FOOTER human being should not moved like this broo, wtf is this abomination?? tf??
I didn’t know Wemby was that quick
Those combo moves works against 9 out of 10 defenders.
