[Lowlight] Rockets turn it over on the inbound and Lebron ices the game
That locker room has gotta be miserable, durant is so checked out
When was the last time KD was on a team that didn’t have a miserable locker room lol
2011 OKC before they traded for Perkins
But Perk told me he was the best player on that team???
Big Perk was (unironically) a leader for that team.
Too bad that leadership couldn’t defend a pick & roll
I hear this comment a lot and it has def been repeated by Perk and his espn allies… but was he? Big perk had weight and conditioning issues, the team was coherent in the previous years without him mostly riding high on KD, Russ, Harden, and Iblocka quad. Jeff green was a good player in that squad too. Perk was a veteran presence but this thing about being a leader…. Him of all people… Idk
You’re talking about skill. He added veteran presence and championship experience, spent his whole career with Paul Pierce, Ray Allen, KG and his best friend on the Celtics was Rondo whose work ethic and approach to the game was pretty insane
Perk definitely knew more about being a serious team than the rest of OKC.
When the Celtics signed KG they went to Rome for preparation for the season and on the first practice Perk nearly came to blows with KG. Garnett had the attitude of “bitch you know who I am” and Perk had the attitude of “if you can’t beat me how you gonna win a title, I’m your biggest enemy as of right now” and that set the culture for that team. KG once even said no game that season was difficult for him because he had to go against Perk in practice every day
I have no problem believing Perk was the leader there
Kind of crazy to think a few years ago him and Steph were neck and neck in all-time rankings and now that gap feels pretty big just from the last 5 years of their career
I mean that 4th ring for Steph pushes him to top 10 imo kd is like top 16
2015 and 2022 rings are WAY heavier than 17 or 18.
However if KD doesn’t tear his shit in 2019… that would’ve been one of his greatest moments because i think they beat the Raptors with him healthy
I still think even if Klay stays healthy the Warriors win that series. Obviously the Warriors overall have had very good luck for the most part and have benefitted from injuries themselves, but that has to be one of the biggest injury asterisks on a championship with KD, Klay, Looney, Iggy and Boogie all being injured at different key points during the series.
10000%.
Obviously as time goes by, people will only see Kawhi’s ring and FMVP and consider it a closed case, but the Warriors would’ve definitely won that shit if everybody’s lower body didn’t explode at the worst possible time.
There is a very serious timeline where Golden State wins 5 Championships in a row
Hmmm… but now that i think about it, if Golden State wins in 2016, does KD jump ship and join?
That is so wild to think about
I dont think they pursue him in free agency if they win. They wouldn’t be scared of lebron having never lost 3-1. Don’t know where kd ends up though.
It’s crazy that Lebron winning that epic 2016 Ring basically torpedo’d Durant’s legacy and turned him from one of the most beloved superstars, into basically the most hated star because of his “Hardest Road” decision to join the Warriors.😅
Lebron basically turned his biggest rival into a laughingstock. I know the word is overused now, but that was straight *diabolical*😎
My hot take is I don’t think it matters if they win or lose 2016. If KD is available, they go after him. Even if they never lost the 3-1, it was still a battle. With KD, it becomes a breeze.
Not an asterisk at all, not even a little. If you were watching that year you would know there was a huge difference in bench depth between the raptors and dubs - the raptors had the best depth in the league at that time, while GSW had the worst - basically 5-6 all stars and a bunch of nobodies. GSW went all in on riding these 5-6 guys to a chip and it predictably didn’t work.
NBA is still a team sport, with an 82 game regular season. If you build your team to dominate a 50 game season, you don’t get to stamp an asterisk when you can’t last 82 + playoffs.
2015 against LeBron alone lol
Yeah I don’t think the Raptors win that year if the Warriors were even remotely healthy. It was Curry and whichever half of Looney’s limbs worked on a certain day
Lmao he hasn’t been neck and neck with Steph in all-time rankings since like… 2014.
He is the reason they turn miserable
Probably golden state, until KD realized people dont really rate his rings and didnt consider him the best player in the league after beating the cavs(like wtf does he expect?)
Crazy coincidence that this keeps happening every time he joins a new contender.
We’re all trying to find the guy who did this
“If I Did It: Confessions of a Locker Room Cancer”
Rockets weren’t a contender but I get what ur saying. More like his addition to a roster is seriously overrated.
