For real though, the fans of that franchise do deserve to have some sustained success. It really sucks being a fan of a team that just never can seem to be competent. The beam season was awesome, but that wasn’t sustained in any way unfortunately.

Are the Pacers really having that much of an ethical tank tho? They lost Hali but bruh they literally made the finals last year and now they’re the legit worst team in the league? You go from one win away from being champions to the actual worst record in the league just cuz u lost ur best player? Hali is great but not that great. I know they lost Turner too but again he’s not THAT much of a loss to create such a difference. They still have a damn solid team with an all star in Siakam. They really shouldn’t have 15 wins this far into the season

First half of the season was just debilitating injuries but still getting wins over the Knicks, Thunder, and Celtics. The team was trying but Nesmith, Toppin, Nembhard, Mathurin all being out for extended periods led to lots of losses. Once the second half of the season rolled around, we realized we were in a tanking position and switched gears.

I know he’s extremely fucking good. But going from 1 win away from champions to worst team in the league basically means he’s the highest floor raiser of all time, the best player in the league, and you can throw in on any team and they’d instantly become a title contender or at least playoff team. That’s how good he’d have to be if his loss creates that much of a different in success. He’s not at that level. I don’t think anyone ever has been

Well they were also running literal G league centers before the Zubac trade and have had guys like Mathurin hurt for most of the season too so its not just that

They didn’t just lose Hali, they lost Toppin and Turner too, and they traded Mathurin for a long term improvement (Zubac, who is hurt).

Of their top 6 guys last year in minutes played, only two have been healthy/on the team. And even Siakam/Nembhard have missed a dozen games each.

To some extent they’re obviously not pushing guys too hard so that they can lose guys and so that their younger pieces can develop, but they’re also very short-handed compared to last year’s team and have almost nothing in common with their every day lineups.

He actually had 21 assists and 1 turnover for his first few games. Despite shooting 25% from 3, the Kings still saw his playmaking and defensive potential and gave him a 2 year deal. Then he decided to shoot ⁴⁄₆ from 3 and throw our tank game vs the Jazz.

They actually wanted to trade Fox over Hali in 2022 but he had no trade value and they didn’t want to lose him for nothing

So instead they sold Hali low and then ended up trading Fox for nothing 3 years later anyway

Exactly. These wins mean absolutely nothing other than the team is too dumb to tank properly. I feel for kings fan as a nets fan who’s team also sucks at tanking (tho we’re doing more lately )