Chuck was right all along about him being a bus rider rather than a bus driver
It was such a silly and over-simplified and unnecessary analogy to make in the first place, which made it funny… But if we’re evaluating whether he was “right or wrong” with the take, he was absolutely right.
Maybe not a Tier 1 contender the way OKC or Boston was going in but coming into the offseason they were a 2 seed in the west who added KD. They were definitely in the mix as a Tier 2 team like the Cavs or Timberwolves
Durant joined a contender? They are only considered close to contending because Durant joined them, not the other way around.
They were the 2nd seed last year. Are you joking?
Did you consider memphis a contender a few years ago?
Yes
And how much did they contend?
Fine I guess. Lost to the eventual champions in 6 in 2022. 2023, never had a chance with the Clarke and Adams injuries.
About three fiddy
They were contenders in the same way as the Light the Beam Kings were contenders.
When was the last time kd wasnt checked out from a team ,😂😂
The second Reeves touched the ball for the steal, I could see Durant thinking about what he is going to tweet on his alts.
Maybe he shouldn’t have called his teammates all sorts of names behind their backs.
That’s literally just everywhere he goes lol
Tbf if my teammates tried to make an inbound that bad I’d be checked the fuck out too that guy just gave up and threw it away lol.
I didn’t even see the rest of the play but just from the KD body language that ball was supposed to be in bounded already and he was pissed that it didn’t happen plus that was a bum ass screen then the guy seeing that throws it away passive aggressively as fuck most likely knowing its fucked lol
Houston with unequivocally the worst fucking offense I’ve ever seen in the clutch. No wonder the Knicks were able to come back from down 19
Defense was just suffocating. Double team KD and everybody else on the Rockets was terrified and shat their pants
The Lakers are playing a good zone/trap rn, but some of the turnovers and decision-making by the Rockets was just disgusting
I don’t think the double-team was that impressive. It wasn’t that aggressive or strong. They just showed two to KD and rotated
At all + KD taking his sweet time getting rid of the ball. Too many brain dead turnovers from him alone in that 4th.
I mean, to be fair, who else is he supposed to pass to? Reed Sheppard is all they got besides him fr, everyone else has boulders for hands
You still gotta get the ball out and force the rotations
I get the Rockets don’t have guys who can go get theirs but the pocket/release pass was there early enough instead of backing himself into a corner multiple times or dribbling the air out of the ball at the logo for 20 sec before turning it over. Probably should’ve had Amen in the pocket to go downhill against those doubles instead of DFS and Tari in the 4v3 situations.
Wtf ahaha even kids know focus isn’t “who’s gonna score out of a double”, it’s just moving the ball and forcing rotations
It just seems like everyone else is indecisive about who should be in the middle and what they do next. I blame coaching
“KDs hate this one simple trick”
Nobody wants to be on the bad side of Getofmydickerson, they know they will be in KD’s group chat.
Imagine what that offense would be without KD. It makes you see how much more valuable Vanvleet was than he seemed.
This is the first time this year I’ve heard sometime describe the Lakers defense as suffocating, feels good
Ime Udoka’s whiteboard:
“Kevin Durant dribble up the court and Inshallah”
They even failed at that once for an 8second turnover
KD really had a backcourt violation and 8 second violation in the span of like 2 minutes, man is checked out
Ahhh that’s the mistake. They Inshallahed when they should’ve Mashallahed
That doesn’t make sense LMAO
Bro they couldn’t play simple 4 on 3 basketball.. lol Fratello was on the broadcast telling them what to do
maybe KD had a point…😅😅
They don’t have Sengun, who always gave the Lakers problems, even when AD was around.
Lebron knew exactly what play they were running lol that’s why Reaves got the steal
He was mirroring Easons movements with his back to him, before he even made them. He precogged that shit.
Man had eyes behind his head 😂
elite intangibles and Bball IQ
He precogged that shit.
I knew I didnt want avocado toast…
100% he shut down the intended passing lane at the perfect moment
Free safety bron is fun
Nah to watch this man’s elite Basketball IQ come out on moments like this, is incredible
I’ve always insisted he could play until 50 if he wants. He could give you 20 minutes off the bench, put up 12/5/5s indefinitely, and make everybody around him smarter.
He’s been playing so well recently, much better than when he was getting 10+ assists since he turned over the ball a lot as well and he was gassed at the end of the game. He’s always looking for the best play and it’s showing.
Tari “Shedeur Sanders” Eason
Pro Bowl level pass there
I don’t even know if I can blame him. That was a horrible ATO play
Who was he even throwing to?
Yao Ming
Cj Stroud*
Nine*
He got scared of Lebron and choked out at the last second. Great read of play though by the Lakers
Yeah. He telegraphed the hell out of that pass, and then Bron made him hesitate
lmao KD turning another team into poison.. that’s got to be a record, no?
I mean this team would be broken with or without him. They’re built in a fundamentally poor way. Now sure if KD wasn’t a prick he’d probably have been more help
Yup. This is a bruiser type of team. No ball handlers really with FVV out outside of Sheppard? I don’t think they’re good enough offensively to wear teams down in a 7 game series
I also think the whole idea people have that FVV magically fixes them is wrong. Like sure it’d help them but you’d think he was some star the way he’s talked about. Just FVV is not enough.
At the very least, they’d be better than whatever the hell we just watched.
I agree. I just think it really highlights though with him out how terrible they’re lack of ball handling/playmaking is
Ironically, I think Luka would do very well on this team. His defensive shortcomings would be covered, and the Rox offense would explode with an elite playmaker with a bunch of athletic wings.
Vibes went to shit after the burner leaked
They were kinda shit a while before that or there wouldn’t have been so much of it on the group chat in question
KD Files really did a number on this team
They lost their point guard and can’t score can’t fully blame him
I mean it’s not that many. The nets was clearly not KDs fault. That was someone else lol. The warriors was Draymond. He didn’t turn the thunder into poison he just left. The suns is on him tho.
Sonics left the city after 1 year with him?
Fuck schultz.
Lebron baited it so well by pretending to fall back on the coverage and forget his man, then feint the steal
Crybaby rockets commentator “How do people watch the lakers!? this defense is horrible!” Like, sure! You can say this but don’t be fucking ASS, turn the ball over 90 times in clutch time, AND lose the game 😭😭
For real. The Bulls can say that about us since they hung 120+ last week, but not the team that somehow lost the game while the Lakers had a 5 min drought in the 4th.
At one point the Lakers were 1-12 and the Rockets were 0-10 in the 4th.
Rockets announcers are legit on the spectrum
Sorry you must be confused, the Lakers announcers are the ones on Spectrum
Nice
JAAAAAAAACK IN THE BOX
Moooorongggooooo
And the Hornets announcers call home games at Spectrum
All while the Lakers being the 11th best defense since the All-Star break and 8th during this 10-game stretch. This team is clicking at the right time.
Horrible defense but they cant even get a 100 right lol
What do you expect from Ryan fucking Hollins
Old? Yes. Does it matter? Not one bit.
he really the goat man 😭 still doing ts at 41, unbelievable
Sorry dude 41 and everytime he does ANYTHING impressive I just shake my head he literally been DOMINATING for 23 years no breaks
As a fat ass incoming 32 yo, I wish I even have like 1⁄16 of the fitness Lebron has at his age
33 here and played pick up for the first time in years 2x this week…..I feel like i want to die.
Who was that even intended for
AR15
Flare screen to KD; The ball was supposed to be thrown within the first second or two toward the ref at the bottom of the screen.
Eason like giving the ball to reaves maybe confused him with reed or some shit
How many turnovers from the rockets in the 4th?
And its not even close
Somewhere around their total of 22
The rockets announcers said nine
Yep
LeLinebacker read the eyes of the inbounder and got in the passing lane
I like the idea that he recognized the play. Watch how he mirrors Eason with his back to him. He knew the sequence.
Known defensive juggernaut Austin Reaves
What the hell happened in the 4th between them
Something that I wouldn’t remotely call basketball.
The Lakers played like a college team, but luckily the Rockets played like a JV team.
Forget JV team. They played like a bunch of ballhogs at a pickup game trying to play their first game together
Brick brick turnover brick turnover brick fts brick on constant repeat.
trade marked Udoka ATO
KD and Eason in that 4th lmao
Austin couldn’t make a shot today but was ON POINT on defense
Seriously though? Rockets last year are more exciting than this year. Wtf happened?
Fvv is dead, DFS is washed, Adams out, ime is dumb, kd is locker room cancer, Sengun/Thompson still need time etc
Thompson is already who he is
And look at the Suns. They’re playing better than what I expected.
The Lakers definitely knew the rockets inbound play before hand , the way Ayton stands making sure there is no pass to Ayton right. And LBJ waits for the right time to break the play . Inbound has to be done within five seconds, so i am not going to blame the throw in.
So where kd going next year? Lol
China
Jesus that was ugly. It honestly feels like the rockets wanted to Lakers to win that was terrible basketball.
How do you come out of timeout get a instant turnover like that?
4th quarter was the Rockets throwing the ball out of bounds and the Lakers coming down to the other end to miss a wide open 3 for like 9 straight minutes
Man watching that 4th Quarter. KD has to be the worst playmaking superstar. He just can’t pass out of a double team or make a smart decision
The Lakers were up by 8 with 43 seconds left. I mean, a comeback was possible but it was pretty much iced already.
Did any udoka team ever have decent offense for their capability??
Even Celtics offense didnt look that great
Even last year playoff series was ugly vs gsw.
His post match interviews everytime is basically players lacked intensity or heart but no designs to get players open shots or anything like thay
KD the last 3 years is one of the worst players when doubled. Can’t believe him and Booker were on the same team with no point guard
I see why Ant’s m favorite player is KD. Something he struggles with nightly
Damn. Houston falling apart down the stretch
They do not know what they are doing in that play.
I was trying to figure out if the Rockets messed up their own play, but I think it was supposed to go to Capela for a handoff, but LeBron read it and caused the inbound to be double clutched
Lol watch KD in that inbounds play
Powerful slam sheesh
That was some basketball terrorism by Houston there at the end…
If you notice, Tari steps in before the ball leaves his hand
What in the world happened to Eason?
Isn’t he always been like this?
Great athleticism, incredible effort, lots of braindead decisions
Holy shit. Even if Reaves didn’t get the steal, that ball was gonna go out of bounds anyway. KD didn’t move, and the other Rocket player was going the other way.
KD is so trash now.
He’s aging horribly.
Rockets are worse than last year.
😂
Kd deserve it its a karma when he joined warriors
that inbound pass was crazy
There is no way KD ends next year as a Rocket.
What the hell was he thinking with that pass my god
KD cant make his own shot or create space anymore. Dudes calling for the ball flat footed, cross court with 3 defenders between him lmao
man as a rockets fan this hurt me. sengun is on a slump (i want to believe it is a slump), amen still needs to work on a jumper, and an alltime great is still a fucking snake
Rockets desperately needed to get a pg at the deadline. Also its become clear that KD was not the answer to the Rockets offensive struggles. Probably shoulda just rode it out with DB and JG
Durant has been making teams worse when he joins them
Eason gots to go
That team has wayy too many Forwards.
Looking at the inbound, I can’t figure out wtf the game plan was. Capella’s weak screen, KD complaining about not getting the inbound pass? The ball had no where to go unless he was supposed to heave the ball to the corner?
I was dying of laughter when I saw the rockets go for 3 consecutive 3 pointers, missed every single attempt, somehow still have the ball, and frick up the two-point pull-up.
Also, it took the lakers 9 minutes to score their second basket of the 4q without a foul—an embarrassment on both sides of the court.
Isn’t this what everybody wants to bring back? 90s basketball? lol
There wasn’t even a rockets player where he threw it 😭
honestly lakers defense looked really good in the 4th
LAME
They could have recreated the Wade-LeBron dunk picture
What was that inbound pass lol
Loved our defense late but man the shots were not falling. Had a bunch of good looks too. That win could’ve easily been by 15+.
was he about to say the “cookies and the milk” if Reaves scored, before switching it up when he dished it to Lebron?
Holy shit that was a smart fucking play. LeBron read it perfectly and Reaves picked up on it and shadowed LeBron’s man so he’d essentially turn invisible, then thanked LBJ for the tip. I’m high as fuck and I have watched this like 20 times.
When did the Lakers get smart?
AT LEAST BEN SIMMONS PASSED HIM THE ROCK!!
SIDEBAR: Why when I’m scrolling reddit do NBA videos continue playing for pages, and everything else stops once it’s off the screen?
It was already over
Who was blud passing it to🤨🧐
Was KD really thinking he was open there? Lmfao
Hand on brons back on the dunk stressed me out
Always thought ime was a little overrated as a coach.
I mean the game was already iced but ok
That inbound pass doesn’t look legal. He had one foot in
That looks like a highlight to me ;)
So two sides go to each corner and stand there lmao
Who was the pass for? If Reeves doesn’t intercept its just heading out of bounds.
